Still no removal/fix of: PATCH-1164, YouTube force Flash player for HTML5 content. :(

    • Leonardo Gomes

I think they will remove it when they fix the bugs with html5 videos resolution.

      • http://twitter.com/rluik Rafael Luik

        they = YouTube

        We are doomed…

  • myoperaexile

The comments feed http://blogs.opera.com/desktop/comments/feed/ for this blog is stale, so I’m not seeing any new comments for the past few days.

  • http://about.me/muhasturk Mustafa Hastürk

You will be angry but we all need that chromium update.

  • ydcover

Blocked by Windows Firewall – again, and again… with every version again. What is so difficult to use a folder without changing the name for every version.

    Fail!

    • blackcoder

That would mean same path, but different executable, which could still pass the firewall? This sounds not secure.

      • ydcover

The executables are installed in a subfolder which is named by the version number. This one changes with every update, so you have to adjust the rules for outbound connections every time for the program, auto update and maybe the crash report. Who want to do this twenty times?
To allow all outbound connections by default is not secure.

        • nanana2

This happen with me too(only with Opera), every update the path of executable opera.exe is changed(because the opera’s folder is changed too), so my personal firewall(not Windows firewall) block Opera and I have to unlock it manually. It’s very uncomfortable, mainly for Opera’s ordinary users and newbies that has not a more accurate knowledge about computers/software.

          • Fajar Vashra

Opera theme is looking bad…can somebody do about it

        • blackcoder

Yes, I know. I wanted to point out something different. Nevertheless I can not confirm your problem. No need to allow it again after auto-update.

          Windows 8.1

    • http://twitter.com/rluik Rafael Luik

Not here, Opera is not blocked by Windows Firewall.

      • Shawny_Shawn

That’s irrelevant. It is a problem for ydcover, and it needs to be fixed. Not by ydcover, of course, because the firewall policy he’s using is very sensible. It’s something that Opera needs to do better.

        • http://twitter.com/rluik Rafael Luik

Then he should have specified it in the initial comment!

          • Eroticus

He’s should get some normal firewall or antivirus.

    • Leonardo Gomes

Do you use any specific setting on Windows Firewall? Here it (almost) never blocked any program that i had installed.

      • ydcover

By default the Windows Firewall is a One-Way Firewall which blocks only inbound connections – this is a security risk. Through the Advanced Security Settings we activated the option to block also the outbound connections – that’s all, no magic and no extras. Then you have to give permission for every single program which should have access to the network by selecting the application with the full path. It works great for all applications – so far.
But the Opera Browser changes the installation path with every update because they put the version number in the subfolder. For the firewall the application is in a different folder which is not allowed to access to the network.

        • Leonardo Gomes

Hmm, what if you allow launcher.exe?

          • gdv

            Good question/idea, Leonardo!

Will be waiting to see ydcover reply. :)

          • ydcover

Good point… is checked but has no effect. To allow only launcher.exe does not work. The executables in the subfolder still need permission through the firewall.

        • Dmitry Kirin

Hm… An application should be considered different when the contents of its executable has changed, not just the folder.
When my ESET Smart Security is running in the interactive mode, it asks twice after each update: to enable/disable network activity for the new opera.exe and the same question about the new opera_autoupdate.exe. It doesn’t ask anything about launcher.exe because it does not try accessing the network.

    • http://www.facebook.com/hector.maciasayala Hector Macias Ayala

I get a warning from Avast every time, just add an exception there and it is done, good from Avast they provide that option in the same dialog, otherwise…

Never from WinFW, maybe because I got Comodo instead, but Comodo is smart enough to know it is the same thing, once you mark it as setup/upgrade.

Isn’t that the point of throwing it out to us?

        • Marcin Mitek

We have some quality requirements for the Dev also. Issue is known, developers and QAs are working on it, no point in giving you the broken build. You will have a chance to find other issues, for sure, but this one is too obvious and annoying.

  • Osamu Maki

How can I turn off the behavior that appends sequence number to filename of download automatically?

    • Leonardo Gomes

Afaik, you can’t. And it only happens if there is already another file with the same name.

  • nimuchan

    Thanks for update!

  • SteveX

HI, I was trying this new Opera, one thing that I have noticed is that in the download dialog window there’s no indication about the size of file before downloading it. It’s quite uncomfortable. It would be possible to correct this?

    • Guest

That is not the case from my experience. As I’m downloading a file I see the full size displayed in the little window

    • Dmitry Kirin

Does it happen always or only at times?
In general, it happens when the web server does not know the content length prior to sending the response.

      • SteveX

There is no indication about file size in the dialog window when I have to chose where save the file (which folder). In every other browser that indication exists, it’s useful to know how big is a file before downloading it. Obviously after you have chosen to save it in a folder that indication appears in download window (with speed, etc.). In options I have chosen to ask where to save files to every transfer.

      • Vux777

For me, maybe once or twice that I saw size of download file in Opera,
while other browsers rarely miss that
This is Opera vs. Maxthon download info

        - first SS is from Opera latest stable download popup. No info on size…
        - second SS is Maxthon Save prompt dialog. Full info, from where, where to, size….Opera use standard Windows Save dialog
        - third is Maxthon Download manager

ps. Ironically, Opera downloading Opera from Opera server much slower than Maxthon ツ

….and without basic info on file size
        pps. Maxthon is on webKit

        • SteveX

Exactly, Opera uses a standard Windows dialog at the moment to save something, no info of any kind. Maxthon (for example) has a richer prompt dialog.

    • https://www.aeyoun.com/ Daniel Aleksandersen

If the server does not say how big the file is, we would not know how big it is before it is downloaded. Technical limitation when the server does not send a Content-Length header.

      • Vux777

Opera in 99% of downloads does’t read size of the file, while with other browsers is almost other way around. It’s something on Opera side.

        • Guest

This is not at all my experience, for the vast majority of downloads Opera tells me the full size whilst downloading.

      • SteveX

Watch the image below, I mean this: in Opera appears directly the save dialog, no informations about the file. In other browsers there is the information about file size before to download it. I think it’s a crucial thing in a browser.

  • icetom

the blog here shows me “No Comments” for this and 18 comments for the last blogpost. Thats not really true. On which side is the problem? Opera blog or disqus? Using this latest 19 stable.

    • Guest

are you using some of the script blocking extensions?

      • Carson Coyote

I’m having the same problem, and it’s happening on every browser, even when all extensions are disabled.

        • SkyWarriorBR

Same here… ODT, rhymes broke Disqus, it’s better bring back the weather reports :P

      • icetom

adblock, if i disable it, same problem
tested it with IE11, same problem like carson coyote said.

        • gdv

Same for me [showing zero (of 53) and 18 (of 139) comments] 11 hours later, both with Opera12.16 and with Otter browser alpha2 ( http://www.otter-browser.org/ ), on both the blog homepage and at the top of each blog post.

Don’t know if on Opera’s or Disqus’ side here (probably Opera’s I would think), but I often notice a slight discrepancy between the two that I’ve always assumed was simply some kind of update lag on the Opera Desktop Blog side. If so, this seems more like the updating is now broken. ;)

    • https://www.aeyoun.com/ Daniel Aleksandersen

We had problems with the comment system around the time we published this blog post. It should be resolved now. However, the counter is out of sync and will take some time to catch up.

      • Nekomajin42

Will you consider dropping disqus? I don’t have problem with 3rd-party comment systems in general, but this crap wants to be too smart. It is really annoying. And slow.

        • guest6768

Agree. Drop Disgust. Whoever thought of this crap should be punished.

        • https://www.aeyoun.com/ Daniel Aleksandersen

It has done wonders for us since moving off the old commenting system on My Opera. We are not ditching Disqus in the near future. (We have only really had this one issue with it.)

          • Nekomajin42

It may work as intended, but how it is intended to work is wrong. It does not remember the last set order, always shows “the best” comments first. It does not show the whole thread if I open a direct link to a certain comment. It loads very slowly. I can’t resize the text field. It may developed to be user friendly, but it wants to be too friendly.
So please consider a switch, to a better 3rd-party system, or your own.

          • Leonardo Gomes

It does not remember the last set order, always shows “the best” comments first

Hmm, not happening here. If i’m logged in, then Disqus will use the last chosen order.

          • Nekomajin42

I am logged in, and don’t use any content blocking addon.

          • Leonardo Gomes

You keep it logged in? Or do you login each time you come on this blog?
And what about cookies/local storage? Do you keep them or you “clean” them often?

          • Nekomajin42

I am logged in constantly, and I don’t clean the saved data on my PC. However, I checked, and I don’t allow 3rd-party cookies. That might be the problem. So OK, one point for disqus, but the others are still valid.

          • guest6768

It has done wonders for us, we are not ditching it

Yeah and it has done the opposite to us. Seriously if you don’t want our comments or if it is only about you, you can tell us, instead of providing this completely crappy platform as a mean for it.

      • http://twitter.com/rluik Rafael Luik

This blog post is marked as “Private: Opera 19.0.1326.63 update” in DISQUS dashboard…

This should not be a problem again in the future.

          • http://twitter.com/rluik Rafael Luik

I just mentioned it thinking maybe that’s the reason it’s displaying as “No Comments” here.

          • Chas4

It is showing the comment count now

          • http://twitter.com/rluik Rafael Luik

And it’s not showing up as “Private” anymore. ;)

  • Sidney Moraes

Opera is working perfectly, thank you!

    • Shawny_Shawn

It’s not working perfectly. This release does not run on Linux, while Opera 12 did. This release does not have real bookmarks, while Opera 12 did. It suffers from some very serious regressions. That means that it is not “working perfectly”.

      • Leonardo Gomes

As you seem like to say “It not being working perfectly for you doesn’t mean that it’s not working perfectly for Sidney or for others.”

        • Shawny_Shawn

If it isn’t working for even just one person, then it’s not exhibiting “perfection”.

“Perfection” doesn’t mean “it’s kinda sorta maybe working for a few people”. “Perfection” means that it’s working without any flaws for everybody and anybody.

What you’re talking about is not perfection in any way whatsoever.

          • Leonardo Gomes

            Perfection is subjective.

          • Shawny_Shawn

Regardless of whether it’s subjective or objective, the fact that Opera 12 ran on Linux but Opera 15 to 20 (and probably later versions, too) don’t means that Opera will inherently be imperfect until at least this serious problem is fixed. Then there’s the whole bookmark issue, of course, along with many other missing Opera 12 features. So there’s a very, very long way to go for these new release of Opera to even get to where they can be called “working”, never mind “perfect”.

      • Sidney Moraes

They didn’t released a version for Linux, that does not mean it is not working. I do not use bookmarks because I use stash. So it is working for me.

        • Shawny_Shawn

The availability of a release is totally irrelevant.

I can’t currently run the new versions of Opera on my Linux systems, while I could run previous versions of Opera just fine. Thus Opera is now broken. That is, it is not working at all, and it surely is not working perfectly.

          • Sidney Moraes

As you can see the new opera is for Windows and Mac, it is ridiculous try to install it on a Linux. Maybe they will release a Linux version.

          • Shawny_Shawn

There were Linux versions of Opera 12 and earlier releases. Since the new versions don’t support Linux, then there is functionality that is missing (namely the ability to run on Linux), which is clearly a bug. Software with such serious bugs cannot be considered to be “working” until those bugs have been fixed. In this case, it means that Opera will need to have functioning Linux releases, at a bare minimum.

latest chromium ver. is 34.0.1838.0 (250916) why you still at 32.0.1700.107. ?? Is it necessary to have same built with chrome ??

    • Piotr Karol Żółtowski

Latest STABLE Chromium version is 32.0.1700.107. 34.0.1838.0 version is developer version.

    • Chas4

Opera 19 is using the 32.x branch, Opera Next 20 is on the 33.x branch, I am guessing Opera Developer 21 will have the chromium ver. is 34.x branch

    Updated

  • ydcover

For some reasons the loading time takes forever. If I click on a speed dial item it needs more than 30 seconds to show the page. For an example: This page here needs in the latest Opera about 20 seconds to load. Firefox, Chrome and IE 11(!) needed less than 4 Seconds. This happens 2/3 of all pages I tried. Something act as a brake and it is not an add-on – nothing in use.

  • ayespy

    Persistent irritation:

It’s not possible to close a tab without clicking on it, first. I should be able to hover a tab to get the “close” X, at the very worst. At best, it should always be there.

    • gdv

In Op12 and earlier, some wanted the “X” on all tabs [you and me ;) ], some wanted “X” only on active tab, and some only wanted a single “X” in upper right corner of window below title bar Minimize/Restore Down/Close controls (in Windows OS) to use to close active tab.

The beauty of Op12 and earlier was that skins and/or settings could accommodate all these options. Hopefully we’ll get there someday with Op15+. :)

      • Frenzie

Yup, I dislike X on all tabs because it takes up space and I might click it by accident. I prefer the MDI style close button.

    • http://twitter.com/rluik Rafael Luik

      Middle-click it…

      • ayespy

Really? Now I have to middle-click things? I’ve never middle-clicked anything in my life (well, hardly) and it’s very uncomfortable on my mouse. The wheel wants to scroll, and there’s a lot of resistance to the downpressure needed to “click.”

        Sill, better than nothing.

        • gdv

          Better than nothing… (true) :)
…but not possible on my laptop touch pad :(

          • ayespy

Ouch. Forgot about touch pads. My wife’s thinkpad does have a sort of “middle button” along with her touchpad, but I know this is extremely rare.

          • gdv

Yeah, and mine doesn’t even have L & R buttons, just L & R corner to click. So can’t Click and Drag. Have to Tap (just so) and drag instead, which works, but often takes multiple taps to get it just right. I’d much rather have the pad plus at least 2 actual buttons. :-

    • https://www.aeyoun.com/ Daniel Aleksandersen

This applies for background tabs when you have many tabs open. The click target for selecting the tab would be too small if the tab turned into a Close button. There is a tab-width threshold when this behavior kicks in.

      • ayespy

Right. But if you click on a tab with no close button, you get a close button. Should be able to get this with a hover, not be made to open the tab in order to close it.

      • ayespy

This, by the way, is one of the benefits of vertical tabs. You can have like 39 of them, and every one is legible and has a close button. All the time.

The only release notes for .107 build are updated integrated Flash Player.
Does Opera also use the Pepper Flash?

Does opera have some plan to use pepflashplayer?

        • https://www.aeyoun.com/ Daniel Aleksandersen

Chromium at least is planning to drop support for NPAPI plug-ins. I cannot comment on how Opera will respond to this at this time.

  • LoverOfLife

Why favicons of bookmarks are disappearing ?

    • Vux777

maybe you are using some third-party solution app for cleaning your comp?
I’m saying that because in old Opera, very popular CCleaner would wipe all my Notes Favicons.

      • LoverOfLife

Indeed i use CCleaner, but this time i didn’t use it. Just built in Clear browsing history (cleared cache). i’ve backup my favicons somewhere, and i’ve done some experiments. in Opera Next this never happens, but after latest updates, Facebook it’s not working properly… I’m stuck in between Opera Stable, Opera Next and Cool Novo browser… I don’t know anymore what should i use. I’m very disappointed..

        • Vux777

yes, when clearing cache, most of my favicons are gone. Same thing happens in Sable and NEXT

  • http://snaked3.ru Snake22

    Hi Opera.
Offroad mod don’t work in Private Window

    • https://www.aeyoun.com/ Daniel Aleksandersen

This is by design. Off-Road-Mode sends data through Opera’s servers to achieve compression. Like HTTPS-sites, Private Browsing is considered, … well, private.

      • Nekomajin42

How about an optional setting to use off-road with private browsing? It would remain private on the local machine. This feature, unlike its name, is also good to quickly open a new account/session on websites, or just delete history and cookies without any further action. With a power-user flag and a detailed warning message, it would be an awesome feature.

        • https://www.aeyoun.com/ Daniel Aleksandersen

It would be enormously difficult to explain to the user what the two options were and why they would choose one over the other.

          • Nekomajin42

That’s why power user settings are, isn’t it? The current method should be default, and the option should be hidden with the konami spell.

      • Vux777

I would also like to have off-road on HTTPS, most visited sites are social networks on https.

        • https://www.aeyoun.com/ Daniel Aleksandersen

In my own personal opinion, I believe this would lead to Opera being blocked everywhere “for security reasons”.

  • bowser

Another problem, Mr. Daniel Aleksandersen is that the shortcuts Cntl+(Num of site on speeddial) don’t work. On new version of Opera, this feature doesn’t exist… Why?

    • https://www.aeyoun.com/ Daniel Aleksandersen

I am not familiar with the reasons behind this decision. However, I can theorize that it has to do with how other browsers use this shortcut for tab navigation.

      • http://twitter.com/rluik Rafael Luik

And make it do absolutely nothing in Opera?

    • http://www.facebook.com/hector.maciasayala Hector Macias Ayala

Dials can now be put in folders, there’s no way for Opera to tell which is number 1.

      • guest6768

ehm… number 1 should be the upper left, be it a folder or a single item. Number 2 the next to the right and so on.

        • http://www.facebook.com/hector.maciasayala Hector Macias Ayala

So in my case it would be Control+6 and Control + 2 to go FB?

          Not quite a bad idea.

But what if I have more than 9 folders, that implies pressing more keys per Control key pressed, maybe that is an issue for Devs.

  • stiankrosd

When i downloaded the newest update for opera stable, all my extensions where gone, why is that?

    • Leonardo Gomes

The update ran fine? No error message, not strange happened?

What was the install method? All Users, Single User, Standalone?

      • stiankrosd

The update ran fine and it is only one user om my computer.

        • Leonardo Gomes

Ok, so you just ran the installer with no changes? Same install method as the last one?

          • stiankrosd

            Yes

          • Leonardo Gomes

            Hmm, that’s strange.

In Opera’s profile folder, you can see the extensions folder? There are any content inside it?

          • stiankrosd

Cant find the extensions folder :( .

  • Joana Silva

Opera is right, Linux users should stop whining every day here and should stop begging a Linux version as if it were a favor of Opera(we do not need handouts, there are alternative browsers for Opera 15+) as well as Windows/Mac users also should stop whining about bugs for Windows/Mac version every day(It must be annoying for Opera to have to endure complaints from users). I advise Linux users to do the same: Linux users, stop whining and move to another functional/reliable/stable browser like Firefox, QupZilla, SRWare Iron, etc!!! it’s a simple solution, isn’t? So you will not be worried and developers of Opera will be happy to know that annoying Linux users are not bothering them, and in this way everyone will be happy.

No, that’s not acceptable. Opera 12 ran on Linux just fine. Chrome, Chromium, Blink and V8 all run on Linux just fine. There’s absolutely no excuse and no valid reason why Opera 15 to 20, and likely later versions, don’t run on Linux.

Linux should have been supported when Opera 15 was released. The fact that it wasn’t supported, and still isn’t supported, is extremely shameful and disrespectful to the entire Opera user community.

      • justSQL

You obviously have no idea about programming, right?

Chrome has linux – Opera doesn’t – So what? They only share Chromium / Blink, not like you just copypaste shit and have your linux there.

There’s nothing disrespectful in releasing Win / Os x versions and not waiting for linux; with your idea of ‘releasing Opera 15 when Linux is available too’ we still wouldn’t have Opera 15 to use on either Win / Os x / Linux.

”There’s absolutely no excuse and no valid reason why Opera 15 to 20, and likely later versions, don’t run on Linux.”

So now you know how they’re developing this software, too? You know the devs have no reason to NOT release Linux version yet? Yeah, you should probably go lead their Linux team in that case.

        • UKBEAST

Maxthon have Linux version based on chromium which is in beta.
The company also has a active forum for ideas and bugs which they reply back to and keep people in the loop.
          http://forum.maxthon.com/forum-62-1.html

I understand that Opera is having difficulty coding for Linux but as a Linux user I don’t enjoy being kept in the dark and read releases of Windows and Mac OS being released, and wondering if I will be stuck on the last browser that uses presto.

          I’ll stick with Maxthon imho.

          • justSQL

I would love to comment ‘That’s what you get for using Linux’ but no.

But seriously, why do you come here daily to cry about it. Not going to make any difference.

          • justSQL

And PLEASE, don’t say you’re crying here because crying @ Maxthon forums works.

          • UKBEAST

No, just Alpha for Maxthon Appeared last year on omgubuntu and since then gets updated.
Not sure if anyone ones crying. (Why do you need to reply twice to me?)

          • justSQL

Why are you here asking for Linux version every single day? You already know the answer.

          • UKBEAST

Are you confusing me with other Linux users?

          • justSQL

‘You’ can mean multiple people. you know?

    • UKBEAST

      Yeah, you are so right.
I am never turning back to Opera, Maxthon for Linux is a webkit based browser is cool because the it gets updated frequently and they reply to problems,
So Long, and Thanks for All the Fish Opera

  • Scribe_uk

Please sort out the rendering on this site – http://theroyalwindsorforum.yuku.com/ it works on eight other browsers including Opera 12. If the page is zoomed, the text gets larger but the image stays the same.

Screenshot of Opera 19, and as rendered in other browsers.

  • WB

Do you all have the 3 Opera browsers (Stable/Next/Developer) installed on your desktops? I think I will get rid of Next and stay only with the other 2.

    • Leonardo Gomes

I have one of each stream but i use only the Developer build for my daily browsing, the others are more for testing purposes.

      • http://www.facebook.com/hector.maciasayala Hector Macias Ayala

        • Leonardo Gomes

          I know. :-)

  • Vux777

it’s not a big bug, and it does not breaks functionality, but…
..clicking first time on bookmarks bar folder makes fly-out menu blinks (irony ツ )
when moving mouse to different folders on BB this doesn’t happen, only on first click

  • newto

I’m a user/fan since Opera 7, and i’m trying to understand the new direction you guys are taking.
I know there’s a lot of critics, so here’s a suggestion i’ve to the team:

So, you guys kind of “dropped” the Bookmarks and Speed Dials is the new “home” for that.
I’ve tried this way to save pages, and i’ve just one complaint…
Saving pages into Speed Dial folders from the go, right there on the address bar.
    I’ve made a design-mockup to explain better.
With this function, my navigation would go smoothly.

Cheers and keep it up the good work.
PS: Huge fan of Visual Tabs too, bring it back please.

    • Darklink88

OMG I was thinking about something similar! I really hope Opera devs will move in that direction!

      • newto

I hope for the same, but they are on the edge of choosing new functions or improving the current ones.

  • m.ksy

For now google “banned” new Opera 19.0.1326.63 by useragent string and I see old google interface :( Or this is only for me happned?

    • Vux777

where do you see it? on google search?
If I access google from my bookmark, I get that old search page with black top bar because I customized bookmark not to give me suggestions, but if I enter google.hr in address bar, I get new interface
Both, my bookmark and typing in address bar are localized google search versions
      example

      • m.ksy

this happens for me on google.com, if I use default Opera user-agent string I get page with black top bar, when I switch user-agent with extension to Google Chrom I get page with new interface. I also uses localized version but not on my country domain com.ua. When I use google.com.ua all is fine, but I don’t want to use it.

        • Vux777

how do you access google.com without redirecting to your country domain?

          • m.ksy

Yes, without redirecting to my country domain.

          • Vux777

if I use url from Saskatchewan post (google-com/ncr) google looks like this….google-com is in address bar.
Maybe you using some other method/extension to avoid redirecting, and that could be a cause of it (old or wrong user agent)

          • Saskatchewan
    • Leonardo Gomes

I didn’t notice any difference here, Google “interface” looks the same on Opera Stable and Developer as also in Firefox.

  • MozPri

    O21 where are you?

  • Guest

There this youtube which is really annoying.
When you try to change the video quality(Say 720p or 1080p) the video simply freezes.
Nothing appears and the video goes black.
Please fix this bug.ITS REALLY ANNOYING !!!!!!

    • Leonardo Gomes

Not happening here, YT videos plays fine.

  • Dovelove

Opera worked for years to have a design that people LOVED and destroy it in a year or less… I’ve tried and tried to use these versions and have an “open” mind. Eventually I keep going back to dependable, “DIFFERENT” configurable Opera 12.16.
Every time I go to the LATEST STABLE release I am disappointed. I also miss panels, old worked well bookmarks etc.
I’ve noticed even though I have , do not track, cookies no third party. Google ad-block plug in, duck duck go, and facebook I still give my IP address away although I am on a VPN. More POP-UPS, etc.
I have small problems even when I configure it correctly, like in downloads “show download path” on download doesn’t always work for me. No run only.

  • Scribe_uk

Could the items om the bookmarks bar be moved closer together, since there isn’t enough space to fit in all my usual ones. And, when are we going to get proper bookmarks as well – putting them in a folder on the bookmarks bar wastes even more space.

It doesn’t seem to be possible to just open a PDF – the only option is to download it first.

    • Vux777

-for single pages, you can edit the title and leave just favicons on BB, that will save space…you can do that for folders too, but they are not visually different
-try sumatraPDF reader… I’m using it and I don’t have problems reading pdf’s in Opera browser

      • Scribe_uk

Thanks, yes you are right about the bookmarks. It can be done that way, but workarounds shouldn’t be necessary if Opera is to become a top browser again!

  • Chas4

Not every tab has a CPU or Memory listing in the Opera Task Manager

    • Leonardo Gomes

Any examples? Here i see CPU and Memory for all opened tabs.

      • Chas4

        I am on OS X 10.9.1

I have around 100 tabs in about 10 windows

        • Leonardo Gomes

I’ve noticed that if i open a a link from a page in a new tab, they are shown “attached” (there is a vertical line on the left uniting them) on the task manager and they seem to share the infos.

Maybe this is what you are referring to?

  • vtrafimchyk

Why not active “Bookmark importer”? Using latest O19.

    • http://twitter.com/rluik Rafael Luik

It’s only selectable when Opera detects an Opera Presto installation in the system (it serves only for importing from old Opera Presto, not other browsers at the moment).
In the forums you can find workarounds to force an import from Presto or import bookmarks from other browsers to the newest Opera.

  • blackcoder

Sometimes I see these two issues:

On this blog the little arrows to upvote or downvote a comment look different, but get back to normal if I hover them with the mouse cursor.

On tmz.com the names as bold text overlap with the other text. Reloading the site fixes it.

  • ayespy

OK – that was weird. Opera was minimized to the taskbar. I clicked on it to restore it and got an error message: “Cannot open profile directory, as you lack sufficient privileges. You may want to speak with your administrator about this.”

Closed that error message, which de-activated the taskbar highlighting of the Opera icon, and then opened Opera normally.

Never seen anything like this before.

  • ayespy

Too frequently with this version, “refresh” feeds me the same page from cache I was just looking at, no updates. Further, revisiting a link seems to do the same thing often.

Leaving and returning to a page repeatedly will suddenly reveal updates that are several minutes old.

  • lbela

in this release i cant stop “playable” gifs (on 9gag), wasnt a problem in the earlier versions. Another bug i found, that the “dead tabs” are here again, cant really know the cause, but sometimes when i open a tab in the background (middle click) only get a tab with “loading..” without any url, and if i type something, its doing nothing. Occurs once in every about 20-30 tab opening. Its a bug for me from the beginning, but wasnt occured in the last update, but here again.

  • UMaster 7

go to a website -> click on some link (subpage) -> close tab -> delete both in history -> both are gone in the history overview, but the main website is still recommended in drop down when typing in address bar

    W8.1×64

    • L33t4opera

      Hi UMaster7,
      O-Menu->Settings(or “Alt+P”)->Privacy & security:
In the “Privacy” section, deselect the “Use a prediction service to help
complete searches and URLs typed in the address bar” checkbox.

      • UMaster 7

ok, thx, but shouldn’t it working without this option, because I deleted the entry?

        • L33t4opera

The address bar shows matches from your browsing history, in addition to predictions. If you don’t want to see matches from your browsing history, you must clear that as well.

          • UMaster 7

I’m not sure, you know what I mean. If I delete an entry in the history (ctrl+h), why does it make sense, that I still get it as suggestion?

          • L33t4opera

Could you please read this article? I think, that it should explain a lot regarding this matter for you.

          • UMaster 7

        The page (tab) crashed

  • Vagelis Dhmos

Before the last update , everything was OK. Now, Opera version 19.0.1326.63 is awful!
Opening web pages seems to be a matter of LUCK. Whether it is in a good mood, it will open everything. Whether in bad mood, Chaos!
    Please, FIX IT!

  • UMaster 7

if you analyse an element or go to the tools via ctrl+shift+i => click on an image in the source code, Opera just opens “resources” but doesn’t go to the clicked image.
