Opera GX is all about giving you the tools so you can play your way – and to come out on top while you’re at it. It’s why our gaming browser comes packed with features that help you squeeze performance out of your rig, customize every pixel of your set-up, and dunk on your digital rivals.

The Playground puts Opera GX’s more mischievous features all in one place. Entirely opt-in, you get to choose which of the following you want to play with:

• The Grass Touching Corner, a small, interactive patch tucked into the bottom-right corner of your browser window where you can plant a little patch of grass and tap to touch it as often as you like. So now, whenever someone tells you to go touch grass, you don’t need to go outside, you don’t have to waste any time at all – one click and you’re back in the game.

• Panic Button is built for those moments when you need to get out fast. Just a single tap of your designated hotkey you are immediately transported from whatever it was you were looking at and taken back to safety: open tabs are hidden, ongoing audio and video is paused, and your browser window is replaced with a pre-set “safe website.” But be careful! There’s always a chance that GX will play a trick on you and take you somewhere potentially just as questionable. 

• Fake My History gives you an alibi for your questionable browsing history. Goodness knows what you’ve been looking at – we don’t want to – but now no one else can. If activated, Fake My History will automatically replace your browsing history after 14 days of inactivity – because if you’re not using Opera GX, we assume that you have unfortunately ceased to be. So rather than leaving behind an all-too-dubious digital record, Opera GX will make sure you look like the wholesome person we’re sure you aspire to be, leaving study sessions, volunteering opportunities, and the occasional cat video as your legacy.
