Thanks, Mumbai for cheering up 2014’s last #OperaMeetup
If you’re from Mumbai, you are familiar with the “one hour buffer”. It’s one of those unsaid things. Events, meetings, even a casual evening with friends, are planned with a one hour delay in mind.
And, on the heels of Christmas, you’re probably ready to become more generous with that buffer. If you see people pouring in early time, it’s nothing short of a Christmas miracle. Mumbai is full of surprises.
Here’s a big high-five to all those early birds who attended the recent #OperaMeetup. You really set the mark.
After a surprisingly timely opening, our cosy venue, Doolally, started filling up and Shwetank didn’t waste any time. We got right to the point: hang out with our Opera community and get your feedback.
The ice breaking session was so great that it took us a while to officially welcome everyone. Shwetank showed what an awesome year we had:
- Opera Mini became India’s third largest app, reaching over 50 million Indians, and we danced our hearts out with our global CEO to celebrate.
- We launched new browsers for iOS, Android, Windows, TV, even smartwatches.
- We took over Microsoft’s browser business.
- We simplified Indian data plans, making them easier on your wallet.
Wow, there’s quite a bit that happened this year!
After the recap was our favorite part, interacting with you. We received many questions and great feedback.
We are happy that just a few days after launching the newest version of Opera Coast, people were already excited about it. It was awesome to get their opinions on the update. We hope Indians will love this browser even more, now that we’ve added data-savings with Opera Turbo.
Many of you were interested in Opera Max. We assure you it’s coming soon. Perhaps before our next meet-up.
And, of course, it’s always great to catch up with developers who want to work with us. We hope the Opera Mobile Store works well for you, and we thank you for your questions.
We had our signature Opera pop quiz, and Mumbai outdid itself. We heard you shout answers even before we finished the questions. With so many contenders, it became a speed test!
After this engaging session came the Christmas festivities – red caps, red Opera cake, a tree with gifts hiding below, the works. We even gave those who came a Christmas wish-list for our browsers. If Santa pulls your wish out of his bag, not only will your feature be integrated in the browser, you’ll also win some goodies.
Mumbai brought cheer to our last #OperaMeetup for 2014. We had an amazing time and we hope you did, too. Thanks for dropping by and keep in touch with us. We love to hear from all of you.
If you joined us in Mumbai, tell us how your #OperaMeetup experience was. If there’s something you’d like us to add, or if you have any more feedback, let us know in the comments section below. We’ll try our best to make it happen.
Cheers!
