Opera wins four 2026 iF Design Awards for Opera Neon, Opera Air, Opera GX, and Opera GX Mobile
Hey all,
Today we’re announcing that Opera has won four 2026 iF Design Awards, doubling last year’s tally. Opera Neon, Opera Air, and Opera GX Mobile won in the Branding and Communication Design category, while Opera GX was recognized for its User Interface.
This year’s competition featured over 10,000 submissions from 68 countries. An independent jury of 129 design and sustainability experts evaluated each project, awarding the winners an internationally recognized symbol of creative excellence.
“With four iF awards, Opera is the most successful winner from Norway in the field of digital user interfaces,” said Frank Zierenberg, Director of the iF Design Awards.
In its assessment process, the jury focused on five categories: the core idea behind each submission; its aesthetic form; its functionality; its differentiation from other products on the market; and how sustainable it is.
Opera’s results this year are indicative of the thought and care that goes into each of its products, across all platforms. Never pre-installed, Opera is deliberately chosen by hundreds of millions of users worldwide because it offers more than the default: more innovative features, more options for customization, enhanced privacy and security.

Opera’s agentic browser, Opera Neon, tops the list. Designed to be an active partner that helps users accomplish complex tasks, it moves beyond simply showing webpages to working alongside the user, using AI to research, create, and make decisions. With its features and capabilities, Neon focuses on privacy and security by design – a responsible approach to web and AI innovation. It transforms the browser from a viewing tool into a powerful conductor of AI agents that aims to create massive gains in productivity and creativity for its users.
Opera Air was built to interrupt the spiral of modern browsing. Instead of adding more noise, Opera Air integrates short, structured reset moments directly into your workflow, helping you pause, refocus, and return with clarity. With built-in Breaks and Boosts and a minimal, low-distraction interface, it’s designed to support healthier, more intentional browsing by default.

Opera’s winner in the User Interface category, Opera GX, was launched in 2018 and now records 34 million users each month. Last year, designer Savelii Shirokov led a redesign that introduced a whole new design language called Underwave, making the browser look and feel even better.

Reflecting on what it took to win the iF Design Award, Shirokov said “The Opera GX 2025 redesign became a deep rethinking of our visual identity, design system, and the way our entire ecosystem fits together. By treating it as one connected whole, we unlocked deeper customization and a more refined experience for users – without adding complexity.”

Opera GX is the browser of choice for millions of users who prefer a more personalized internet experience. The first browser to allow users to fully customize its appearance, color themes, sound and audio effects, GX comes with the GX store, where users can download one of over 10,000 mods to enjoy a new look that suits their preferences. Opera GX additionally optimizes the computer’s resources for gaming through CPU, RAM, and Network Bandwidth limiters that make the browser less resource-hungry.
Opera has a long history of success in the iF Design Awards, starting with a 2019 Gold Award for the mobile browser Opera Touch. Opera GX won in 2020 – the year of its release – while GX Mobile and the Hype Messenger app earned iF recognition in 2022. Our flagship browser for desktop, Opera One, won in both 2024 and 2025, while Opera One for iOS also won in the latter year.
