Opera 136.0.6008.80 Stable update

We’ve rolled out a new Opera Stable release with a Chromium bump (updated to 152.0.7977.134) and a batch of fixes focused on tab dragging, pinned tabs, and general stability.

Most of the work in this release went into the vertical tabs experience, particularly around pinned tabs. You can now unpin tabs by dragging them out of the pinned section, and drag unpinned tabs into it. The drag pointer preview has been improved so it’s clearer where a tab will land when moving between sections, and the pinned tab preview layout while dragging has been polished. We also fixed a case where dragging a pinned tab into the regular tabs section only let you drop it into a tab island, and a crash that could happen when dragging an unpinned tab from the pinned section back to the unpinned part. On top of that, clicking on tabs after switching the layout from vertical to horizontal now works correctly.

On the smaller fixes side, the VPN badge is once again displayed in the address bar and onboarding on Mac no longer feels slow and unresponsive after the intro.

For Early Bird users on vertical tabs, we also fixed the missing tabs context menu when clicking below the tabs on Windows, and a case where the tab favicon showed both the red dot and the sound/mute indicator in collapsed state during a meeting.

We also enabled #emergency-session-restore in Early Bird. This makes session recovery more resilient: if the normal session restore is interrupted or fails, Opera now falls back through several safer recovery paths instead of starting with an empty session, so you’re much less likely to lose your tabs after a crash.
