Today we released an update to Opera developer 25. It contains a set of fixes, but the most important one is an update to Chromium 38.0.2125.8. You will find more details in the changelog.

Discover games!

Just in time for the autumn avalanche of new game releases, Opera’s Discover feature has added a Gaming category. With so many new games coming out at once, there is a fairly good chance you’ll discover a gem you might otherwise have overlooked. The new category is not yet available in all regions, but you can test it out in the U.S., Global, and 18 other regions.

You can select just the categories you want from the Discover feature by clicking the gear button, then Categories and hiding the ones that are not relevant to you.

Thanks, Przemek Kudła, for this Opera 25 Developer Gameium Build 1614 !

    when tab menu will working?

    • Should be in a working condition on Windows by the next developer release. It just missed the release deadline this time. No promises though!

Synchronization still not working – I have different speed-dials in Next/Stable than in developer. Please do something!

    • dshdgj

you can copy all your Stable/Next profile folder and paste it in developer profile folder.
I did that, when migrating from Next to developer…

  • BlB

Please include copy/paste cut functionality in the bookmarks manager!!! For instance I have 1000+ bookmarks…How to manage them manually???? Also, what is going on with Importing/exporting functionality???

    • Frenzie

Not to mention e.g. Ctrl + A, holding Ctrl or Shift while clicking, etc.

      • Guest

Don’t forget middle clicking on a folder to open bookmarks in new tabs.

        • al_ghul

well, actually it works, but YES, only with one item;)

    • al_ghul

YES and I would love to have possibility to select them with ctrl, shift, click coimbinations to select more at once, like in windows – it will be useful:)

      well, I’ve doubled Frenzie’s preposition already 🙂

    • Herr Pietrus

Copy and paste works well, and as for the way of choosing items – there is no doubt that for the owners of huge collections of bookmarks it could be useful. But personally I have only only moderate one and I don’t need to organize it constantly, so as for me current checkboxes aren’t bad.

      • al_ghul

well, for me they are also not bad, but…could be alwas better IMO;) I understand that greater part of users will decide the direction of every app.

    • L33t4opera

Hi, you can already select multiple items at once in the BM, simply hold down the left mouse, and move the mouse over the items you want to select, as shown below:
      then you can:
      – copy the selected items (press Ctrl+C), and paste them to another folder (press Ctrl+V),
      – you can move them (press Ctrl+X), and paste them into another folder (Ctrl+V),
      – you can also delete them (Shift+Del): please be warned – afaik, this can’t be undone, yet 😉

      • al_ghul

well, as I see, there is only possibility to select multiple items, but cannot to move them all either to subfolders or left-side main folders. when try to drag the whole select group of items – it affects only the dragged one actually.

as I see, L33t4opera’s method dragging rectangle with mouse also works with selecting multiple items. but still cannot move them all anywhere:/.

        • L33t4opera

but cannot to move them all either to subfolders

Hi, well, with all due respect, this works, and is quite simple imho 😉 Please try the below steps:
          1. Select multiple items – click and hold down left mouse, then it over the items you want to select (if you have a lot more items to select, more than one page, you can instead hold down left mouse, and press “PageDown”, or “End”), release the mouse, and press “Ctrl+C” to copy them:
          2. Open the folder, to which you want to copy the selected items, and press “Ctrl+V” (or Shift+Ins):

You can also easily move them:
          1. Select multiple items (as I mentioned above):

          2. Press “Ctrl+X” to cut them:
          3. Switch to the folder, to which you want to move them, and press “Ctrl+V” (or Shift+Ins):

          • Lacedaemon

That’s not the point though, drag & drop (of multiple items) to folders should be working from the get go. Also, folders at the left bar should respond (be editable) to right-clicking so that you can paste stuff without the need to open the folder.

          • L33t4opera

I understand your point, but this is it, what we have for the time being. AFAIK, and as probably you are aware of it also, the Bookmarks Manager is still in continuous development state, and therefore we have to wait, and see what more will be implemented, in near or distant future 😉

          • al_ghul

yes, only hope that the bkm manager would continue developing:). it’s still in very early stage:).

          • al_ghul

OK, You are absolutely RIGHT! Your method with keyboard shortcuts WORKS indeed!! i apologize, in my post I meant only the dragging method of copy/move which didn’t work, and actually didn’t try shortcuts. my fault. all Your ways work correctly! thx!:)

          • L33t4opera

Hi, there’s no need to apologise at all, it’s all ok 😉
I just thought, that what I wrote above, is not entirely clear, and therefore I wrote it again, step by step, in a slightly different way (adding more screenshots), to make it more understandable. I just wanted to provide simple solution to the problem, before something better in this regard, would be probably implemented.

          • al_ghul

no, no, it was sufficiently clear, but I have been focused only on dragging method rather than shortcuts, that’s why;).

  • hspdion

I’m on the mac version. The ‘Discover’ page is just blank & isn’t populating with any news stories

    • Try reloading or changing region (from the Gear menu) or revering back from the New Startpage.

      • hspdion

Ah, gear menu and then setting region (as suggested) fixed it.

  • Inquisitor

    – Since previous version, O25 does not open maximized any more.
    – After O25 restarted after the update, and I clicked the Opera blog bookmark, the Russian Opera Blog opened.
    – Disappointed to see that you think games are more important than a decent bookmarks feature.

    • myoperaexile

As always, multiple developments are going on at once. The classic mistake many companies (and non-developer observers) make is to think throwing more developers at a single problem will have a net benefit. Sometimes it’s better to keep a small team on a hard problem and they will fix it in less elapsed time.

If you’re interested in reading about this, I believe it’s covered in a book called “The mythical man-month” by Frederick P. Brooks Jr. It’s supposed to be a classic software engineering text, although I’m embarrassed to admit I haven’t read it yet.

      • Thank you. All experiences in the universe suggests that more people equals more delays and problems that they resolve. Its about having the right team for the task. Sync is a massive undertaking and as such it takes a long time to get right. Nobody would use/trust a sync feature we threw together in a couple of weeks.

P.S. The content sections in Discover does not even come from the Desktop team but from an entirely different team inside Opera.

        • Frenzie

“Nobody would use/trust a sync feature we threw together in a couple of weeks.”

Does that mean Opera Link was thrown out and you started again from scratch?

          • ahoj1234

they told that in the very first hints about sync… The new sync will be far more fancy. New servers, new possibilities etc…

          • Андрей

            … and new bugs :3

          • Frenzie

Whatever the case, I hope we’ll receive proper notice well in advance before the plug is pulled on Link. Although if the new bookmarks won’t regain essential features like nicknames and descriptions I suppose it won’t be relevant.

          • The storage models and everything in between that and the visual presentation are completely different with Chromium. Requirements from a synchronization service has also increased since Opera Link.

          • Frenzie

            Thanks for the reply. 🙂

  • Zik

Seems like we will not see RSS in Discover. :'(

    • Try Newsblur in a pinned tab.

      • Pim
      • Vorpal

You not get the point. Yes, we can use one of hundreds RSS readers but we want RSS in Discover. Why? Because Discover looks like handy and cool reader of our personal feeds of news from our favorite sites but it doesn’t. Instead, Discover shows me anything, except that I’m really interested. Without the ability to display RSS, Discover looks absolutely useless appendage.
The second reason that is I personally don’t like traditional RSS readers, I can not use them because they are not comfortable for me.

        • Leonardo Gomes

          You want.

For me, adding rss to discover would just break its purpose.

          • taneli

As it seems, MANY want it.
And it could be an ADDITION to the current Discover, not a replacement, an addition i would surely like to see.

          • Vorpal

Why? Adding of RSS support is not means excluding default feeds from Opera.

          • Leonardo Gomes

Discover is not a feed reader. Discover needs to be seen as an aggregate news page.

          • Vorpal

            What’s the difference?

          • Leonardo Gomes

A feed is not necessarily related to news.

          • Herr Pietrus

But the problem is that there are news form many sites and very often there are a few the same, at least in polish version. Today for example you can’t miss that Apple has shown his new iPhone and Watch. A few days earlier there were a bunch of news about our new President of the European Council…

          • At the end I have to agree, as something like Smart RSS allows for exporting and importing sources, as well as rechecking news from ago.

  • Wando Schneider

There is a strange bug in this release. The font size of the speed dial changes automatically. It’s difficult to explain:

    – Open a couple of tabs (just open), then, select the first tab that was opened, and the fonts are bigger. Reloading the page solves the problem on this tab, but remains in others.

    • al_ghul

here the same, when changing from classic SD to the new SD and back, there is also some fonts problems – they’re changing for a while to some serif typeface fonts, sometimes there are still present until another change;).

    • Mikolaj Boc

Thanks, we are aware of this and are working to fix this.

    • Marcin Mitek

As other member of our team spotted today (and prepeare some simple TC) – it’s also reproducible in Chromium. I filed a bug in their bug tracker today.

      https://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=413592

  • The new speed dial is not to good because they are not customizable at least for there backgrounds image and colors… some time they show and are exactly the same ones….. they need to include more details probably or the possibility to change them with some images or something from the sites they use…

  • Peter Henkel

Devs, I beg you, add proper pinned tabs. I want to switch already!!!

    • What is wrong with how pinned tabs work now? Tab pinning states are available in the extension’s API if you want to change their behavior.

      • Peter Henkel

Well if you can show me which extension will keep pinned tabs pinned across sessions WITHOUT saving whole session (in other words, how Firefox and Chrome works), I’ll be very grateful.

        • Hm. Add the pages you want to opera://settings/startup and combine it with an extension that pins all open tabs at the beginning of a session.

          • Peter Henkel

No go. I want only pinned tabs to be pinned at startup. Homepage needs to be left alone.

          • wolkenspalter

Configure this, install that, hey: New Opera is for user, not for geeks. Just let tinned tabs survive a restart.

          • They work just fine with the default configuration. … …

        • Herr Pietrus

Pinned tabs works for me exactly in this way – they are restored in next browser session. But I use “continue last session” option…

          • Peter Henkel

And I don§t want to restore whole session just for pinned tabs. In Firefox and Chrome, pinned tabs have their own session, so they get restored when you open browser.

          • Herr Pietrus

Now I get it. That’s why I’ve mentioned about session restoring, I’ve suspected that it can explain why it works for me 🙂 Well, if so, pinned tabs should certainly work as in Chrome and FF

      • SuuperTommy

Would be great if you got a visual on pinned tabs if you get a new mail or twitter feed is updated. Like Firefox does with the glowing effect.

        • I hate saying this but “like it was in Opera 12”? Yeah, it makes a whole lot of sense.

      • Persistent pinned tabs after restarting the browser, ring any bells?

        • With default settings (restore session) and a few pinned tabs, they are indeed restored after session restart.

          • So as I want pinned tabs and Speed Dial I have to make sure that is shown every time before I close the browser, so that it restores the custom session I have to create every time I close.

            You ever get it right?

    • Vorpal

I don’t know. Pinned tabs is ok for a long time. Maybe you meant something else?

  • Lacedaemon

    Issues:
1.Reloading SD is briefly showing Stash before showing Bookmarks.

    2. Going from the default SD to the new start page often changes the font of “SD, Bookmarks and Discover”.

    • al_ghul

here the same, when changing from classic SD to the new SD and back, there is also some fonts problems – they’re changing for a while to some serif typeface fonts, sometimes there are still present until another change;).

    • Just open Opera developer then add a new tab: if you click on the previous tab it loses the standard font (sans serif) and goes to Times New Roman.
It happens every time you add a new tab with the previous one.
      On Win 7 64 bit.

      • al_ghul

well, I have no THAT issues…

  • Dave-H

    All still too big!
    🙁

    • Inquisitor

It annoyes me too. A possibility to disable the link with Windows DPI would be most welcome.

    • Herr Pietrus

I works as it should work. But I agree, they should keep flag for disabling DPI-based scaling for disappointed people. But if your interface is properly zoomed in according to your DPI the only problem is your habit of using too small interfaces in relation to your current DPI settings. It’s natural but a bit strange because neither IE nor Office and a few other popular programs don’t behave in this way – their size always follows the DPI setting

      • Dave-H

Well I’ve had Windows XP, and Windows 2000 before it, set to “large” DPI setting for about ten years, and this is the first program it’s caused a problem with!
I don’t doubt that it’s working as it should do, but that doesn’t alter the fact that its display on my system is wrong, and there seems to be no way of properly fixing it.
        🙁

  • Jorton

speed up guys. it’s time to move it to beta.

  • Jorton

The bookmark acts like a extension. Switching between speed dial and discover is quite smooth, but switching to bookmarks indeed looks like to open a new tap…

    • siamak

Yep becouse bookamrks just Super extension

  • Jorton

    the words look uncomfortable.

    • Leonardo Gomes

      Which ones?

    • taneli

      I’m guessing something with opera://flags/#disable-direct-write

  • Evgeni Khmelnitsky

I actually forgot about Discover. I tried when it released but didn’t find it useful because I wasn’t interested in anything there, and then forgot about it. Now that there is a gaming category I might try it again.

    • Try customizing it to your liking. You‘ll find it more … likable that way.

      • al_ghul

yes, for me it is similar to google news – the tool which provides me all the news in selected category in my language – quite useful because I have cross-section of all my language newspaper news e.g. from left to right in one newspaper-like page:)

      • plague

The option to add custom feeds would surely help in this regard aswell.. 😉

  • Sidney Moraes

    Discover is not loading.

    • Leonardo Gomes

      Try changing region.

      • al_ghul

yes there’s no need to restart browser.

    • Please try reloading, changing Discover region (from the Gear menu), or reverting from the New Startpage.

      • al_ghul

IT WORKS!!! I missed that post;P. thx!

        • Which of the suggestions resolved your problem?

          • al_ghul

only change to another region, then return to previous. reverting from new startpage and reloading didn’t work!

      • Sidney Moraes

After changing the region it is working again, thanks 🙂

        • Sorry about that. Opera developer is also testing stream for Discover and other features.

  • taneli

I didn’t have to go fork default_partner_content.json after this update o/

  • taneli

Not sure if Flash’s problem, or Opera’s, but Youtube doesn’t remember the last sound level setting on videos (quite a good feature, actually) when using PPAPI flash, works on NPAPI.

  • Lacedaemon

    IT’S WORKING !!!! G’DAMN IT AT LAST !!!!!!!

    Thank you.

    • reesmichael1

Tell us how you really feel…. 😉

  • Wraith

Why opera is wasting time in things like this when there are other more important thing to do like Full Sync!.? Not a single word about the state of sync.!

    • Because this feature was ready now and sync isn’t. You can follow unfinished features by looking at the changelog.

    if enabled opera://flags/#enable-one-copy
all tabs content are only black
    Win7x64

    • FYI… works fine for me on a Win8 x64 system with the Intel Iris Pro Graphics 5200 GPU

    • Leonardo Gomes

Not happening here on Win8.1. However, opera://flags/#impl-side-painting and opera://flags/#enable-renderer-mojo-channel seem to be causing the black page issues here.

      • RX-3200

#impl-side-painting was fixed some builds ago from this bug
        in Win7x64 it work fine
        and so this flag enabled

“mojo” was broken in all prev. builds – and it’s not fixed in this build
        so this flag disabled

“one-copy” causing the black page issues here
so if this flag disabled – content is visible

  • icetom

“Opera’s Discover feature has added a Gaming category.”
did anyone here actually ask for this?

    • Leonardo Gomes

They don’t need to add only what people have asked, you can add things that they think would be interesting.

      • icetom

they should focus only on the things requested first.

        • Leonardo Gomes

Why? Shouldn’t they try to surprise people, to innovate?

Sometimes i really don’t get it. People keep saying how (Opera) Presto was better but seem to forget that Presto could only have reached its position because Opera team were always adding things that people have never asked for.

          • Lacedaemon

Yes but don’t forget that Opera Presto wasn’t a reboot, in this case now, Opera is still missing too much basic stuff of Presto, one and a half year later.

          • AlexBrtn

Chromium and Safari took advertizing and the popular products. Those who passed to the Chromium or to a Safari probably never and didn’t know about the Opera. It is obvious to me. Why it isn’t obvious to you?

          • Leonardo Gomes

And what is the relation with the discussion? Sorry but i really couldn’t find it.

      • Tams80

Even Microsoft are going back on their “we know best what you want, deal with it” attitude. It’s time Opera did the same.

    • Several people, indeed. Its one of the most asked for features in Discover.

      • Magnus

        Is this a joke?

      • Tams80

And how many people care about discover?

  • dflyra

Let’s talk about the bookmarks manager. I admit that aesthetically it is spectacular and ‘different’ than other browsers but functionally it is worse than O12.

    1. I would like to see some splitting view (for example, folders showing in the side panel & urls in the right) allowing individual url dragging & dropping between folders. As it is now, I can only copy/paste urls. Of course any other implementation that would lead to the same result is welcome.
    2. There must be a way of sorting the bookmarks alphabetically and/or otherwise.
    3. There must be a recycle bin.
    4. There should be one bookmark ‘database’ which must contain every bookmarked url. Some urls from that bookmark ‘database’ could be presented in the speed-dial in a more personalized manner, but I believe that every bookmark must be in that url ‘database’. So, I think that every time a site is added to the speed-dial it must be automatically added to the bookmarks as well. One bookmark ‘database’ – one backup – one synchronization folder – only different presentations (you have already implemented that – partly – by replacing stash with ‘unsorted bookmarks’).
    That’s it for now!

    • al_ghul

and it will be good to see some sort of tree of bookmarks rather than multi-level approach, tree is visually more intuitive and none needs to get back from any bookmark folder to main bookmark catalogue. only simple list is unreadable for a longer time. also it will be useful to have bookmark’s address highlighted in lower left corner to see exact url string when pointing any bookmark.

      • Inquisitor

A Bookmark icon (with drop-down tree menu) on the address bar and an “Add Bookmark” option in the right click context menu, to add a bookmark to a (sub)folder quickly.

        • al_ghul

no!, I meant bookmark organizer/manager case to handle and manage bookmarks, where it would be better to have such tree, when one can see all bkm structure. menu is rather only for move to desired link in desired folder/category, not to search over it or to handle it, copy, move etc. and for that last case bkm manager was created.

besides bkm manager, I still insist developers to add option to highlight in lower left corner full url, when hovering with cursor above bkm icon in drop-down bkm menu and bkm bar menu. and of course it would be fine to have that in bkm manager also.

    • Lacedaemon

Most of us have the same opinion with you and we all want those perfectly sane features and even more, but to be honest, with everything being HTML coded as they do since O15, I wouldn’t expect even the half of it, nor the quality the native code provides.

      • al_ghul

I agree – it seems that all interlan pages in opera – settings, bkm manager, download list is quasi-html coded, so there is nearly no chance to behave like windows’ folder window, where one can select elements with ctrl, shifts etc. but it would be really useful…where are those old windows users? everything must be clicked-clicked in those new browsers?:/ that’s imo really wrong direction toward all those younger and unprofessional recreational users.

      • András Ács

I too think that it should be way more manageable than it is now, but respectfully disagree on using HTML as the reason for lack of these features. All of these things could be implemented in it, in a cross-platform and usable manner.
Actually I think _not_ using HTML for UIs these days is masochistic behaviour 🙂

        • Lacedaemon

I’m sorry for upsetting you, but the result we have since O15, which is inferior from what ‘ve used to, shows clearly that.

          • András Ács

            I’m not upset 🙂

          • Lacedaemon

            Ok, then 🙂

          • András Ács

Interfaces have changed, and the emphasis is on the smooth flow of frequent actions, with possibility of touch usage. More ‘advanced’ interactions tend to fall by the wayside, that’s true and I don’t like that, but both can be achieved I think and hope Opera manages to do it.

          • Lacedaemon

“but both can be achieved I think and hope Opera manages to do it.”

            Judging by what so far?

on ‘what we’ve used to’, that made me try again and again the third try maxthon browser, but taking all evening to shape it’s features to resemble thee-goo’-ol’-opera…and, well, end TOP simple impressions are now: FASTER, more fluent, less ram on not powerful hardware. actually the last OperaDev updates forced me to seek for faster behaviour…

          • Lacedaemon

yeah I tried Maxthon in the past but it didn’t have adblock, ghostery etc at that time. I can give it another shot (although I prefer single-process browsers much more so I would go FF probably…)

          • al_ghul

well, today it has adhunter, but one need to fill it with some default filters for his country which can be found in forums. those for my country works quite good in most of time, only sometimes it fails. previous versions of maxthon were beta, now it is official and IMO works evidently more fluent and stable than previous on slower computers. well, actually maxthon in html5 test has the most highest rates, which suprised me:)

          • Lacedaemon

How is it possible that these extensions are valid for Mac but not for Windows?

            http://www.maxthon.com/mac/ext/#

          • al_ghul

it’s really funny…it seems that maxthon extensions use also some things in system itself…I really don’t know. well talking about fluent work of maxthon, I meant version 4.4.1.5000, which is previous version, NOT last. in last version they add some special effects which make browser less fluent, also in html5 test, peacekeeper and css3 has lower notes (well somebodies claim that maxthon uses webkit code which is unnoficial and under testes/not stable, that’s why it hit the top, well I don’t mind however;P). anyway, newer version seems to be more bloated with effects, but rather not functionality, so I revert to 4.4.1.5000 to stick with fast one which works fluent. I have now 26 tabs, still 20% CPU, 2GB ram, not apparent lags in GUI, web scroll/change, windows etc.:)

    • Regarding “there must be a recycle bin”. No, there musn’t. However, there must be a method to undo deletions so its not a irrevocable and destructive action. The trash bin is just one method to achieve that.

      • Lacedaemon

So you are saying that it makes more sense right-clicking items and clicking on delete in a horizontal working GUI environment you have intentionally created, rather than having another *special folder* like the ones on the left where one can horizontally (=the same philosophy) move the items for deletion? No, that doesn’t make any designing sense at all.

P.S. Of course the user could create a new folder named *Delete bookmarks* but it’s not the same from a conceptual and designing view.

        • al_ghul

well, You mixed procedures to delete the bkm’s items with the effect – undo-able deletion/moving to trash. it can have folder-like+undo philosophy, but can be also some kind of pull-down list, or side-button, like in office packages, which reproduces some kind of list/bar/window/etc. which contains deleted elements. that’s how I understand Daniel’s comment.

          • Lacedaemon

that’s nice and all but how are you going to delete a bookmark? By right-clicking it like it is now? The whole concept of this GUI-Bookmarks is doing horizontal actions for everything. (i.e moving bmks on the right, moving bmks from the right to the left (folders), moving folders in each other, moving folders to change their position on the left, etc..) Everything is designed for horizontal mouse actions.

          • al_ghul

well, in pull-down menu I have to right click, in bkm manager – there is right click, or better – right floating controls with ‘X’ button. I thought You meant a bkm MANAGER case of deleting items, but I see You don’t.

well, in the case of pull-down menu or bkm bar, as we use there mouse drag actions, (as You said) – moving to trash would be quite nice and YES – intuitive. but for me, the two-stage of deleting with right click and simple click ‘delete’ make it more conscious (some kind of verification of our decisions). it makes me thing that none can delete item with only one click accidentally, so I rather cannot imagine with those technics MY need of folder-like trash. but maybe other users can;).

ok, from the other side, if I understand You correctly – there is no such thing e.g. in Firefox, am I right?;)

          • Lacedaemon

“I thought You meant a bkm MANAGER case of deleting items, but I see You don’t.”

No, of course I mean the bkm manager, that’s the new thing, and all the talk about how the GUI needs to be improved, the bars and menus… we ‘ve seen them for so many years, nothing spectacular.

      • Trash Bin, Dropdown list, button, icon, whatever, don’t be so square.

    • P0lip

“I admit that aesthetically it is spectacular and ‘different’ than other browsers” Then have a look at this :). Notice the date – 02.06.2014

Blackout! Win 7 Pro x64. Any advice how to resolve this, except clean install?

    • al_ghul
      • Кostadin

Yes, I noticed it, but I cannot disable it without seeing a thing 🙂

        • taneli

I forgot how to change it, but someone provided an answer for it here: https://blogs.opera.com/desktop/2014/09/pdf-viewer-included-opera-developer-25-update/#disqus_thread
Sorry, too busy to go through the thread myself now, but it was about the new “Mojo” flag (there was help on how to change them outside of the browser.

        • taneli

          From Vux777 i found this:

for those who can’t start Opera after messing with flags (black screen)

add –no-experiments to shortcut and then reset all flags…. that mojo thingieis main suspect

          And from Leonardo Gomez:
It’s also possible to edit Local State file and remove the flag(s).

          • Кostadin

–no-experiments did the job. Thank you all!

          • Yep I tried Mojo a few builds ago and got constant crashes, until I turned the flag off

        • al_ghul

          yeah, right:PP

  • Кostadin

The Blackening! The whole window apart from adressbar is black. Any advice how to resolve this?

    • al_ghul

heh, OFFTOP;) I see new opera has now a tab bar in the bottom, huehuehue:DD it looks nice if one doesn’t click “see more” button;)

    • tdudziec

      this one is very interesting

What address have you navigated to ?

  • András Ács

With this build, after a few minutes spent on 9gag I got an exploded desktop.

It’s Ubuntu 14.04 x64, using the default open source driver on a relatively old Radeon HD card (RV635). I’m guessing the craptastic Compiz has a hand in this.
I’m not sure I can (or want to) reproduce this but thought I let you know. It’s kind of beatutiful actually, changing with mouse movement.

Edit: the attached image disappeared? The attach button is gone too.

    • Lacedaemon

      nice!

    • Vux777

      It’s a modern art…
with Opera, you get more than just a browser 😀

    • Screensaver included with the browser, what a detail!!

      • András Ács

        Screen Smasher, for your pleasure

    • Its clearly our new Art-in-the-browser project.

  • al_ghul

well, in the last time I used previous dev version, and also in this version – after restart, the discover page is blank! after return to bookmarks – it works, but after returning to SD – the SD page is also blank. in new SD look discover page is also blank, bookmarks work, returning to new SD also works. one has to close tab and start new to SD work again, but with blank discover page in all SD versions. strange unstability of this build://

  • Charles Broam

so, I take it there is no 32bit linux developer deb version to download? 🙁 Guess I will just STAY GONE. Opera is dead to me.

    • Sorry, but as we just announced the immediate deprecation of 32-bit Mac support, you should not hold your breath for a 32-bit Linux version. Sorry about that. Time to upgrade!

P.S.: The Opera forum is much better suited for support questions.

      • Charles Broam

PS: just stop developing for Linux, if you are not going to take the Linux community seriously.

        • P0lip

I agree with you. They don’t take us seriously

          • ruduh

I agree with you. They don’t take us seriously(2).
Hugely disappointing !!! The only browser in the world for Linux(yes, I said ONLY) that doesn’t support 32 bits will be Opera.
Congratulations, you have always been very innovative, but this time you outdone in disregard for Linux lovers, OS principally known for its 32-bit lighter distros for PCs/Notebooks/Netbooks less potent.

          • ruduh

“Time to upgrade” for a better browser for Linux, even though my PC has 64-bit support. Opera for my Linux is dead too. Uninstalling right now… 🙁

          • ruduh

I agree with you. They don’t take us seriously(2).
Hugely disappointing !!! The only browser in the world for Linux(yes, I said ONLY) that doesn’t support 32 bits will be Opera.

        • There is a lot to do with a new browser engine and lots of code clean up to do in Blink

      • SQL

So Windows can be left behind as 32-bit but Mac and Linux can’t? :p

        • P0lip

Unix systems are just too good to have 32-bit version 😀

      • Charles Broam

Respect is a two way street. If you haven’t respected the Linux Community up to this point, Do you really think the Linux Community will even consider trying your crappy Chromiuim -based browser? I do not speak for everybody, but as for this Linux End User, OPERA IS DEAD TO ME.

        • András Ács

          My irony meter just broke.

      • Why not have the 32bit support load last (in a sub sub process or only when needed and then terminate when done)

Safari does the x64 plug ins first (can load 32 bit if needed)

    • András Ács

Even mobile is going 64-bit, and you can’t even buy 32-bit consumer processors for a good couple of years now.. why the hate? Why do you expect that Opera spend money on supporting the waning number of 32bit users?

For some development scenarios 32-bit OS might be needed (if that’s the case) but it’s a fraction of the fraction of users (still served by Firefox, etc).

  • Arturo Martínez

    On Linux;
Any idea to have the same color of the native theme?

    • Arjan van Leeuwen

It depends a bit on your environment, but what’s important to know is that Opera will be using your GTK2 theme, so that’s the one to change to get the color to change. I can’t see from the screenshot whether the other application you are showing is GTK3 or GTK2.

      • Arturo Martínez

Thanks for your reply, the app is Thunar, the theme is Greybird. I just noticed that Opera fits with the other themes but no with this one, I will see if I can tweak it.

  • Strange Silverlight is not showing in the plug ins (it showed in x86, but not x64)

    OS X 10.9.4

  • Leonardo Gomes

Since the last two or three builds, every update turns off all my extensions. Anyone else facing this issue?

    • Hm, next time it updates: could you follow your system’s event log to see if the browser crashes and restarts itself? That would disable extensions.

      • Leonardo Gomes

I’ll try to check it. Thanks for the reply.

  • Hookah1388 .

Still no #warn-about-insecure-content flag returned!!!! You’ve ruined my browsing experience with your loads of obstacles, Opera team. Thanks a lot.

    • Please contact the sites you see this alert on and ask them to fix their sites. The warning is there because the page author failed to take care of their own security.

It is unlikely that there will be an option to reduce the browser’s security policies like this.

P.S.: The Opera forum is much better suited for support questions.

    • al_ghul

IMO it will be good as an possible option. but talking about status bar, when we have appearing url cloud when pointing a link, I am not so sure if it’s so necessery…maybe for progress bar, but it can be also e.g. in address bar. well, progress bar is what I also lack in opera.

      • AlexBrtn

How to understand that the scale of 110% or 90% without opening menu (alt)?

        • al_ghul

well, I’m saying through MY experience – I don’t use it so often to have a need to have this permanently on screen, so FOR ME it’s not that neccessery. BUT YES – it makes it harder to use without opening menu. would be nice as an option in settings/flag, but I fear You won’t have sufficient supporters for that.

          • AlexBrtn

There was fantastically convenient browser on presto. And nobody told the silly words “you will have no supporters of this counter”. Simply someone in that command sat and made decisions on feasibility of this counter. If the panel isn’t necessary, it was possible to remove and set up it all browser under itself. And the gratitude to that command is very big percent of users the Opera. People thought for me and I was grateful to them using the Opera. It was art, instead of simply operation for that command.

          • al_ghul

but they have really elastic their own source code with their huge brigade, which could do almost anything with that and make quite detailed requests. now they have really smaller team to work with, so that’s why small feedback. and of course they have new idea of the new browser in perspective of chrome engine possibilities/capabilities. and that’s why they’re now not so elastic. saying it simply – they can do MAINLY only what chrome source code can do. those are sad facts://

    • The zoom control is not as important anymore as it used to be. A site’s zoom level is stored as a site setting, so a site’s zoom level would only have to be adjusted once and then it would be remembered for that on.

The keyboard shortcuts control + and – are also quite convenient. Additionally, you could use the zoom exension.

P.S.: The Opera forum is much better suited for customization and support questions.

      • taneli

Could you elaborate on that “stored as a SITE setting”?
To me it seems to be working by as domain-basis. (Which is, indeed quite irritating, site based on the other hand would make quite some sense.)

      • AlexBrtn

I know. It was spoken about visualization % of increase.

  • pseudo555

Could someone explain me why when i open all kinks from a folder in speedial, the link to this desktop blog is always redirect to the russian blog ?

    • I have the same problem. At the first entry after the opening of Opera I am redirected to the https://blogs.opera.com/russia/ URL. The next entries aren’t affected with this symptom.

    • What is the exact link you get and where is it redirected?

Any chance you could capture the HTTP request and responds headers?

      • SQL

I can’t reproduce this anymore with Fiddler open now, idk why. The link i got was https://blogs.opera.com/russia/

It didn’t happen to me all the time tho, idk what triggered it.

        • taneli

For me it happens abt. 1 times in 50… might be time related too (?).
And apparently this started happening to quite a many last week.

      • SQL

Ok spoke too soon; What happens is this: I open the link from my speeddial and while the page is still loading i switch to another tab, then all of a sudden the page name in the tab switches to russian cyrillics and it’s actually on the russian site.

I don’t understand why Fiddler didn’t even pick that event up? Maybe because it first entered the correct url? In history it shows that i’ve first entered The Desktop Team’s blog and then the russian site.

      • rufu2

Just had this for the first time: I have https://blogs.opera.com/desktop in a pinned tab. Now I started Opera, and when I switched to the pinned tab, it showed the russian blog.
Using ODev on Win7 x64, USB install, with restore last tabs at startup.

      • pseudo555

this blog redirect to https://blogs.opera.com/russia generally after opera start, when i open all links from a folder in SD.

I will try to get you the http request & responds hearder

      • pseudo555

        https://blogs.opera.com/desktop is redirected to https://blogs.opera.com/russia/

As this links is part of a SD folder, this issue always occurs when i open all links from the SD folder after opera start.

  • rufu2

Is there a way to disable Discover? I’m ignoring it at the moment, might as well disable it?

    • Sidney Moraes

There is no way to disable atm, sorry.

      • Tho you can disable preloading of the Discover content in the settings

        • rufu2

Thank you, I forgot that I did that already.

    • Big contradiction that of yours. You can’t ignore something and be bothered by it at the same time. It bothers you, so you can´t ignore it.

      • rufu2

I’m not bothered by it, really. I have turned off the preloading of content so that it shouldn’t use any bandwith. I just never click on the discover icon, except when I try to test something after it was mentioned on this blog. This time, I was looking for the games addition, played around a while with Discover, selecting and deselecting topics and languages.
Then I thought about what could be an improvement that would make Discover more interesting to me — see my other post.
Also, I thought, maybe people who don’t want to use Discover should be able to disable it. Hence the question in this post. Remember how Opera used to be extremely configurable? When they introduced the “unite” server feature, this was an option that could be completely disabled.

But I’m also OK with the status quo: no preloading anything, never click on that button.

    • Vux777

      you can put
      127.0.0.1 api.recsys.opera.com recsys.op-cdn.net
in hosts file (C:WindowsSystem32driversetchosts) and it will block Discover completely…but you will still have that button on SD and empty page when you click on it

      • rufu2

That empty page is very nice and serene. 🙂 Maybe I should use that theme and use a blocked Discover page when I need a break 🙂

  • al_ghul

ok, going on with ‘disable’ topics;) is there a way to disable tab close button, when one uses only the middle mouse button to do this? I sometimes click close when changing tab with mouse, it’s little annoying:/

    • taneli

Indeed, been asking for this since… since O15 :/

      • al_ghul

me too, but as we see, it should be picked-up from time to time:P

    • Its technically doable. You could remove the plus icon graphic and the button would collapse to just 4px. Totally unsupported, of course, and its not likely to ever be supported. Keep an eye on the opera://flags#tab-menu.

P.S.: The Opera forum is much better suited for support and customization questions.

      • al_ghul

well, I mainly wanted not to click on ‘X’ by accident, rather than make tab items narrower, but yes, it could be also positive if one handles with a lot of tabs;)

well, removing icon is out of my possibilities;). as I remember from last post, tab-menu still isn’t ready, is it?

yes, I agree, but, as You said – it’s not even implemented, or technically possible, so I’d rather posted it here when it can be (or not) take into account by devs, whose dealing with source code and know if it’s even possible or not.

besides – is it possible to make such extension, which can disable close button?

        • taneli

I hope, what he meant by the “tab-menu”, is to watch out since it might also have some customization options in the future! (IIRC i saw some icon on some mac users screenshot of it).

  • rufu2

About Discover: If I were using it, I would like to select multiple countries, and I would like to de-select certain sources. Also I would love to add RSS feeds of any page that I want.

    • Multilingual/-regional users have not been a priority. Frankly, because the sorting algorithms would have a fit if it had to deal with multiple languages. Maybe at a later time.

      • rufu2

OK, thanks for the info. As I said, I’m not using Discover right now anyway, but this would make it interesting to me.
Just an idea: If it were possible to add RSS feeds (maybe just showing the latest n entries) then there wouldn’t need to be any sorting algorithm for those, IMHO. The user chose them, he gets to see them, just sorted by date.

    • You must have a huge screen, and a big desk.

  • Release O26 Dev and Move 25 to Next already!!

    • Lacedaemon

No way man, they have to improve the Bookmarks before doing that! At least the multi-select moving/deleting/adding to SD thing! Or only if they assure us that O26 will be the official stable version of the new improved Bookmarks

      • Leonardo Gomes

They can do it on beta.

        • Lacedaemon

Judging by what they consider “new feature” and how little it changes during the different streams I wouldn’t bet on it.

          • So you actually expect to see big changes from Dev to Next to Stable?

Big changes come between versions, not between channels.

Of course you can’t bet on it, because that’s not going to happen, because it doesn’t work that way.

      • That is the purpose of those channels kiddo.

        Introduction, stabilization and implementation.
        Dev, Next, Stable.

I’m talking about the first two. And Bookmarks were announced as intended to be final in O25, so yes they must proceed to stabilize them in the current state, and improve them in the next iteration.

        • Lacedaemon

          https://blogs.opera.com/desktop/2014/09/opera-developer-25-gameium-update/#comment-1584518406

Also… exactly… stabilization you said. We don’t need stabilization, we need radical improvements before stabilizing (which is beta = too late = bad news)

          • Features are like weather and climate, short term and long term to be more precisse.

I’m afraid a proper explanation is way beyond me, but what I’m saying is features are NEVER complete, they can only achieve a certain grade of usability enough for most people and be released as stable for them, then be improved in later versions, not as a priority anymore and certainly not to your particular heart’s content, but not forgotten either.

Of course, unless they go the Opera 12 way, which is unlikely as for now.

      • That is the purpose of those channels kiddo.

        Introduction, stabilization and implementation.

its not ready yet, you still couldn’t toggle bookmark add/remove via the the heart icon even though you could toggle it via right click menu

      • Those changes are for newer versions, that is, if Opera even decides to implement them.

      • So you’re saying O26 Dev (Chromium 39) not until Sep 26 at least?

And I guess O25 can’t be moved to Next either, because of this. At least you can provide us some polished O24.

  • al_ghul

bkm manager this, bkm manager that, saying odlschool presto users;). ok, let’s handle with that WHAT WE HAVE already – the bkm list in bkm manager – list of one item under another – it can be quite huge, takes more height than width – YES? and scrollable, undistinguishable. SO? more space is needed in HEIGHT – WHY so big vertical space on top with those search field, icon/list button? it will be more useful when USE EXISTED side-space developers:) like in other HateML;) internal Opera’s pages or old-newOpera’s brother – Chrome;). there are search fields in their side-spaces, NOT in top ones. simply let’s make even existed manager better:)

  • Bjørnar Berg

Great! This version works again for me on Fedora 20.

  • Inquisitor

http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/ not rendered correctly in O25

    (Windows DPI = 100%; Opera font size ‘normal’ = 16pt, page zoom = 100%).

It looks all right in O24.

(Just wondering why the fonts in O25 are larger than the same fonts with the same settings in other browsers?)

    • Inquisitor

It strikes me that there is such a big difference in font rendering between O24 and O25. In both, I have DirectWrite and HiDPI enabled, with Windows DPI is set to 100%. In O24 fonts look very neat and tidy, while in O25 fonts are bigger and looking rather fuzzy (especially when bold), causing all kinds of problems (as in the example of the NHC above, but there are many more).

Crashes all the time on Yosemite DP 7 like the last build.

    • OS X 10.10 Yosemite is not yet supported by neither Opera nor Apple. Sorry to hear you are having a bad experience with an experimental version of a software on an experimental operating system. We’ll have it sorted out by the time Yosemite is released.

      • Olli

I just mentioned it since the builds before all ran well on Yosemite and since this is all based on Chromium canary builds, which already include fixes for Yosemite, I thought you might be interested – especially because Yosemite might come out around the time Opera 25 goes stable. And since Developer Previews are made for Developers to fix bugs in software BEFORE the release of the GM to the public….
People don’t want to install Yosemite when it’s gone final and find out that Opera is crashing. So I thought every bug has to be found as soon as possible – as long as you want to support the newest OS X when it is released. So now you know about that bug and can fix it before the final version of Yosemite – that’s good!

Also: Yosemite DP 7 is in no way “experimental”, it’s an extremely stable Beta release close to Golden Master. Also: I can imagine that these frequent crashes have nothing to do with Yosemite but with the 64-bit switch on OS X and are present on all supported system versions.

  • David_Gould

There’s an obscure bug when using Facebook with the extension FB Purity. User chosen backgrounds partly scroll when they’re not supposed to.

    It worked fine in 23.

    • Please contact the extension developer when you have problems with an extension.

      • David_Gould

I would but the problem seems to be a bug introduced into Opera 25 (or 24).
As I said, the same extension worked fine in Opera 23.

      • David_Gould

        Fixed in Next version, thanks.

  • oic

could the “unsorted” and “user_root” folder in imported bookmarks folder be deleted or will it screw something up

    • András Ács

AFAIK these are leftovers from earlier test versions, I already deleted them.
Anyway, deleting bookmark folders shouldn’t screw up things, hopefully 🙂

  • András Ács

I have the “text-scaling-factor” gsetting on 0.9, which gives farily nice system font sizes. I appreciate that Opera uses this setting now, but scales its fonts too small at that value, becoming hard to read. What Opera gives around 0.95-96 would be ideal at 0.9 I think. (“Ordinary” DPI monitor here at 1680×1050)

    • In Settings: Websites you can increase font zoom and page zoom to fit your preferences.

P.S. The Opera forum is must better suited for support questions.

      • András Ács

        Thanks for your answer!

I have been using it on 110% zoom, and it works almost perfect, but some images and other elements have noticeable alignment and sizing problems, even in internal pages. It is tolerable though, and here’s hoping it will be improved.

bug or feature? I couldn’t move reading list, shopping, travel, video from “my folder” bookmark unless I click “my folders” first (left panel) and move those folders from the right panel

    • How did you want to move them? Drag-to-rearrange?

      • oic

I think you guys wanted “my folder” to be treated as the main place where all bookmarks are store, but currently mine remains empty. Most of my bookmarks (1k+) are currently stored under “bookmark bar” because its like a side panel, which means I have access to all my bookmarks and my browser at the same time.

Drag and rearrange folder within “my folder” already work, just that dragging any folders from the right panel to “bookmark bar” doesn’t work, unless I follow the step I mentioned above

  • Drake Xiang

Do you ever plan to add “open new tab in background” ?
And I strongly recommend “customizing mouse gesture” and “link dragging” to be added

    • Hold the Control key when you click on a link to open it in the background. You can also open a link in the background from the link context-menu by holding the Shift key.

You can drag links by dragging them downwards. Sidewards select text.

P.S. The Opera forum is must better suited for support questions.

      • Lacedaemon

Daniel, Shift+Click on SD Folders (in new window) please.

      • IllusionMH

        >> Sidewards select text.

Can you explain what do you mean?
I can’t select text from the middle of the long link even when moving mouse horizontally.

      • Drake Xiang

Can’t believe I got replied! Thanks for instruction about “open link in background”. I’m aware of those methods opening links in background, most of the the time I’m just too lazy to lift my another hand to hold a key, maybe because I had to do this a LOT often. I also refuse to achieve this goal by clicking mouse wheel button, partly because this button usually doesn’t give back a good pressure feedback as the other two mouse buttons do, in another words: it requires a little more pressure to click and it somehow bothers me.

I don’t know how is everything there in Norway, here, in China, there are so many kinds of browsers created also based on chromium, and I can tell you that almost every of them has the option “open new tab in background”, maybe it’s a regional thing?

Reason we use this function so often are:
1.Network connection speed here is not very fast, 4Mbps on average, counted in other elements that affect on connection speed, it usually takes 2 or 3 seconds even more to open a web page. Internet has made people more and more impatient, we don’t like spend several seconds every time we open a new page, so we load the pages in background and read them without a glance of a blank page.

2.As I mentioned above, load pages in background so I can read them later. It feels like opera stash, but in a short time term. When I go through a web page from top to bottom, I load every link I’m interested in in background like a shopping cart, so when I finished the page I’ve got everything I need loaded up in background, next I just close the current page and read them all.

3.Some web sites opens links in the existing tab, it’s real awful experience. But it could solved by open links in new tabs in background.

About link dragging, I’m not sure if you really got what I mean. Actually when I drag a link, I was hoping open it in background like the 3rd point I said. When opera still used presto, I always turned on “enable dragging” and set a parameter to 255 to achieve this function, those were good days 🙂 But now it’s mission impossible.

A few words about mouse gesture, why you guys only provide limited gestures and cannot be modified? I’m not gonna ramble on this, just saying I’d like to scroll to top or bottom of web page and restore closed page using mouse gesture. If you already build in this function, why not open it more?

It is said that opera doesn’t care his users, he just do what he thinks right and ask user to adapt to him, even though his user proportion is always around 2% 😀

I think it’s partly true because a web browser is first —- good using experience (e.g. mouse gesture/bookmarks/ways of dealing with new tabs and links etc.); then second —- compatibility/capability/optimization. When opera 15 came out, there’s not using experience at all, but I still keep opera on my PC while I was trying other browsers until today. However I still can’t say opera today gives me a good using experience although it definitely has improved a lot. What I’m trying to say is that opera should give user habit higher priority to make opera a more friendly browser, then you focus on those technical issues. I’ve been using opera since opera 10.X and I love opera for its simple, efficient, creative and reliable, but if I have to tolerate something to enjoy the product, the only thing I can do is watching how it goes from another browser.

        • al_ghul

I agree, especially with Your points whose explain the reason to use ‘open in background’ option. I do this by mouse wheel click, but understand to have also some efficient alternative – e.g. using touchpad during traveling.

    • Guest

and mouse middle button click doesn’t work? IMO it’s the best and default solution;)

    • L33t4opera

Hi, perhaps the “Open new tab“, or the “LongClick New Tab“, will meet your expectations in regard to open links in a new tab in the background. To be able to install the second one, you need to install first one of the following extensions: “Extension source viewer“, or “Download Chrome Extension“.

  • ahoj1234

new windows are opened in not maximized state – confirmation? (occurred with this build AFAIK).
    w8.1 x64

    • al_ghul

same here, win7x64. maybe that was the aim? or even didn’t plan to change it?

    • Leonardo Gomes

Here they open maximized if i manually open them. Same OS.

      • ahoj1234

well, no matter how I open them (ctrl+N, ctrl+shift+N, Opera->open new tab etc…) it always is in state “almost maximized” but not maximized.
so it’s weird. At least I god one confirmation before your post so it’s really not (only) my fault. Anyway, this bug occurred only in this build AFAIK. are you really sure that new windows are opened maximized with minimize icon? that could be hard to fix if it’s not reproducible everywhere… and trust me, it’s annoying as hell.

        • al_ghul

yes, whatever method I use, it always causes ‘almost maximized’ new window;). well, opposite to You, it doesn’t annoys me as much as You;)

        • Leonardo Gomes

Hmm, what do you mean by “almost maximized”?

I’ve tried many times and the new window always open maximized as the current one.

          • ahoj1234

hard to explain… it’s in the full size in some way. But moved by a few pixels to the right and down..
So because of that move it’s not maximized (you will see maximize icon instead of restore from maximize). also “al_ghui” used phase “almost maximized” because it’s hard to find any better explanation for that.
hope you understand. If not, it doesn’t matter 😀 since the bug is not occurred on your PC.

    • mb

  • al_ghul

ok, I have question for moderators: where can I find some kind of ‘term of use’ of commenting in this blog, besides those several rules in ‘commenting policy’, because sometimes I am not sure what things can be posted here and what not (prepositions, bug-reports, crashes, questions, support etc.) in regard to last opera versions.

personally, I use this comments rather than opera forum, as it seems users here have much more and quick feedback from the crew, and up/down vote simply shows if smth is even reasonable or not.

I guess the dream of Opera lovers(not average users, maybe power users) is a method for reload only favicons of bookmarks after cleaning up browsing data, like Maxthon(internal build) or Firefox(extension=FaviconReloader).

YES!, i’ve tried once again new maxthon for test yesterday – it has exact feature and actually I tried it today when encounter this accidentaly (that feature’s been my dream in the past) – AWESOME:) small thing, but makes a joy:)) would be nice, but for new opera still long road and the hope remains:)

please add tab switching with mouse wheel on tab bar. chrome always had this functionality. that’s what I always missed in windows browsers… 🙁

    • al_ghul

OFFTOP: well, chrome doesn’t have that on default as I see. how to turn it on?

      • _artem_

it’s in chrome on Linux. windows chrome doesn’t have that. and opera doesn’t have this on both platforms

    • taneli

Or how ’bout the good old hold mouse right down + mouse wheel.

      • _artem_

        focus changes to browser…
on Linux in chrome you can have another application in focus (active, above). and still can switch tabs in chrome while not loosing focus from another application

        • taneli

Did not know it worked like that (out of focus), anyway, i still wouldn’t mind right-clic + mouse wheel ;p

    • L33t4opera

Hi, you can try the MoreGestures extension, it’s not perfect yet, but among other functions, it performs mouse wheel gestures, similar to those in Opera 12 😉

      • taneli

Was thinking more along the lines of actually changing the tab on scroll, not showing a list for it 😉
        But nice addon though!

Adobe flash is preventing youtube from switching to html5.

And what about sync, bookmarks and the key shortcuts ? Opera is now nothing more than a copy of chrome….. -_-

    • Kyryło

Bookmarks manager already available as experimental function, and i believe Opera is going to include it in the next stable release (Opera 25). The next step should be sync.

  • Dmitry Kirin

There was some discussion long ago about Light font variants. I don’t remember if it has had any result, so I’m writing again: It would be nice if Opera displayed the font Segoe UI Light properly, like IE does. Currently, it is shown as a fallback font (Arial). Firefox does not show it properly either…)

The Windows build is still 32 bits, isn’t it?

      • L33t4opera

Hi Leonardo, yep, I did mistake, I’m going to correct it right now, thanks 😉

  • dflyra

The synchronization problem has been inherited from developer and really starts to get on my nerves! I suspect it has something to do with the new speed-dial. Please do something.

Is it just FLASH’s fault that PPAPI flash quality is terrible?

So annoying, Opera gets “stuck” with NPAPI, but not with PPAPI, and PPAPI suffers from poor quality video and several other problems. -,-

    • Leonardo Gomes

Ppapi flash videos seem ok here.

  • pseudo555

    New bug ?

I open a youtube page. Flash player runs fine. I close the page.

I close the page and open a new tab using the same URL, flash player displays video this time.

I’m browsing a forum thread which has a ton of youtube videos linked in… after 20 pages the browser starts to get sluggish, very slow loading, also the Developer Tools Task Manager says that GPU process is taking 3 gigs of memory after this.
Doesn’t it free any memory at any time or…?

  • God

    I have a suggestion.
In Opera, when I thumb through photos on Facebook and download which i like, I CAN’T continue flipping album by pressing arrows. To continue flipping, I need to click on the page.
In Chrome, the focus does not change and I can continue to browse photos and save them without interrupting.

  • taneli

More on the Flash front: PPAPI Flash, for some reason phucks up with youtube, if you don’t interact with it for couple of minutes, it won’t load anymore, eg: Watch an hour long video for 5 minutes, try to skip, nope, you get an error “video couldn’t be loaded”, hard to watch long videos when you need to pause them some times, just have to refresh the page and find the location in film again.
This doesn’t happen with NPAPI, but NPAPI fucks up Opera so that’s unusable.
Gimme something that i can watch youtube with -,-
