Nice and thanks, Marcin, for this Opera Developer build 32.0.1933.0 update which includes Chromium 45.0.2450.0 and other bug-fixes !

    • Lacedaemon

Yes, thanks for removing the share feature! I’m so happy !

      • shane

Yes agreed, it’s great to see Opera devs recognising and admitting to features that are redundant and removing them instead of wasting money and time on them. It allows more resources to be spent on useful features.

  • Zero Kiryu

Where did bookmark share button and shared bookmarks folder go in bookmarks manager? Also I expected new stable 31 build, not new developer build.

    • SuperTommy

      See DNA-40910 in the changelog.

  • Nekomajin43

    Aaand no sidebar fixes. Again.

    • Matheus Bombonato

      Another sad week 🙁

  • lastpass + speeddial2 not working ( extensions 🙂

    • Marcin Mitek

There are some problems with Last Pass extension, we are working on it already.

      • Nerdebeu

LastPass has been updated yesterday. On the previous version of Opera Dev, no problem. With the installation of the 32.0.1933.0, opening and closing of Opera in a loop. And finally Opera completely removes the extension folder. I have lost 30 minutes to find what extension was responsible for my crashes 😉

Opera and LastPass should not be updated at the same time XD

        • Camis

          Known issues:
Crash after upgrading Opera with Last Pass extensions installed

          • Nerdebeu

Yes, but with auto update, you see the changelog after…

        • CrashNBurn71

My LastPass hasn’t been updated since March. Opera 1933 still sent it in a crash loop, and made the browser completely useless. As is, any of my browsers are next to useless without LastPass. I almost can’t believe Opera would force a version out with such a heinous *known* bug.

      • How can we disable LastPass (or all extensions) upon starting the browser, so that we can use it?

        • Vux777

go to your profile, open preferences file and search for
          hnjalnkldgigidggphhmacmimbdlafdo

you will probably have 3 hits…
after second scroll a little to find “state”:1
change it to 0 and start Opera….lastPass will be disabled

          • Thank you! I decided to approach it by looking for the name in the Extensions folder and nuke it altogether. (Well, prepend BAK_ to the folder name, anyway.) 😉

I’m now happily using Opera developer again. I lost all open tabs, but they were just three or four because I’m now a heavy user of the V7 Sessions and Stash extensions so I don’t have to keep so many tabs open. 😀

          • Tomasz Procków

            Nice to hear that 🙂

          • Vux777

nuking extension folder is one way to do it…:)
but i think it will leave some leftovers (maybe storage, or in preferences…not sure)

          • Yes, I guess I will reinstall LastPass when a fix is out (be it in the extension or the browser) and maybe I’ll be lucky and have all my data back. 🙂

        • Leonardo Gomes

Try starting Opera with command line –disable-extensions

      • CrashNBurn71

So I tried to run Opera 32.0.1926.0, from its folder. It ran – and then updated itself to 1933. Then went in a constant crash loop.

Apparently there isn’t even an option anymore to stop Opera from updating itself. So then I tried to download 1926 again. Apparently we can’t do that either.

I tried to make Opera use the 1926 folder, instead of 1933. Not possible. Running Opera from the 1926 folder, just runs 1933 (or it auto-updates).

So I copied the contents of the 1926 folder, to 1933, then removed the inherited permissions from “opera_autoupdate.exe”.

So am I correct, the only way to prevent crap like this is to hack files and disable the updater? Because quite frankly thats almost unbelievable — that Opera **actively** prevents you from running the version you want/need to use.

  • x a

You really developed a talent to kill the most useful features, you invent:

DNA-40910 Phase 1 of shutting down share, remove the share button in the BM manager ☣

    • Pavel Aleksandrov

Who EVER used the share feature? It’s called copy -> paste. This is a step in the right direction. Shame that they even wasted any time on it, trying to introduce ‘functionality’ that doesn’t exist anywhere else because no one and their grandma has asked for it.

      • x a

”Copy -> Paste“? You obviously don’t know, what this is about.

        • Pavel Aleksandrov

I do, it’s that ‘feature’ that allows you to make a link for one or more links (from your bookmarks only). This is actually worse than copy->pasting the actual link(s) since those won’t expire in 2 weeks.

          • x a

So you never bothered to share a collection of bookmarks, structured in a hierarchy of folders, equipped with screenshots/thumbnails, fine. But other people do.

I liked the automatic expiration date, by the way. This never should be another (failed) Mister Wong, Delicious, Digg…

          • Pavel Aleksandrov

I legitimately do not believe that there is more than one person (you) who used that feature. Its only feasible use, for migrating your bookmark collection to another Opera installation (taking advantage of the ‘add to my Opera’ button), is made obsolete by Opera link.

          • x a

So you don’t have friends or colleagues you plan things or share findings with over the net from time to time? My empathy.

          • Pavel Aleksandrov

LMAO I do, and going back to my original statement – it’s called COPY & PASTE. Also if I always made people get to my links through some weird expiring transitional page they would hate me.

          • Lacedaemon

Wrong, I and a friend of mine have used that also and no it’s not for exporting your bookmark collection to another installation. You shared some bookmarks of yours and then it was up to the person to copy-paste the links he was interested in keeping, -in a friendly timeline of 2 weeks time as a bonus-, not you. So it was perfect.

          • We were at least two.

          • Pavel Aleksandrov

Yeah so far you’re the third ! This is really blowing my mind over here, changing my whole perspective on the world.

          • Lacedaemon

6 in this blog. You are the minority here so stfu. If you don’t use it stay in your cave and keep not using it but don’t tell us what to do and how to do it ’cause you don’t know squat anyway……

          • Pavel Aleksandrov

I thought you’re not supposed discriminate against minorities and lock them up in caves. All I said is that I’m happy that they’re no longer going to be wasting their time and resources developing a pretty much useless feature. Sure, some people try and find a use for it, but that can be the case for anything and it shouldn’t justify its existence.

      • Lacedaemon

I know at least 2-3 people in my circle that have used that, please stop talking out of your arse…

      • SQL

I used that for example when i was ordering my PC parts and wanted to ask questions about them on some forums.

        • Pavel Aleksandrov

That sucks, though. If you had taken the few seconds to copy-paste the links people in the future would be able to benefit from the answers in the forums. Also no one would have been able to help you if two weeks passed, even if they wanted to. But since you used the share ‘feature’ the link you shared is now useless.

          • Lacedaemon

… you can extend the period of 2 weeks ffs.

          • Pavel Aleksandrov

True, you could keep your link alive if you remember to re-extend it every 13 days. Still, it doesn’t help anyone in the future, which isn’t a nice thing to in help forums.

          • Lacedaemon

oh…now it’s “true”… moments ago you used that argument about how it only lasts 2 weeks ten times already… bad trolling and flame baiting is the best you can do, I see.

          • Pavel Aleksandrov

Haha because I didn’t know that you can extend it.

          • SQL

Meh, by forums i meant a chan-type of anonymous board where the threads die fast, so it wouldn’t have been worth it at all considering the thread died within a week. And by die i mean that the thread no longer exists. Completely gone.

I just think it was a really cool feature since i had bookmarked everything that i wanna buy (for the future, when i actually buy them), and when i wanted to ask for opinions i could just share that folder, no need to open each link (18 links), when i can just generate a temporary link).

          • Pavel Aleksandrov

Ah okay yeah that’s kinda cool. I’m sure it can have its uses in some cases. A more robust bookmarks manager should be able to do something like this, I’m sure the old Opera would have been able to.

      • I used it. Oh well.

    • Leonardo Gomes

Probably not enough people using it to worth the cost.

      • x a

It’s always the same: They introduce a nifty feature on next aka developer and either promote it to early to stable, when it’s not quite ready for folks who cannot live with a bug, or – more often – don’t bother to explain it to the average Opera user, once it reaches stable.

On the news.blog they find all those marketing spin for Opera Max, which would have been a big thing 10 years ago, but now, when the internet goes TLS/SSL is dead on arrival, but don’t explain features, that differentiate Opera from your main stream browser. – It’s exasperating…

  • Vux777

pageAction icons not visible (they are there, click works)

  • fdh

    where is share button????

    • SuperTommy

DNA-40910 Phase 1 of shutting down share, remove the share button in the BM manager

      • Vux777

they probably forgot about this (I never use it, so I’m not sure)
        leftover:
        opera://flags/#share-button-visibility

        • SuperTommy

Maybe, it’s kinda a forgotten flag that never made it past developer. I guess they’ll remove it gradually, hence the phases.

  • Vux777

    o no…

    DNA-41221 Remove kFeatureExtraMouseGestures flag

now ther’s no way to disable annoying right click MG on links…

  • fdh

DNA-41206 Enable the kFeatureDisableNpapi flag on all the streams for O32
    lol

    • Leonardo Gomes

Starting on Chromium 45, in which Opera 32 is based, npapi plugins are no longer supported.

      • RX-3200

        why they do it?
nobody, except adobe-flash, make they own pp-plugins yet

      • Dave-H

Oh great, so the twenty QuickTime moves on one of my websites will become unplayable on all Chromium based browsers presumably, because Apple show no sign of producing a PPAPI QuickTime plugin.
I’d love to know what the owners of sites with thousands of QuickTime videos archived on them are expected to do!
        Wonderful! 🙁

      • fdh

        i know that

    • Leonardo Gomes

      What is the page address?

    • iamtelephone

There is nothing inherently wrong with showing the punycode format for IDN domains. What is your default language?

Here’s how Chrome handles IDN and punycode: https://www.chromium.org/developers/design-documents/idn-in-google-chrome

For more information into Opera, maybe a mod could enlighten us whether they’ve kept the Chromium defaults or added their own spin.

  • Sebastian

After update, i became an force close when i start Opera.

    • Sebastian

Okay, the extension “Last Pass” brings the force close!

  • Vux777

    no, no…Horizontally! 😛 😛

  • qwer

    Marcin Mitek

надеюсь вы не удалили экстра жесты мыши я ими часто пользуюсь

I hope you did not remove the extra mouse gestures I use them often

    • Vux777

      no, they didn’t
      …unfortunately

      • qwer

почему к сожалению, если вам не нравиться отключите его в настройках браузера

Why unfortunately, if you do not like to disable it in your browser

        • Vux777

I like mouse gestures, but those extra mouse gestures are fighting with new tab gesture
make gesture on image and it will open a link to it instead of new tab
and it’s very easy to trigger it over image
edit: actually, links embedded in images or any combination of those…. like this
          http://thenextweb.com/

  • jojoPL1987

EN: The Opera will return notes synchronized with account (such as bookmarks)?
PL: Do Opery wrócą notatki synchronizowane z kontem (tak jak zakładki)?

    • Wando Schneider
      • jojoPL1987

EN: These notes certainly are synchronized with your account Opera? Personally, however, I would prefer to edit notes on a separate page (such as opera://bookmarks/).
PL: Takie notatki na pewno są synchronizowane z kontem Opera? Osobiście jednak wolałbym edytować notatki na oddzielnej stronie (takiej jak opera://bookmarks/).

    • Leonardo Gomes

I wouldn’t bet in the returning of notes.

      • jojoPL1987

        And I like that.

    • Vux777

      Jajko,
Opera doesn’t have integrated notatki ツ
      only as extensions
and Opera doesn’t support extensions data syncing
(no support for storage.sync like in Chrome)

…maybe some extensions have their own solutions (servers for syncing, but that’s probably solutions by companies that runs business models on/with it)

  • Ralf Brinkmann

Oh, no double bookmarks and speed dials, as far as I can see. Good!

    • Tomasz Procków

Ralf, do you have bookmarks duplicates on latest Opera 31 Beta?

      • Ralf Brinkmann

I have not tried it and actually I have no Beta installed. So I have to install one tomorrow and then update that version. Then I can tell you more.

        • Tomasz Procków

Thanks, please follow up steps from that post http://blogs.opera.com/desktop/2015/07/opera-beta-update-31-0-1889-74/

          • Ralf Brinkmann

            Good morning Tomasz!

            I was not very successfull.

1.) Opera Developer is my standard browser. First I installed Opera_beta_31.0.1889.50_Setup.exe (as standalone version), to be able to update later. I clicked on “Import bookmarks and data from standard browser”, but Opera beta did not import anything.

2.) I closed Opera beta and copied the profile folder from Opera developer to this Opera beta and restarted Opera beta. I could see that all my opened tabs and extensions were there, but Opera beta did not stop loading the tabs, no matter if extensions were enabled or not. All pages were empty (white) except one.

3.) I closed Opera beta and installed Opera_beta_31.0.1889.74_Setup.exe (update). Opera did again not open any page (except one) and was again in a continuous charging loop.

4.) The good news: I could open the bookmarks manager and see that there were no double bookmarks or speed dials.

            [5.) Deleted Opera beta]

  • Kuna Prime

On ubuntu 14.04 x64 speed dial and bookmarks are invisible and unusable

  • Sunny

After this update Opera crashes as soon as it starts. Totally Unusable.
    Specs – Windows 8.1 64 bit
    Extensions – Lastpass + AdblockPlus

    • It’s LastPass. I enabled it and now I can’t start the browser anymore without it crashing instantly.

    • Zin

Read the changelog before posting man!

  • Kankee

Crash when Opera start -Windows 7 64…back to beta !!!

    • Tomasz Procków

Kankee, do you have LasPass extension installed?

      • Kankee

yes Lastpass extension was installed Thanks !!! 😉

  • This update closed my browser, made it enter a start/crash loop, and disabled all extensions. EDIT: Enablig LastPass trashes the browser forever.

    • Tomasz Procków

Yes, this is a known bug. We are working to fix that issue.

      • Thanks! I nuked the extension and will reinstall it once there is a fix (be it in the browser or the extension).

      • Greg

Don’t have last pass, still have that problem.
Over 30 tabs went to hell.

  • Veger

The bookmarks page is very broken!

    • Kuna Prime

I have exactly the same problem, also same screen is in bookmarks window
-plug-ins: chrome pdf and flash player (nothing else installed)

      • Radek Rzepecki

        which OS are you on?

        • Kuna Prime

ubuntu 14.04 x64, but i have now noticed that after restart of my computer this problem is gone! In any case this is strange behavior, and was never the case in previous releases.

          • Veger

Restarting seemed to work for me as well, as my problem is gone also…

        • Kuna Prime

it seemed as problem was gone, but after some time using opera problem was back! After system restart this goes away but during usage it comes back and i have not been able to pinpoint exact use case when this happens, because it happens sporadically

    • If you disable GPU acceleration in preferences -> advanced preferences?

      • Veger

When I came home, I started my computer and the bookmarks are fixed… ?!

(Restarting Opera did not help yesterday)

Maybe someone else is able to reproduce and provide the details…?

    • kraju

I have same issue with latest developer (1933), it was “2d canvas acceleration” flag that causes this (got this on two distinct machines Debian testing and Kubuntu 14.04, both with Intel GPU and with KDE) – disable this and bookmarks are useful again, but obviously without acceleration.

    • It’s probably something with the browser/gpu/texture handling rather than the bookmarks page 😉

Could you tell me what gfx card you have and what gfx driver you use?

      • Veger

        AMD Radeon HD 5870
I use the open-source driver installed from xserver-xorg-video-radeon
        My kernel version is 4.0.4

  • Fresh install of Opera stable: http://i.imgur.com/hO3s13K.png

Why is discover bar on top of the speeddial and how do I get rid of it. This isn’t normal, is it? I have never seen this happen on any fresh install before… I’m guessing this has something to do with the phone sync? Also, my phone is randomly duplicating some bookmarks. You guys have made a mess…

  • Xo

Can you please rebase on Chromium >45.0.2454.7 so that this Flash vulnerability version enforcement is included?

    https://chromium.googlesource.com/chromium/src/+/a2c314e88d8fef90e1fa2706d3d43fc362601a64

    • ayespy

Each stream is married to its Chromium whole-number version, and will only be released on that version. That means that when the current Developer version is released, Opera will be on Chromium 45, whatever is the latest or next-latest at that time.

      • Xo

Not sure what you mean; this build is based on 45.0.2450.0 and I was asking about including a bugfix from later on in the 45 tree.

        • Marcin Mitek

Once we get the next Chromium intake. It will be included in the first build that we release after the intake.

I already explained that some time ago, but updating Chromium takes some time, we are doing it for several other projects in Opera, not just desktop browsers.

We really try very hard not be very far behind the current version. We have to test it, and most of the times – there is a number of regressions that needs to be fixed before it lands on the given branch.

        • ayespy

I mean you are asking for something that is almost certain to happen in the natural course of events if you never said anything at all. But as Marcin explains, adopting the newest Chrome version is not simple like putting on new shoes.

    • Leonardo Gomes

Isn’t enough to have the latest version of flash installed?

      • Xo

It is enough. This just enforces that in Chromium. Never hurts to have more security, right?

        • Leonardo Gomes

But what exactly it enforces? What would be the difference for the user?

  • Thomas Sawyer

Weird bug here. The ‘Reopen last closed tab’ shortcut doesn’t work when I set ‘On startup’ as ‘Open the start page’. Could someone confirm this?

    • Radek Rzepecki

Confirmed. Thanks for spotting this! DNA-41646. We will fix it soon.

    • L33t4opera

Hi, confirmed, it works only when you select the “Continue where I left off” option (works without problems in the previous version 32.0.1926.0).

      • inDigazzZ

        Oh, thanks!

  • Hylian Ticipated

The last build forced this sync button in front of my face, now this build adds the tab menu on top of it as well? Again no tab stacking, tab order, bookmarks open in same tab, pop-up windows open in tabs, non-obtrusive sidebar, etc. The first two years were sorting out start page ideas flopping back & forth between imperfect ideas.

    Bravo Opera team. Bravo.

    • Leonardo Gomes

Both sync buttonm and tab menu have been there for a while, they were not introduced in the latest builds.

      • Hylian Ticipated

Not being allowed to disable them is new for me.

        • Arjan van Leeuwen

Experiments (the flags you can set in opera://flags) are for features that are in development. Once they’re out of development, the features get enabled by default. And once they’ve proven themselves in a development release, they get released as enabled by default in a stable release (ie. they were in Opera 30 in this case). And then they get enabled permanently. Or, in case they never satisfied in developer, they get removed permanently.

All experiments follow this entirely predictable course. The goal of every experiment is to, at some point, not be an experiment anymore.

          • L33t4opera

Hi Arjan, you know, it works as follows: the users would like to have a choice – in case, if you remove the flag for the function, then instead of it, it would be nice, if you can add an option (available somewhere within the UI), which allows you to disable, or enable this feature.

I’m aware, that for some reasons, this might not be possible for all functions, nevertheless it would be really nice to have such options, at least for some of them 😉

          • Nekomajin43

            HUGE +1

Anyway, we can remove browserAction buttons. We can rearrange sidebar buttons. Why can’t we rearrange the toolbar buttons and remove default buttons too?
For example, I don’t need the start page icon on the left. Why can’t I remove it?

Just take a look at how Mozilla did it with Firefox and learn!

          • Arjan van Leeuwen

I, too, like options. But every option means you add a lot to the set of states Opera has to work in and has to be tested in. If you have 3 two-choice settings, Opera can be in 2*2*2=8 states / combinations of options. Add one more option and suddenly there are 16 states. So it’s quite a careful balance: when you add a public option, you have to be very sure that it’s worthwhile to maintain the overhead of having it.

And ‘no one uses the option so I’m fine with it not working perfectly’ is an argument that only works here on the blog. Most people who encounter an option that doesn’t work the way it should, however obscure the combination of options they’re using, would agree that that reflects badly on their overall impression of the quality of the product.

          • Vux777

But every option means you add a lot to the set of states Opera has to work in and has to be tested in.

I understand that very well…. every test is extra burden, especially on start

But some of the flags you are removed, or soon to be removed, are not working properly

-Turbo 2 is way more buggy than v1. For instance, I can’t post comment here with turbo 2 (page gets stuck)..and many other sites have problems with it. Flag is not removed yet, but it’s coming now as default (turbo 2 vs turbo)

-extra mouse gestures for links (flag removed in latest dev)
many areas on modern web pages act like a links (images, graphics etc… example), and to perform new tab gesture one needs to search for “empty” area…which downgrades the point of mouse gesture (simple and fast action)

either make it straight up (free gesture) or opt out

          • Hylian Ticipated

Those features are quite minor and have been in development for a long time now that I’m surprise that they are not finalized and act as an integral part of Opera in all of the most recent builds. How long are you going to experiment with those “features” when they’ve always worked? I just don’t understand is all. It’s a Developer build, why not let me toy with what’s always been given and report if anything is broken, or keep what is there as is. So many important flags get removed. I can’t remember which build version it was, but I remember having to go outside of Opera and edit the shortcut just for it to act as a disabled #warn-about-insecure-content.

          • Arjan van Leeuwen

            > I’m surprise that they are not finalized and act as an integral part of Opera in all of the most recent builds

They do, that’s why the flags have now become unnecessary: we won’t cancel these features later because they didn’t work. They already work.

            > It’s a Developer build, why not let me toy with what’s always been given and report if anything is broken, or keep what is there as is.

The flags are not meant as user settings – they are there to make it possible for us and you to test features while they are still in development (so not yet ready for a stable release).

          • Hylian Ticipated

They do, that’s why the flags have now become unnecessary: we won’t cancel these features later because they didn’t work. They already work.

Then please show me how I can disable the Tab Menu and Sync Button from this build. Well?

The flags are not meant as user settings – they are there to make it possible for us and you to test features while they are still in development (so not yet ready for a stable release).

You just said they were finalized (“and have been for a while”) which is why the flags were removed. Since they are not there now, are you saying Opera is now forcing me to have the Tab Menu and the Sync Button? It would seem that way. What happened to Opera being a browser I can customize and make it easier for me than any other browser? It seems to be giving me more trouble than I want, but I’m still being hopeful.

          • Hylian Ticipated

            *waits*

          • Arjan van Leeuwen

            > Then please show me how I can disable the Tab Menu and Sync Button from this build. Well?

You cannot: the tab menu and the sync button are fully functional and working, and have been part of a stable release. There’s no reason to suspect we’ll remove them later, so we won’t maintain them anymore as an experiment (and the different code paths that come with it). They’re part of the Opera UI.

            > Since they are not there now, are you saying Opera is now forcing me to have the Tab Menu and the Sync Button?

Opera has these features in its UI. Many people like it (and some have been asking for these features), some people won’t. Opera isn’t forcing you to use its browser.

            > What happened to Opera being a browser I can customize and make it easier for me than any other browser?

We want to create a high-quality browser with a UI that most people love, and that feels natural to many. Of course we can’t make everybody like it, and that’s OK. See my post below on why we don’t simply add options for every feature.

          • Hylian Ticipated

So there you have it. Opera is taking away customization for users. Putting intrusive UI elements in my face and not having “recently closed tabs” in the menu. It’s like the Opera team doesn’t know what they’re doing anymore. Appreciate your response. Time to downgrade just to upgrade to a downgraded Opera. How ironic.

          • Hylian Ticipated

            Don’t worry, I’ll wait.

          • Mike

The best thing about Opera 12.x and before was that anything you added came as an option. What’s the point in having development branches giving the users the option? If it’s for stability, any time there are crashes the response is “deal with it, you shouldn’t be using it in a proper environment anyway”.

Is it me, or is the default WordPress Admin theme messed up in this build. Layout of adminmenu

Opening some links (not all, just some) to background tab breaks extensions on the page they were opened from (for example Stylish and µblock just quit and all of a sudden shows every ad and hidden element on the page).

Flash still doesn’t free up any memory, it just creeps up to 4GB and crashes all tabs that use flash (leave Facebook open for a few hours and everything just crashes).

Opening a link or a tab or an internal page (like settings) still randomly causes the newly opened tab to never load, it just gets stuck showing “loading” and no loading is happening, ever.

Pressing buttons in an input or textfield still counts as keyboard shortcuts that are left in the limbo, and will be used next time keyboard shortcuts are used, ie. using something like Ctrl+F later on uses “change tab” or “zoom to 1000%” or whatnot later on, annoying as hell.

“Opening some links (not all, just some) to background tab breaks extensions on the page they were opened from (for example Stylish and µblock just quit and all of a sudden shows every ad and hidden element on the page).”

Not only to background tabs. Open directly a link in SmartRss for example (Stylish, HackerVision, Evernote Cleary doesn’t work). With the previous version too.

Two bugs on youtube on OS X. When putting the mouse over the bottom controls in fullscreen HTML 5 player, they hide.

Also when having several youtube tabs open and only in one a video is playing, the sound indicator occasionally shows on the wrong tab (in which no video is playing).

    • Arjan van Leeuwen

The sound indicator bug is DNA-41685, thanks for reporting. We’re looking into the Youtube player issue.

  • Has this update also disabled the address bar icon feature? I can’t see icons for extensions like V7 Drag anymore.

    • Marc

I get the same on some tabs when I hover over them to see the preview. http://i.imgur.com/8ZVNlit.png
On some tabs I don’t get a preview at all.

    • Nerdebeu

      Somestimes, I have this too.

    • fdh

      i have the same problem

    • Ralf Brinkmann

Today I had the same problem with a long text on http://www.spektrum.de/wissen/schaden-katzen-unserer-vogelwelt/1356773. After scrolling a little up and down suddenly the rest of the text was visible.

    • Leonardo Gomes

I’ve seen it happens here, usually when scrolling long pages.

    • That’s a chromium thing and has been present in Opera since version 15. Usually only happens on very long pages when scrolling fast.

    • David_Gould

Annoying bug, no fix for this yet?

  • weqe

Where’s recently closed pages? I don’t see their anywhere.

    • Ralf Brinkmann

I see them in the TAB menu (the 2 horizontal lines with the arrow downwards in the upper right corner of the browser).

      • weqe

In this place i see currently open tabs only, not displayed any recently closed tabs

        • Nerdebeu

          Same here.

    • Wando Schneider

      Known issue. They’re working on.

  • Nagora

Linux (Ubuntu 14.04 64bit Intel) version loads and displays previous session pages; won’t load any other pages in new tabs. Hangs with “waiting for…” popups which accumulate in a strange way and then fade to nothing, leaving a blank page. If I move the mouse over the page I can see the link notification popup as pass over them and can even click on them and the URL changes but the page remains blank and the process can be repeated ad infinitum.

The already existing pages (from the previous session) not only load and display correctly but also allow me to click on links and get further working pages as if nothing was wrong even on complicated pages/sites like Pivotal Tracker. Even following a link to a different site make no difference-everything still works, even bloody Flash!

Finally, opening a new window, rather than a tab, works fine too.

  • Izer0

Still no way how to disable tab menu or disable it on ctrl+tab, so stay on O29. Opera guys seems like MS – removing all customization.

    • Radek Rzepecki

well, there is another shortcut for switching though tabs the old way and we do have customised shortcuts so you can change it if you wish.

      • Izer0

Yep – old way – I am using classic tabs for years until you made proper tab activation order and you forward me to use old way tabs. MS style.

    • Ralf Brinkmann

No problem here, the video loads and plays. W7x64.
Have you tried it with a new profile?

      • beBoss

Nope I didn’t. Do I have to preinstall opera and to lose all my settings bookmars etc? Vide videos don’t work too https://vine.co/v/egrDbOqel1l. Well I will try later with clean install.

        • Ralf Brinkmann

No. Just close Opera, find the profile folder and rename it (just for testing). Then restart Opera. It will create a new, clean, virgin profile with the original default settings. Now you can find out, if you still have the same problem(s). After that you can again close Opera, rename the profile folder back and restart Opera. If there were no problems with the clean profile, than you know, there is a problem with either one of your extensions, ad blocker lists or with changings in your settings or flags. You can try to enable /disable one by one to find the mistake or you can restart with a new profile and save some settings files (Bookmarks, favorites.db, favorites.db-journal, Login Data, Login Data-journal, Web Data, Web Data-journal, History, History-journal and History Provider Cache) from the non-working profile folder. Look at http://help.opera.com/opera/Windows/1857/en/solutions.html#backup in the Opera help.

        • Leonardo Gomes

This one is not playing here but others play fine.

    • Leonardo Gomes

Does the videos play if opened in a private window?

  • Druszlak

Any news regarding smooth scrolling? Adding “–enable-smooth-scrolling” doesn’t seem to work anymore.

    • Vux777

      nope
in the meantime, you can use this one, SmoothScroll

      • Druszlak

This one works quite well too:
        https://addons.opera.com/pl/extensions/details/scroller/?display=en

And it’s native for Opera. But it’s still shame that IE has smooth scrolling while other (better?) browsers not.

        • Vux777

But it’s still shame that IE has smooth scrolling while other (better?) browsers not

          I agree.

I wasn’t aware of that extension, looks like the same ppl are involved (same extension ported to Opera, only without any settings)

And why do you post this here? Here is the source. So why should anybody download Opera from an unsecure third party? The allegations on that page are incorrect. Opera is not open source.

  • Kamen Minkov

“Reoplen last closed tab” doesn’t work for me, it’s always greyed out. Am I alone in this?

        • Hylian Ticipated

          Oh, my mistake.

  • Ralf Brinkmann

I have just found an old problem in this version: I have installed Java 32- and 64-bit, but Opera does not recognize one of them (like Chrome). So I can’t open the SWR3 Webcam on http://www.swr3.de/studiocam-beta/. What can I do?

    • Ralf Brinkmann

Ok, I found a solution myself:
I had to set opera://flags/#disable-npapi to disabled. Then it works again.

      • Leonardo Gomes

Just note that support for npapi plugins should end soon.

        • Ralf Brinkmann

Yes, but what can I do?

          • Leonardo Gomes

Nothing, maybe ask Oracle about a ppapi version of Java.

  • Ralf Brinkmann

I can confirm, what somebody else said: Opera looks uglier under Windows 10. This is perhaps because there is no longer the clear appearance.

  • Ghirahim

I want a standard red Opera icon. Is it possible to change it? How?

    • Sumit Malwadkar

Right click on oepra icon, then click on change icon and select original opera icon from program files.

      • Ghirahim

I can only change it if I make a shortcut. And I can’t find other icons. Where exactly?

        • Sumit Malwadkar

When you install opera, it will automatically create shortcut on desktop and in start menu, your change there icon.
First install opera normal (ie non beta or developer edition), and then install developer now you can see red opera icon in program files.

  • Vux777

-crash when loading page and if there is no Internet connection
-I’m not able to insert text pragmatically in Disqus comment box (only in Dev, and only in Disuqs, works fine in beta and stable…or any other textarea, input….)

    • Ralf Brinkmann

Are you sure, that you have not blocked cookies for disqus in the dev version?

      • Vux777

        no, it’s not that
I can’t insert note in Disqus comment… in Dev only

        • Ralf Brinkmann

Ah, now I see. In the e-mail there was a link and here I can’t see it.
(But when I open the link I receive a 404)

          • Vux777

            meh…
that’s because I edited comment couple of times…Disqus really complicated stuff with rich text editing

            edit. link should work now

          • Ralf Brinkmann

Yes, now I can see it and it works. Interesting thing. I have never known what these notes should be good for.

          • Vux777

well, you missed a lot… that was one of the super cool Presto features
btw, when you say it works, does it work in Developer version with Disqus or…works in other builds?

          • Ralf Brinkmann

I only meant that the link works and that I can see and open it in your comment http://blogs.opera.com/desktop/2015/07/opera-developer-32-0-1933-0-update/#comment-2167709625, but I have not tried it out. I don’t want any sidebars here.

  • Michael M.

would you fix those win95 style scrollbars on windows 10 please?

    • Ralf Brinkmann

Isn’t that part of Windows 10? Under Windows 7 the same developer version was more easy on the eyes. I’m also trying to get the aero glass effect back with Classic Shell, but that doesn’t take effect in Opera and other programms.

      • Michael M.

Nope, its not. All the others browsers have normal scrollbars

        • Ralf Brinkmann

The only difference I can see is, that in the other browsers (Chrome, FF) the scrollbar is bright and the slider is dark. Here it’s the contrary. This is, because it’s Opera and not the other browsers. 🙂 I can’t test Vivaldi. It’s a little bitchy and doesn’t want to start in W10.

          • Michael M.

OK, Opera’s scrollbar is trully win95 style. Vivaldy’s and others are win10 flat style. Vivaldi is running OK on my win10 right now. I don’t know how to attach an image here.

          • Ralf Brinkmann

You can upload it to one of those image upload services and publish the link here. http://oi60.tinypic.com/5otjf8.jpg

          • Michael M.

yep, and this is a wrong win95 scroll on your screenshot. Here is opera and vivaldy scrollbar on my pic http://i61.tinypic.com/262mg3p.png

  • AriZone

It would be great to implement ‘click to play’ blocking also html5 .mp4 videos. Please, please … 🙂

    • L33t4opera

Hi, for the Youtube videos, you can install the “Magic Actions for YouTube” extension, and after you install it, go to the options, and tick the checkbox on the left of the “Stop Autoplay”. Alternatively, you can install the “YouTube Auto Pause/Stop” extension 😉

      • AriZone

Thanks for reply. This stops autoplay in youtube indeed. But I’m looking for more universal solution, not only for youtube.

        • Laszlo Kertesz

This should be extended to any javascript/html5 based animations that seem to crop up recently in the ad boxes.

        • L33t4opera

You can install one of the extensions, that allow you to install extensions from the Chrome Web Store: the “Extension source viewer“, or the “Download Chrome Extension“, and after that, install the “Disable HTML5 Autoplay” extension 😉

Small notice: please be aware of this issue.

          • AriZone

Made my day. Works on almost all sites. Kudos!

      • Leonardo Gomes

Magic Actions is working for you? Here it stopped working on latest developer build.

        • L33t4opera

Hi Leonardo, yes, it works here without issues, maybe try to disable it, and re-enable, and if this doesn’t help, then uninstall it, and install again.

          • Leonardo Gomes

Already tried all of that with no sucess. I will have to try to check better on it.

          • Vux777

I can’t see controls on new HTML5 player with Magic Actions…

          • L33t4opera

Hi Vux777, it shows up here, without a problem.
Perhaps something is blocking it, in your case?

          • Vux777

            strange
probably one of the settings (in extension) is making problems on my side…
            ______________________________
….it’s enabling “stop auto-play” that is causing it…

          • L33t4opera

Yes, I can confirm it, but I just checked, and this problem seems to be fixed in the latest version 6.8.8.9, and since it’s not updated yet on the extensions page for Opera, so if you would like, then you can install it from the CWS website 😉

          • Vux777

            tnx

  • Laszlo Kertesz

Cannot remove media permission exceptions from the UI. Debian Testing 64-bit.

If i create an absolute exception (allowed/denied) for a site for camera/audio permission, it cannot be removed after that from the settings menu.

I could, however, edit the ~/.config/opera-developer/Preferences file and remove them from there manually but its not a nice solution and error prone since you dont even have line breaks in there.

  • donny

Hi, I don’t know if this is a bug, but it’s very annoying.

    Opera: developer 32.0.1933.0
OS: Linux 64bit (Gnome, Arch Linux)
    Page: browser://bookmarks

    How to reproduce:
    ————————-
    1) copy any URL to the clipboard
    2) click with middle mouse button to any bookmark thumbnail

    What’s expected:
    ———————–
the bookmarked page is opened in new tab in background

    What exactly happens:
    ——————————
the bookmarked page is opened in new tab in background AND new bookmark of URL from clipboard is created in the folder.

    • Vux777

      I can’t recreate this

      • donny

Yes, because I think this is Linux-related (resp. middle-click mapping to Paste function).

      • donny

I thought I replied to this before: it looks like Linux-only issue (it makes the Paste-from-clipboard when middle mouse button is clicked)

  • Kam Stirner

    Thanks for the update. However:

“DNA-41444 [Linux] Change libnotify notifications timeout”

It’s a pretty big mistake IMHO. It goes against pretty much all Linux philosophy. You shouldn’t specify a timeout (especially that long – it’s insane!), you should let Opera notifications use the system default value instead!

Trust the user, do not force him to have things he may not want – it’s pretty much Linux motto.

(That being said, libnotify support is one of the things I had been waiting for the most, so great job.)

Opera crashed with “LastPass” add ons

  • Installed 32 bit Opera Developer on Debian Jessie. Everything’s fine, except one annoying thing: Opera reports to support prorpietary media formats (H.264 video, AAC and MP3 audio) but can’t play them. That’s fine, I thought, I’ll just install ffmpeg-2.6.4 from deb-multimedia repo. But no, for some reason Opera refuses to pick up ffmpeg libraries and continues to use its internal libffmpeg.so.32.

OK, maybe it needs some special version. So I compiled versions 2.7.2, 2.6.4, 2.5.8 and 2.4.10 (using Ruario’s script), but none were picked up, which is strange, because all of them (except, maybe, 2.7.2, I didn’t test this version) are picked up just fine on Slackware64 14.1.

Does it have anything to do with the system’s architecture? Or am I doing something wrong?

    • L33t4opera

Hi, “Due to changes in Chrome, Opera is no longer able to use the system’s ffmpeg library to playback H264 videos on Linux” – the source link.

However, instead of the old solution, you can try the following steps:
Open a terminal window, and execute the following commands as root (or use a user account with administrator privileges): open the “sources.list” file in your text editor (e.g. nano /etc/apt/sources.list), scroll down to the bottom of the file, and add:deb http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu vivid-security main universesave the changes, and close the file.apt-key adv --keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com --recv-keys 40976EAF437D05B5 3B4FE6ACC0B21F32 && apt-get update
      apt-get install chromium-codecs-ffmpeg-extra
      cd /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/opera-developer && mkdir lib_extra && cd lib_extra && ln -s /usr/lib/chromium-browser/libffmpegsumo.so libffmpeg.so.32

      • it is bad idea. better ask #opera to build better binary. take a look https://twitter.com/vitaliykulikov/status/646672985470947328/photo/1

        • L33t4opera

Hi Vitaliy, the above solution is for Opera developer 32-bit on Debian. For Opera stable 32 x86_64 on Ubuntu, the proper, and sufficient steps are as follows:apt-get install chromium-codecs-ffmpeg-extra
          cd /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/opera && mkdir lib_extra && cd lib_extra
          ln -s /usr/lib/chromium-browser/libs/libffmpeg.so libffmpeg.so.32

          • sure. thanks) same workaround have done, already )

Whenever I crtl-tab, Opera instantly locks up and/or stops rendering page content. I can continue ctrl-tabbing and the titlebar updates, but the view of the tab never changes. I’m also seeing a lot of tearing. I’ve tried with hardware acceleration on and off. I’m on Ubuntu 15.04.

Sometimes when I use on any page mouse gesture DOWN (open new tab), it openes one of my speed dials directly instead of the speed dial page. But I don’t know any way how to reproduce it, only that it’s usually 12th, 13th or 15th speed dial and it doesn’t matter where on the page I do the mouse gesture. How that happened today: I used the gesture, page was opened. I pressed ctrl+w to close the page and tried it again (from the same page), and the same bookmark (speed dial) was opened again.

any idea what’s new tabs model?

        • Ralf Brinkmann

Hm, I thought it has something to do with the right click menu of the tab or the pin mode, but I don’t see a difference. In W10x64 Pro. Maybe in W7 or Mac.

I have again a problem: When I click a link in another programm, Opera (33) opens, but with an empty speed dial page, not with the clicked one. Is that again only my personal problem or does anyone else have this behaviour?

Hi, My name clement and i just want to share my experience with
everyone. I have being hearing about this blank ATM card for a while and
i never really paid any interest to it because of my doubts. Until one
day i discovered a hacking guy called walker. he is really good at what
he is doing. Back to the point, I inquired about The Blank ATM Card. If
it works or even Exist. They told me Yes and that its a card programmed
for random money withdraws without being noticed and can also be used
for free online purchases of any kind. This was shocking and i still had
my doubts. Then i gave it a try and asked for the card and agreed to
their terms and conditions. Hoping and praying it was not a scam. One
week later i received my card and tried with the closest ATM machine
close to me, It worked like magic. I was able to withdraw up to $30,000.
This was unbelievable and the happiest day of my life. So far i have
being able to withdraw up to $89,000 without any stress of being caught.
I don’t know why i am posting this here, i just felt this might help
those of us in need of financial stability. blank Atm has really change
my life. If you want to contact them, Here is the email address
walker.blankatmhacker@gmail.com . And I believe they will also Change
    your Life.
