Win over $300,000 in prizes during the World Cup with Opera’s “Shake and Win” campaign

The World Cup is upon us, and we know how excited so many of you are! We at Opera want to celebrate along with you, which is why we’re announcing Shake and Win, a contest that will bring you closer to the action while offering hundreds of thousands of dollars in prizes.

Shake and Win will kick off on November 20th, and all you have to do is just shake your phone to have a chance at winning daily prizes! You can access Shake and Win inside our hugely popular Opera Mini browser, which over 100 million across Africa already use because of just how much data it saves (up to 90%!). So if you don’t have Opera Mini yet, download it!

You can also access Shake and Win through Opera for Android or our designated football news platform, Apex Football. We designed Apex especially with our African users in mind, since so many of you want quick football updates and in-depth analysis.

On either platform you will see a floating button or an in-app notification that, if you click, will take you to the Shake and Win homepage. From there, just shake! Once you do, you can potentially win either a puzzle piece or an immediate prize. Puzzle pieces are for our bigger prizes – including brand-new smartphones! – and so you’ll need to collect five more over the course of the competition to win. Other prizes include airtime from popular providers – including MTN, Safaricom, Airtel, and AirtelTigo and many more – and cash prizes. The total amount of winnings is over $300,000, so get shaking!

If you’re looking for something that tests your football knowledge a little bit more, we’ve also got something for you: a Predictor game, in which you can win up to $10,000 per round just by accurately entering the scores of the upcoming matches! Once again, you can access the Predictor game’s homepage through sections within Opera Mini and Apex Football. Once you’re there, show off how much you know about the teams in this year’s tournament by predicting the outcomes!

Finally, to make it easier for you to follow the action, we’ve updated the Opera Mini browser so that it shows live scores right there on the homepage. So rather than jump to a different site and use up more data, you just need to open up Opera Mini to see the latest.
