Opera collaborates with Brazilian female artists to bring new Themes to your browser

We’re jazzing up Opera One with two new custom themes, Calma and Sossego, inspired by Bossa Nova and made in collaboration with Brazilian artists Aline Bispo and Naia Ceschin. These new themes bring Brazilian vibes into your browser – think about peace, the vibrant colors of nature, and the energy of a warm day at the beach, accompanied by the rhythm of distinctive music.
New themes carefully crafted by Brazilian artists
We introduced themes last year with the launch of Opera One R2 – our best and most beautiful browser to date. And the most beautiful is precisely because of the themes we released in it. Since then, you’ve been asking for more themes, and so we’re delivering them to you. This time we’re introducing Calma and Sossego, two themes characterized by vibrant colors and the energy of Brazil. They are accompanied by Brazilian Bossa Nova soundscapes – a unique music genre. Shoutout to Combustion Studio for composing them.
These themes allow us to showcase and promote local artists that do an amazing job at representing their culture and its diversity – all while also giving you more options to customize your Opera browser. These themes cater to those of you looking for a colorful and vibrant digital environment with a pinch of inspiration from Brazil.
For us, Brazil is a special place where a growing number of you have chosen Opera to be your default browser, both on desktop and mobile, making Opera the top browser in the country that doesn’t come pre-installed. Just last year we launched a Brazilian-themed wallpaper competition to celebrate the growing community of Opera for Android users. Today we’re once again acknowledging our amazing Brazilian community by bringing a touch of their culture into our flagship browser for desktop – Opera One.
Enjoy some Calma with Aline Bispo’s theme
Picture this, you’re on a beach in Brazil with warm sun shining on your skin and the gentle rush of waves against the shore. This is what Aline Bispo’s Calma theme conveys – along with the beautiful colors of the Brazilian seaside and its people. Additionally, Calma comes with a relaxing soundscape.
Artist Aline Bispo explores plurality through diverse media, including canvas, paper, fabrics, and performance. Her work blends religious icons and nature, in colorful compositions that reflect Brazil’s socio-cultural history. Aline investigates themes of syncretism and celebrates the local black culture and nature. Since 2020, she has been a trustee of the Ibirapitanga Institute, advocating for democratic freedoms. Her work has been exhibited in numerous shows, including her solo exhibition at Luis Maluf Gallery in 2021, and is part of collections at MASP and MACRS.
“Inspirada na natureza brasileira, desenvolvi a arte intitulada Calma com o intuito de dividir com o mundo um pouco do que é o Brasil e sua relação com a Bossa Nova. Transmitir a relação entre a tranquilidade do mar, nossas belezas naturais e culturais, de modo orgânico, através dos traços, acolhendo o usuário do navegador” – Aline Bispo.
“Inspired by Brazilian nature, I developed the artwork titled Calma with the intention of sharing with the world a little of what Brazil is and its connection with Bossa Nova. To convey the connection between the tranquility of the sea, our natural and cultural beauties, in an organic way, through the strokes, welcoming the browser user.”
Introducing Naia Ceschin’s Sossego in Opera One
Soothing and graceful, Naia Ceschin’s theme transmits calm serenity to your browser. This colorful and joyful work of art, Sossego (literally: serenity), makes you want to venture out and explore Brazil’s natural beauty. The soundscape that accompanies this theme is inspired by Bossa Nova beats, and is as soothing as the artwork is alluring.
Visual artist and illustrator Naia Ceschin draws inspiration from her everyday experiences, exploring moments of contemplation and presence. Nature and its colors play a central role in her creations, enriching her artistic expression. Her work stands out for its diversity of elements and tones, a characteristic also present in the themes developed for Opera One.
“Esse projeto se relaciona muito com o que gosto e como gosto de desenhar. Paisagens, cores que trazem uma tranquilidade e cenários que misturam seres vegetais e animais de forma lúdica.” – Naia Ceschin.
“This project is very much connected to what I like and how I enjoy drawing. Landscapes, colors that bring tranquility, and scenes that playfully blend plant and animal beings.”
