Opera One is updated with more dynamic Themes and a new privacy feature

Opera One, our flagship desktop browser, is getting two new Themes, Twilight and Ethereal, giving you more ways to further personalize your Opera browser. Additionally, the browser is also getting a privacy boost with a new privacy feature, Clear Data on Exit, which lets you browse the web while minimizing the traces you leave locally on your device.
New Themes: Twilight & Ethereal
This update also introduces two brand new Themes: Twilight and Ethereal. Let’s check them out:
Twilight
Opera One’s Twilight Theme sets the tone with an elegant, animated backdrop that feels both futuristic and calming. Flowing vertical lines ripple gently across a deep blue-to-violet gradient, evoking twilight skies in motion. The effect is minimalist yet dynamic – a subtle pulse that adds depth and presence without distracting you from your browsing.
Twilight is a dynamic theme – a live-generated animation within your browser. It’s available in dark mode, and includes optional keyboard and browser sounds as well.
Ethereal
The Ethereal Theme in Opera One feels like a cinematic pause in time – a gently animated scene high above a misty fjord. A lone stag stands at the edge of a cliff, gazing at a surreal, floating monolith that slowly rises and falls, almost as if breathing. The soft zoom and misty atmosphere create a calm, quiet motion – immersive, but never intrusive. It is just abstract enough to stir your imagination every time you open a new tab.
This theme comes in light mode, and it includes subtle browser and keyboard sounds, as well as background music – a delicate, intriguing piano piece that perfectly complements the Ethereal Theme’s mystical, dreamlike ambiance.
The Ethereal Theme was created by Anxo Vizcaíno López – you can follow him on his Instagram or his website for more mysterious, surreal, intriguing, ethereal, and beautiful artwork.
Have your choice of data cleared every time you close Opera One
Switching from personalization to privacy, this update gives you more control over your privacy by letting you automatically delete your choice of browsing data upon exiting Opera, for a clean start every session. Just select the browsing data you want removed, like history, cookies, cached images, and more, and it’ll be automatically cleared every time you close Opera. This choice gives you deeper control of your data, so you can keep what you need and remove what you want, without doing it manually every time.
We’ve received many requests for such a feature – and as we’ve shown in the past, we’re constantly listening to your feedback and looking for ways to integrate it into our development pipeline. So, whether you’re a privacy enthusiast, a digital minimalist, or someone who simply enjoys the feel of a fresh start, this new privacy feature is for you!
To set it up and choose the data you want cleared when you exit Opera, just follow these steps:
- Open Settings (Alt + P on Windows, or Command + , on Mac)
- Under Privacy and Security, select Delete browsing data and click the On exit section
- Choose the data you want to have deleted every time you exit Opera
- Click Save, and you’re all set.
You can choose to have any or all of your data automatically deleted: browsing history, download history, cookies and other site data, cached images and files, passwords and other sign-in data, autofill form data, site settings, and hosted app data. For more details on what exactly is included in each of these options, head to our Help page on browsing data. Note that some settings – namely browsing history and site settings – are tied to your synchronization options and you’ll need to turn that off in order for that data to be deleted when exiting Opera.
Once you’ve set it up, the locally-stored data you’ve chosen will be deleted every time you exit Opera – giving you the fresh, clean start you want on each launch. This is particularly useful if you’re sharing your device with someone else, but don’t want to share your browsing sessions and associated data. Like when you share a computer with your little sibling or a roommate and don’t want them meddling with your browser history, email, or social media accounts. Activate the Clear Data on Exit feature and never worry about it again.
Of course, you’re still able to delete any other browsing data at any time through the same place in Settings. If you’ve chosen to share data to help personalize content and advertising, this data is also deleted.
Keep in mind that, if you have site data deleted, you’ll have to re-log into sites you were logged into before, and any website-specific settings you had may need to be re-enabled.
