Aria browser AI now available in Opera without sign-in
Last week we made Aria’s “Explore more” and “Translate” functions available without the need for you to sign in. Previously, you needed to sign in to your Opera account to get Aria’s help – we got rid of this requirement. This will allow more of you to try it out and facilitate access to the feature to our broad user base across desktop and mobile.
This means that you’re getting easier access to Aria’s full potential, which includes features like Image Generation, Image Understanding, Page Context mode, and more! “Accountless Aria” is now available for Opera One, Opera GX and Opera for Android Beta version, and it’s coming in the next few weeks for Opera for Android and Opera for iOS – making Aria’s capabilities easier to access in every platform.
Get the most out of Aria without signing in
To access Aria without signing in all you need to do is update your Opera One or Opera GX browser to the latest version. You can update your browser manually by clicking the Opera logo on the top left corner on Windows, or if you’re a Mac user, click the “Opera” next to the Apple icon. Then select “Update & Recovery”, then click “Check for update” and it will automatically download the latest version. For Opera for Android Beta, check for updates directly in the Play Store and install them.
The next step is to start a chat with Aria in the side panel or through the Command Line*. The first time you use Aria, you’ll see a message asking you to accept the terms of service. Just read through them, click “accept”, and you’re all set! You’ll have access to all of Ask Aria’s features, ready to use whenever you need them.
If you’re trying this in Opera for Android, tap on the menu icon, then go to Aria Browser AI and start a conversation with Aria – which will prompt the one-time-only terms of service message. After you read through them, tap “I understand”, and Aria will be ready for you on the go.
When you’ve started to use Aria without signing in to your Opera account, you’ll get access to all of Aria’s features as if you were signed in, albeit with a limit on image generation – which has been capped to 5 images. Once you reach the limit you will get a message with the option to sign in to generate more. When you sign into your Opera account, you’ll increase that limit to 30 images that you will be able to generate every day for free. If you’re an Aria power user you’ll want to sign into your Opera account in order to have access to your previous chats.
With this update we’re bringing Aria’s latest features to every one of you Opera users, making it easier to use our clever Browser AI for your daily browsing tasks. This change is making its way to all of our desktop browsers – Opera One and Opera GX – for both Windows and MacOS, as well as the beta version of Opera for Android. This means that no matter which platform you’re on, you’ll get full access to Aria on your laptop and desktop computers, as well as Android devices.
Bringing AI to the forefront of browsing
Aria has been at the center of Opera One since we launched it back in June 2023, when Opera One became the first browser with an integrated AI assistant. And, today, we’re making it easier for every Opera user to get the most out of our smart browser AI.
After the introduction of Aria, we didn’t stop there. We quickly realized that LLMs have a great potential to help people in their daily browsing activities, and decided to create a program – called “AI Feature Drops” – to test cutting edge AI functionalities in the Developer version of Opera.
Through this program we were able to test innovative features, such as the possibility to download and use Local LLMs through the browser, or Writing Mode to improve your texts. Other features even made it to the stable version of Opera One and are available today, such as Image Generation and Image Understanding, Page Context mode – which helps you do deep dives in any webpage –, and Links to sources – which facilitates the use of Aria for research purposes.
Aria works with our own AI Composer engine, which selects the most adequate model – between GPT and Gemini – to solve your requests and queries. To support our AI-centric projects, we even opened our own green-energy-powered AI data cluster in Iceland – which was recently rated among the world’s top 100 supercomputers. It provides us with the necessary infrastructure to bring you the latest AI innovations in the most environmentally friendly and respectful way possible.
We’re excited to make Aria even more accessible today, and we’re looking forward to bringing new AI features to make your browsing experience better.

*The Command Line can be accessed through the shortcut: Ctrl + / on Windows and Cmd + / on Mac. In some cases – and depending on the keyboard layout – the Aria Command Line shortcut can vary due to different positioning of the forward slash ( / ) character, for example, in the Nordics it’s ctrl/cmd + shift + 7.
