Hey everyone,

We’ve just launched something new, and it comes with music, movement, and a large amount of airtime. Introducing #OperaMiniDataDance: a TikTok challenge in which we’re inviting young South Africans to showcase their creativity and connectivity while offering them a chance to stay online and win up to five years’ worth of airtime.

Over the next few weeks, we’re inviting Opera Mini users to take part in a dance challenge on TikTok. The most creative entries could win long-term data prizes – including up to five years’ worth of airtime**.

Why we’re doing this

We recently asked South Africans aged 16 to 35 about their mobile internet habits, and the results were clear: Sixty-two percent said mobile data is simply too expensive, while 63%* said they run out at least every other month. Most striking of all, 86% said that if data were more affordable, it would have a meaningful impact – from learning a new skill to applying for jobs to keeping in touch with friends and family.

Opera Mini is built to help you get more out of your data. It uses compression technology to reduce how much data your browser uses, blocks ads, and even offers 3GB of free data every month for MTN users in South Africa.

How to join the challenge

We teamed up with local artists to create a custom amapiano track just for this campaign. You’ll find it on TikTok under the name “Opera Mini Data Dance.” Here’s how to join:
