We’re excited to introduce a new feature in our loyalty program: the ability to earn CELO, a digital token with real-world value, simply by using Opera for Android, Opera Mini and Opera News.

If you’re in a supported country and install or update to an eligible version of Opera for Android, Opera Mini or Opera News, we’ll automatically create a built-in non-custodial wallet for you for the purpose of participating in the program.

No complicated setup is required. Just install or update the application and get started.

Keep earning points as usual

Nothing changes about how you earn points today.

Users can continue earning points by completing missions, including:

One-off missions

Make the browser default	40 points
Log in to Google	20 points
Set wallpaper	16  points
Activate MiniPay	20 points

Daily browsing missions – EAYB (Earn As You Browse) and News

Extra points are available for both of these daily missions if a user has one more multipliers active. The two available multipliers are being logged into Google or making Opera the default browser.

Streak mission

For the streak mission you get rewarded with more points if you have maintained a streak of a certain length.

Points remain part of the Opera Rewards experience and can continue to be earned alongside CELO rewards.

Start earning CELO

If you’re in a supported country and meet the weekly eligibility requirements for your Opera product, you can also earn CELO.

Users who meet all applicable eligibility requirements during the qualification week will receive 0.6148 CELO on the weekly payout day (Monday).

CELO qualification is assessed separately for Opera Mini, Opera for Android and Opera News, as each application has different eligibility requirements.

How to qualify for CELO rewards

Eligibility is calculated over each weekly qualification period.

Opera Mini

To qualify through Opera Mini, users must:

• Use Opera Mini version 99.2 or a later version
• Stay logged into their Google account throughout the qualification period, without logging out and back in
• Keep Opera Mini set as their default browser throughout the qualification period
• Generate at least 1 pageview on each active day
• Be active on at least 5 out of 7 days during the week
• Have the MiniPay sub-app activated

Opera for Android

To qualify through Opera for Android, users must:

• Use Opera for Android version 98.0 or an eligible later version
• Stay logged into their Google account throughout the qualification period, without logging out and back in
• Keep Opera for Android set as their default browser throughout the qualification period
• Generate at least 15 pageviews on each active day
• Be active every day of the 7-day qualification period

Opera News

To qualify through Opera News, users must:

• Use Opera News version 14.0 or an eligible later version
• Be active every day of the 7-day qualification period
• Click at least 8 news articles each day

Opera News users do not need to meet the Google login or default-browser requirements that apply to Opera Mini and Opera for Android.

Where CELO rewards are available

CELO rewards are currently available to eligible users in:

Nigeria, South Africa, Indonesia, India, Kenya, Ghana, Tanzania, Uganda, Cameroon, Malaysia, Philippines, Zimbabwe, Chile, Colombia, Peru, Uruguay, Argentina, Mexico, New Zealand, Australia, Vietnam, Thailand, Zambia, Senegal, Rwanda, Niger, Mali, Guinea-Bissau, Guinea, Gabon, Côte d’Ivoire, Congo – Kinshasa, Congo – Brazzaville, Chad, Malawi, Burkina Faso and Benin.

How can I cash out my CELO?

What determines how much CELO I earn?

Users who satisfy all applicable eligibility requirements for a given week are eligible to receive 0.6148 CELO on the weekly payout day.

The number of points you earn does not change the standard CELO reward amount.

Do I need to earn points to qualify for CELO?

CELO eligibility is based on the weekly requirements for the Opera product you use.

You can continue earning points through missions, browsing, reading and streaks, but earning more points does not by itself replace the weekly CELO eligibility requirements.

What happens if I opt out of Rewards?

You can opt out of Rewards at any time in Settings.

If you opt out, you will stop earning both points and CELO and will only become eligible to earn them again after opting back in and meeting the applicable requirements.

Your existing points and CELO balance will remain unaffected if you later opt back in, assuming you have not changed device or otherwise lost access to the associated wallet.

What is a non-custodial wallet?

A non-custodial wallet is a crypto wallet where you have control of the keys used to access your funds rather than relying on a third party to hold them on your behalf.

This gives you control over access to and transactions from your wallet.
