We’ve got some great news for the music fans in the room. Opera GX has adopted the new Player feature that was previously only available in the Opera desktop browser. Now you can log into Spotify, Apple Music and YouTube Music directly from the sidebar in Opera GX. Player lets you keep your favorite streaming services in one place, and has a few other neat tricks up its sleeve as well.

Auto-pause for browser audio

Music streaming is an integral part of our online lives, but juggling separate streaming apps gets annoying. That’s why we’ve created the Player feature. Not only does Player let you use all your favorite services in one place, it also makes sure that audio never conflicts in your browser. Whenever you start streaming video or audio in your browser tabs, Player automatically pauses, and then automatically resumes once the tab is finished.

Popout controls for easy playback

The Player feature in Opera GX is right there on your sidebar, nestled between your messengers and Flow. Click the icon and Player’s panel pops out, letting you navigate your music services and library. There you can stay logged in on all three streaming platforms and alternate between them.

What’s even better – when playing music you can simply hover over the Player icon to get a mini popup with controls. This way you never have to switch apps or even click out of your current tab. You can also control Player with the standard playback buttons on your keyboard. 

Seamless browsing and streaming with GX

This past year Opera GX integrated Instagram and Twitter, letting you chat with the comfort of a standard keyboard and display without leaving your browser. The new Player feature brings this seamless experience to all podcast and music lovers, meaning you can now stream and browse without having to manage multiple devices, tabs or apps.

Especially when working from home and spending a lot of time online, it’s important to surround yourself with the things you like. Opera GX lets you do that in your browser by giving you access to your favorite music and podcasts, Instagram accounts and social messengers.

More unique features in Opera GX

Opera GX is all about bringing the immersive gaming experience to browsing. Along with gaming themes, sound effects, adaptive background music, and Razer Chroma RGB Lighting Effects, GX includes CPU, RAM and Network Bandwidth limiters that make the browser less resource-hungry and leave more of your computer’s resources for gaming. GX also includes a Hot Tabs Killer feature, which lets you kill your most resource-draining tabs, and GX Cleaner to purge those old unwanted files. We also recently launched our own Discord server which now has more than 250,000 members.

The Opera GX browser is free and available for download from opera.com/gx. It works on both Windows and Mac.
