Opera for iOS updated with accountless Aria and home screen widgets

Hey all!
Opera for iOS has been transformed by some big changes recently, and we’ve got a couple more for you today! First up, our built-in browser AI, Aria, is now available without the need to sign in – with more immediate access than ever, it’s perfect for when on the go. And in addition, Opera for iOS comes with customizable home screen widgets that give you quick access to core features like search, tabs, and Aria browser AI.
Accountless Aria
Aria is packed with advanced AI features, and now you can access them all while you’re out and about – without having to stop and sign in. You can ask questions aloud with Voice Input when you’re running around and your hands aren’t free. You might create visuals on the fly for work or play with Image Generation, powered by Google’s Imagen 3 Fast model. Or you could take a picture and immediately have Aria analyze the contents with Image Understanding. And this is all in addition to Aria’s ability to assist with tasks like summarizing websites, generating text, or answering all sorts of questions.
To unlock Aria without an account, all you need to do is make sure that your Opera for iOS has been updated to the latest version. You’ll have access to all of Aria’s functions, but note that Image Generation is capped at five images per day if you are not signed in. That number is bumped up to 30 images a day if you do sign in, plus you’ll get additional benefits with Aria like the ability to save your chat history.
Home screen widgets
This update to Opera for iOS also comes with a new feature: fully customizable home screen widgets. The widgets allow you to create shortcuts directly on your iPhone’s home screen so that you can access the most important features in a single click.
To set it up, just long press the Opera icon on your home screen. You can then create widgets that will act as shortcuts to search or Aria, plus options to open a new tab or go into Private Mode.
Long pressing on the Opera icon also now displays a menu with further options. You can open a new or private tab, access search or Ask Aria, and more.
These additions speed up your daily browsing by giving you one-tap access to the features that matter most.
Growth in new users
Innovative, user-focused updates like these have spurred Opera for iOS to some significant growth recently. Between September and November 2024, our flagship browser for iPhone recorded a 33% increase in new users across the European Union and a 31% rise around the world! So our thanks to you – you’re the reason we keep coming up with exciting new features as we look to craft the very best browning experience possible.
