This is how you get started with free 50MB

The 50MB of daily free browsing is only available for select Opera Mini users who are on the MTN network in South Africa.

Because we like to play fair, we are providing free browsing to those who need it the most since the COVID-19 outbreak started. What this means is that if you haven’t been able to access mobile data during the last month, you will be among the first ones to qualify for getting 50MB’s of free browsing in Opera Mini.

Qualifying MTN customers will be notified via SMS of the FREE 50MB daily browsing data in Opera Mini. After receiving this message, all a customer needs to do is open or download the Opera Mini browser and start enjoying the internet free at their fingertips.

The free daily data only covers browsing within Opera Mini. The data package does not include reading news feeds, video streaming or downloading files from the internet. Additional usage on Opera Mini will be charged out of your normal data / airtime wallet. Free browsing and search applies when visiting any website or Opera Mini speed dials you want.

If you are a prepaid (PayAsYouGo) MTN customer, you get free browsing data when browsing via the Opera Mini browser. The free browsing is capped daily at 50MB and is available to select customers (Low and non-data users).

Am I eligible to use the 50MB of free data?

Free data is available for Opera Mini users on the MTN network. If you are a low / non data user ie. you have not bought prepaid data bundles with MTN within the last month, you will have a higher opportunity of being gifted 50MB of free browsing data in Opera Mini.
