Hi Błażej, thanks for the update, small but significant 😉

  • Spideymang

Thanks for the update, greetings from Mexico city

    • BK

      Greetings from Wroclaw

  • icetom

I dont use Win7 32 bit, but its amazing that you fixed that so fast. Hope you can keep up that speed.

  • Nachiketa Ramesh

    Thank you sooo much

  • Nachiketa Ramesh

Ok this update fixed the crashing on youtube I had. But now, when youtube videos load, they get stuck and stop even though the grey bar for buffering progress is far ahead. Also, stuck with the HTML 5 player with no way to switch to flash. Am on Windows 8.1 X64

*Edit* I spoke too soon. It hangs after about 10 seconds into any Youtube HTML 5 video and doesn’t respond resulting in a force close.

    • BK

Hm.. can you try clean USB version installation (the one without extensions, sessions, custom configuration, changed flags etc..)? I’ve like at least few Win 8.1 machines that play various HTML5 youtube movies just fine.

      • Nachiketa Ramesh

        How do you do that?

      • Nachiketa Ramesh

I’ve tried that and even on the standalone clean USB install, it crashes on HTML 5. Are there any details I can give you to help figure out what exactly is causing this?

        • BK

How about developer O31 version? Is there the same issue?

          • Nachiketa Ramesh

Yes. Opera Stable 29 doesn’t though.

          • Nachiketa Ramesh

Yes. Not in stable 29 though

          • BK

            Thanks for checking.

          • BK

            Maybe two more questions;
            – what kind of graphic card to you have?
            – what version of windows version? Like, proffesional, home, etc?

          • Nachiketa Ramesh

I have the AMD Enduro switchable graphics setup which is an AMD Radeon R9 M265 and an integrated Intel HD 5000. AMD Catalyst has locked Opera down in power saving mode in the switchable graphics settings and that should mean that the integrated card is used.

I have Windows 8.1. Its the Core version with the OEM license and came with the laptop. It is not the Single Language version.

          • tdudziec

            how about GPU process?

Menu-> show more –> show developer tools
            Developer tools-> task Manager

do you have it up and running when video is down ?

          • tdudziec

Could you share link to the video that is crashing for you ?

          • Nachiketa Ramesh

EVERY YouTube video or video that uses a HTML5 player. Do you really need a particular link?

          • tdudziec

            no then .
what is interesting is the answers to the comments from above (expecially GPU process existence)

          • tdudziec

Any example of not working video ?

          • tdudziec

            EDIT ;
Please check also one thing . :

Please observe your processes of Opera .
1 when everything it is ok in Opera and youtube is working fine
2 . When the video is stuck .

To see those process please use:
Menu-> show more –> show developer tools
            Developer tools-> task Manager

What is really interesting is the fact if you have process GPU up and running in those situations.

p.s. you can ‘force’ YT to get flash content .
please start opera in launcher.exe –user-agent=”some starnge UA”

then you would have flash content . you canalways check this in youtube.com/html5

ps.2 you can always disable your MSE support in opera:flags and check if your YT is working fine then.

please also always check stats for nerds on YT content
            (RMB->stats for nerds)

Please give us not working links for you we would check them.

  • SQL

Is it using Flash now on Youtube or did you actually fix the issue?

    • Leonardo Gomes

It was fixed through browserjs for now.

      • SQL

Well, at least I have Win 7 x64. Flash isn’t working for me at all anymore, and i don’t really want to debug the problem any further.

  • Cehd

    Thanks for the update.
Youtube videos play just fine, through Flash Player. (not HTML5)
In the Youtube HTML5 page, it says that Opera doesn’t support MSE & H264, Webm. So Youtube works through Flash Player only. Is that a problem or is it just the fix? 🙂

    PS: Windows 7 32bit here.

    • Nachiketa Ramesh

For me, I’m stuck on HTML 5 and can’t play flash. Weird.

      • Cehd

        Windows 7 32bit –> Stuck with flash, can’t play HTML5.
        Windows 8.1 64bit –> Stuck with HTML5, can’t play flash.

Something happens, but I wonder if this is a bug or a fix?

        • Nachiketa Ramesh

But Flash works. I’d prefer it to HTML 5 which FCs the browser.

        • Leonardo Gomes

Windows 64 bits from 7 to 10 isn’t affected by the issue, so Opera will get the default player on YouTube.

          • Nachiketa Ramesh

            I’m affected. I’m on a 64 bit OS.

          • Leonardo Gomes

            Which one?

          • Nachiketa Ramesh

            Windows 8.1 X64

          • Leonardo Gomes

Any changes if you disable browser://flags/?search=mse#mse-h264-support ?

          • Nachiketa Ramesh

Opera says it cant find the browser protocol

          • L33t4opera

            Hi, please try opera:flags#mse-h264-support, instead.

          • Nachiketa Ramesh

            No, still crashes.

          • Leonardo Gomes

But you are having a page crash or an issue with html5 videos not playing on YT?

          • Nachiketa Ramesh

Well what happens is in the latest Opera Stable 30 and Opera Developer 31, HTML5 videos load for about five seconds before the video hangs but the buffering oddly continues followed by the whole browser not responding at all leaving me no other choice but to force close or wait. And no amount of waiting changes the situation.

Opera 29 seems to work fine on HTML5 video though. This problem occurs with or without extensions. The specs of my laptop are the following in case this has anything to do with it:
Intel Core i7 5500U and Intel HD Graphics 5000 + AMD Radeon R9 Graphics and 8GB of ram and a SSHD for storage. I’m running Windows 8.1 X64

          • Leonardo Gomes

Do you have the lastest drivers for the video cards?

If you disable the Radeon video card, there are any changes?

Have you tried with a clean profile?

          • Nachiketa Ramesh

I have the Radeon 15.4.2 beta drivers and I had them before I upgraded from 29 and they worked fine then. Profile is default on power saving. I’ve tried a clean profile. Is there some log I can generate to give you more details?

          • Nachiketa Ramesh

I am on the latest stable Intel drivers for video which I suspect Opera uses for acceleration on Enduro by default. I am on the latest 15.5 AMD Catalyst beta drivers which I was on on Opera 29 as well.

The default profile uses the Intel integrated card itself. Enduro doesn’t allow me to “disable” a video card manually by default.

I am on the default profiles.

//BTW you guys are really awesome and are actually trying to fix this issue. Best dev team ever IMO

          • Leonardo Gomes

Ah, i meant an Opera profile. You can get a new one by just renaming the current one.

Btw, i don’t work for Opera. I’m just another user trying to help.

          • Nachiketa Ramesh

I’ve tried a clean USB install. Doesn’t that qualify?

          • Leonardo Gomes

            It does, for sure.

          • L33t4opera

Try to enable opera:flags#disable-accelerated-video-decode, and if this doesn’t help, go to Settings > Advanced settings, and tick the checkbox on the left of the “Show advanced settings”, and then under the “System” untick the checkbox on the left of the “Use hardware acceleration when available”, and click “restart” on the right, and see if this helps.

          • Nachiketa Ramesh

            Nope, problem still occurs.

          • Leonardo Gomes

On opera:gpu, what is the status for video decode?

Do you have the latest driver for you video card? Which one is your video card?

          • Nachiketa Ramesh

            Status is “hardware accelerated”

          • Leonardo Gomes

I don’t think it will help but ,just in case, can you try disabling Disable hardware-accelerated video decode in opera:flags, restart Opera and see if it changes anything?

          • Nachiketa Ramesh

            Already tried. Didn’t work.

          • Leonardo Gomes

Open opera:flags and look for “MSE & H.264 support”. Then disable the flag and see if anything changes.

        • tdudziec

Could you share any example of not working video ?

          • Nachiketa Ramesh

Check my comment below. Every Youtube/html5 video

    • BK

Fixed MSE & H264 solution for x32 will be arriving via O31 beta channel very soon.

  • Trevor Gough

Videos like the following that play fine in other browsers like PaleMoon, Firefox, Chrome, IE, Slimjet, Otter, etc. still do not play in Opera 30 on Windows 7 32-bit here:

    • BK

Do you have latest build version and latest browser.js ? See https://blogs.opera.com/desktop/2015/06/youtube-on-windows-7×32-fix/

      • Trevor Gough

Yes, I have 30.0.1835.59. When Opera 30 Stable updated today, would it not update the browser.js?

        • BK

Not right away, and it might kick in only after restart. Check this page:

          https://www.opera.com/docs/browserjs/ . Do you have there Opera OPRDesktop 28.0 core 1750.0, June 9, 2015. Active patches: 20 . ?

          • Trevor Gough

I don’t understand all this, quite frankly. I’ll just use a browser that works. Opera has too many nagging issues with too many hoops to jump through to remedy–“MIGHT kick in?”

I have a browser.js. I have no idea what it contains. It’s not readable as far as I can tell. I get a Microsoft Jscript runtime error when I click on the file.

          • Trevor Gough

That page link you gave me says this near the top of the page: “Current browser.js status: enabled. Target version and time stamp of the active browser.js file is Opera OPRDesktop 28.0 core 1750.0, June 9, 2015. Active patches: 20 .”

          • Trevor Gough
          • BK

Sorry for inconvenience using Opera browser.

Thanks for details, we will investigate tomorrow.

          • Trevor Gough

Thank you for your kind assistance.

          • tdudziec

It is also important that your OS is supporting GPU acceleration. To check -> Opera -> more tools-> show developer tools
then Opera Menu ->Developer -> Task Manager

Check if you have GPU process up and running

          • Trevor Gough

I don’t see any process called GPU there.

          • Trevor Gough

I did this; there is no GPU process running that I see. Now what?

    • 59er

Same here, though using Windows XP SP3. Disabled Ublock…no joy.

Videos play using Firefox and Slimjet.

  • Dante Raven

Opera Developer works perfectly in youtube (html5), thanks for it !!!!

  • jojoPL1987

EN: I have Windows 7 64-bit. From the previous version of Opera I have a problem with, playback even short (about 5 minutes) videos to YouTube. The problem occurs when I set 1080p somehow, if I set less is good. Opera’ve updated to version 30.0.1835.59 but problems still exist. I have the Internet 10 MB / s, so it is sufficient unite to support such films – and I have several versions of Opera back all was well. Now, despite the significant progress already cached on the film jams and the sound is not smooth. I remind you that I have such a situation only at 1080p.

PL: Mam Windows 7 w wersji 64-bitowej.

    • BK

Hi, thanks for details. This might be hardware/software issue. Can you please check your CPU usage during playing? What CPU/GPU do you have? Is the issue occurring on other browsers too?

      • jojoPL1987

EN: 1. No, it is not really a problem with the hardware / software. On the last stable version before 30 this problem was not there.
        2. In the latest stable Opera recreated this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BgDB3Z4lI6o and set quality 1080p, CPU usage was 100%. I changed to 480p, consumption fell to about 70%.
        3. Processor: Intel Pentium Dual CPU E2180 @ 2.00 GHz. Graphics Card: Zotac GT 620 Synergy Edition 2 GB. It works on the original drivers Nviida, I currently have installed version 353.06.
        4. I checked the video mentioned in the second point on Firefox 38.0.5, was well even at 1080p resolution setting, the video play smoothly despite buffer the lower part than in the case of attempting to open on the latest Opera.
For me, this is the fault only of the new Opera, as I said, on the last stable version of Opera 29, the problem was not and then I had exactly the same components as the computer at the moment.

PL:1. Nie, to raczej nie jest problem ze sprzętem/oprogramowaniem. Na ostatniej stabilnej wersji przed 30 tego problemu nie było.
        2. W najnowszej stabilnej Operze odtworzyłem ten filmik https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BgDB3Z4lI6o i ustawiłem jakość 1080p, zużycie procesora było 100%. Zmieniłem na 480p, zużycie spadło do ok 70%.
        3. Procesor: Intel Pentium Dual CPU E2180 @ 2.00 GHz. Karta graficzna: Zotac GT 620 Synergy Edition 2 GB. Działa na oryginalnych sterownikach Nviida, obecnie mam zainstalowaną wersję 353.06.

        • BK

          Thanks, we will check that.

          • jojoPL1987

            OK. 🙂

  • Matthias Brandt

Hello, on both my Linux machines (Mint 17.1, no Flash) the integrated mp4 player is not working anymore. I can hear the video’s sound but the video itself is not being displayed.

PS. Just tested: Same thing applies to webm videos (Check Wikipedia for example).

I think you made a mistake with build-suffix, it’s .ffmpeg and should be -ffmpeg.

          • Matthias Brandt

I didn’t build it myself, I am using the samrog131 repository. And youtube’s HTML5 video is working without any problems.

          • Andrew Andreyuk

            use 2.6 version

    • Peter Ivanov

Do not bother with ffmpeg from ppa’s. This guide helped me:
      http://ruario.ghost.io/2014/12/19/adding-h-264-video-support-to-opera-for-linux/

      • Matthias Brandt

But it worked perfectly on Opera 29.

        • Peter Ivanov

I know. I’m on Mint 17.1 and I had to give up on that ppa too.

The 2.4.3 ffmpeg is not working with Opera 30; the 2.7 is built with –prefix=/opt/ffmpeg and Opera does not look for ffmpeg libs there.

          • Matthias Brandt

Ok, thx. Will try on monday.

      • Matthias Brandt

        Fixed, thx.

  • Krasen Ivanov

Can you return the message that was displaying when going fullscreen ?
This new message is very annoying when playing youtube videos, as it takes too long to go away and its distracting.

    • Leonardo Gomes

Which new message? It wasn’t changed afaik.

      • Krasen Ivanov

        http://i.imgur.com/1t43Iif.png

Before was transperant message I think in the middle of the screen that faded away more quickly.

        • Leonardo Gomes

I’ve been seeing that message since a long time. I really don’t remember it being different.

And at least here it dissapears as soon as i exit fullscreen.

  • Jorton

I failed to get this update. The version number still ends with 52 even after clicking the “Relaunch now” button.

    • Radek Rzepecki

      what OS are you using?

      • Jorton

It’s windows 8.1, 64 bit. Finally updated. It was possibly because my bad internet connection. But I really relaunched it for four times before the final successful update.

    • Jozef Pistej

I had the same problem, manual update helps

      • Jorton

It is probably because of the bad internet.

  • Update.ed

  • Oleg

What about Vista? Vista has H.264 and AAC decoders with update KB2117917, but Opera still doesn’t support it.

    • Lacedaemon

I’ve reported that numerous times for years, the only thing they did was to write in the software requirements that Vista is not supported. That’s “Opera post 2013” for you.

    • Arjan van Leeuwen

This is DNA-39877 and it has recently been implemented. You’ll see it in the next developer release.

      • Oleg

html5test shows that those decoders are supported now on the latest build 32.0.1918.0, but still doesn’t work and there is no DNA-39877 in the changelog :

        • Arjan van Leeuwen

In that case you’ll just have to wait a bit longer. But it’s coming 🙂

  • zdenk0

hi, do i need flash player anymore? if i install flash player, html5 is not working… and video is played through flash. if i uninstall flash, then i have html5 active, but… HTMLVideoElement ticked, H.264 ticked, WebM VP8 ticked, Media Source Extensions ticked and MSE & WebM VP9. However, next to MSE & H.264 is exclamation point and is not active. I have current browserjs. THANK YOU

  • ja

It works, through Flash, thank you. Although, I eagerly await the moment when HTML5 will be fully supported in Opera on Win7 x32 🙂

    • BK

O31 that should be, in beta soon.

  • fortyTWO

Where did the import of bookmarks from Opera 12. Once seen this option.

    • Radek Rzepecki

Go to opera:Settings – > Import Bookmarks and settings and choose Opera 12.

      • fortyTWO
        • Radek Rzepecki

do you have Opera 12 installed on your machine? we’re looking for default O12 profile directory and if it is found all data can be imported.

          • fortyTWO

Yes, it is installed. Understood, this is because the opera x64. And the profile directory is not named “Opera”, it “Opera x64”. If rename, it works.

          • Radek Rzepecki

Confirmed. Thanks for reporting the problem, we will look into this.

  • Jozka Jozin

    Video plugin doesn’t work.

browser.js:42 Opera has modified script or content on apis.google.com (PATCH-1176, Navigation keys are not working on Google – hide Opera tag from userAgent for all sites except hangouts). See browser.js for details

  • Izer0

CTRL+TAB no working. Can’t switch to other tabs. History parsing still take about 3-4 mins on startup. Can’t disable flash plugin, so stupid Youtube playing video even if I have disabled autoplay. Revert back to 29.

    • Jay

I can confirm this report. Unfortunately.

    • Radek Rzepecki

we introduced tab cycler in Opera 30, which switches tab in activation order + shows tab preview and tab menu. There is another shortcut for switching through tabs in visual order and you can configure it on opera:Settings

      • Izer0

How can I disable this stupid behaviour? I don’t want tab menu + show tabs. Lots of flashing things on display, thanks good I don’t have epilepsy. But I have sensitive eyes after laser operation so I don’t like any stupid flashing things. Are you thinking about this cases when you enabling all this things by default?

    • BK

CTRL+TAB : go to settings -> advanced keyboard shortcuts -> reset all

History parsing still take about 3-4 mins on startup. – wow.. but this is regression from O29?

      • Izer0

This is from start (O15), but I deeply investigated problem with history few weeks back when I upgraded to 29 and was playing with Opera. I disabled all extension, closed all tabs and nothings happen, still 3 – 4 mins to start. Then I copied clean history file from another profile and Opera start quickly. So, there is an problem with history parsing or processing.

        • BK

What hardware (CPU/RAM/HDD) do you run? Is this Windows?

          • Izer0

Yes, win 7 64 bit, i5, 12GB RAM, SSD cached disk.

          • BK

Thanks for the details. We’ve been delivering startup improvements in O31 cycle. Can you try to copy the profile and use it with O31 developer? Is there any change for the startup time?

          • Izer0

Still same. I renamed History files inside O31 profile (about 3MB), placed History from Stable (about 26MB). Launch, Opera, freezes for 3 mins. I tried it 3 times, still same.

Get back 3MB History file and Opera start in seconds.

          • BK

Thanks a lot for checking. If there is any chance you could share your history for our analysis and fix purposes, please let me know, as we don’t have steps to reproduce this.

          • Izer0

Not happy with sharing history, I will try to randomize/anonymize urls in history and check if problem persist before send it to you.

          • BK

Thanks! Any chance you can check resource monitor (http://www.7tutorials.com/how-use-resource-monitor-windows-7) if that’s CPU or HDD that is heavily in use during Opera startup? Is it on every Opera start, or just first startup after OS reboot?

          • Izer0

Clearly CPU, permanently between 25 – 45% until Opera show UI, on every Opera startup.

          • BK

Thanks, this is very valuable information.

          • Izer0

So, I anonymized my History and it’s working like original History – load time about 4 – 5 mins. Download it here for analysis: http://www.softpae.com/history.zip … Probably – do you use any “ping” function? (I don’t have time to analyse it through wireshark) I mean, the time increased after anonymization, so maybe you do some ping to URLs from History and this is not working in background, so Opera freezes until all this things done. But maybe I am wrong, try to analyse it on my History file.

          • BK

Wow, I’m impressed 🙂 Thanks a lot, it made my i7 really sweating and it’s now some minute that it’s loading while Opera is frozen! Great work.

I’ve passed the file to DNA-40062. We will continue there. I hope fix will be now simple to deliver.

          • Izer0

Great. Another appeal/request … can you add option to disable tab menu on CTRl+TAB, like, how it worked in O29 (I’m still on O29). My sensitive eyes (laser eye surgery) goes to hell from this lot of flashing things and I mean I am not alone. This flashing is crazy 🙂 Thanks and Good Luck, fingers crossed.

          • BK

            Hmm.
Maybe we should fix the experience instead of adding an option to disable it,
I’ve passed this for the team to consider 🙂

          • Izer0

I still doesn’t understand, why you force so much things by default and make people angry 😎 Another request – I disabled tab menu in flags, but still shown on CTRL+TAB. Maybe you should fix it here, to be not shown when tab menu is disabled 🙂 I don’t want to patch Opera again to get usable behaviour as I did before you give us opportunity to customize keyboard by Preference file (O15-O19). There is no reason to force experience from Opera browser so down. Give us chance 😉

          • BK

Thanks to your input we this is now fixed this in developer. Expect fix next week. We will consider backporting to O31.

          • SQL

I’m having trouble launching as well, for me it parses the history for about one minute, started noticing this problem a few versions back (From maybe 27 or 28 and onwards).

            AMD A6-3420M, Win7x64, 8 GB ram, HDD Hitachi Travelstar 5K750 HTS547575A9E384

    • Arjan van Leeuwen

It’s not that you can’t disable Flash, it’s that YouTube now serves Opera HTML5 video by default, so it’s not using a plug-in to play videos anymore.

      • Izer0

Any option to disable html5 video to emulate “enable by click” function?

        • Leonardo Gomes

There is a extension called “Magic Actions for Youtube” that can force the use of flash player.
Or used to can at least.

  • jason

It’s not too late to disown your efforts and go back to making Opera 11.64 better, the last decent version of Opera.

    • Marko Koivuniemi

Hmm. 11.64 was released 2012-05-10 and quite a lot has happened since then when thinking about web standards… And keeping up future changes are not easy task too. Resources can be spent more wisely. (Like adding tab stacking 😉

    • Gloriam

That boat has long sailed, if you want something more like Opera 11.64 you’re better off looking towards Vivaldi.

Of course in the meantime, stick with Opera, who knows, we might get all those features in the future, I still have hope. 🙂

      • 423423

My +1 is for the “still have hope” part. Other people, please help me not loose mine.

      • Lacedaemon

And even only partially since Vivaldi has also that blinking white flash pest that all Chromium-infested browsers do have.

        • Gloriam

Asking for a custom build engine this day and age probably isn’t very reasonable considering the development costs, only a small percentage uses Opera these days after all.

          • Lacedaemon

If they would have gone the Gecko way as they had originally planned we wouldn’t still be plagued by that (blinking), as Firefox (just as like Opera Presto) does not ever blink.

          • Gloriam

Because Opera uses Chrome’s engine we have access to a lot of extensions beyond what the Opera website offers, I’d consider that a big plus.

          • Lacedaemon

Well different priorities I guess, I prefer not to become epileptic of white blinks or destroy my eyes instead of having a huge pool of extensions…

  • The browser works fine but in Youtbue only I can watch videos with Flashl Player 😛 I hope you can fix it soon! The sidebar is excellent 😀

    • Dante Raven

Html5 works perfectly in Youtube, even with the new player of youtube

  • Shadess

Could we get an option to have the tab cycling as it was? Now instead of being instant one has to look at the tabs menu popping open and releasing ctrl before it actually switches the tab, highly annoying.

Also the tabs menu doesn’t show the actual tab(s) you are on if you have more tabs open than can fit on the view, just shows the first tabs which is fairly useless info at that point.

    • Radek Rzepecki

There is another shortcut for switching through tabs in visual order (the old way). Also you can configure your shortcuts in opera:settings/

      • Shadess

Yes you can change the order it changes the tabs but not the way it does it. Used to be instant and now you need to let go of ctrl before it changes the tab.

      • Shadess

        ty…didn’t think of that.

  • Sorin Manole

I have a problem. After the Opera 30 update, no tabs are loading. I tried deleting the user profile prin AppData/Local and Roaming withtout any success.
Not even the about tab or settings tab. I just get the spinner.
However address bar suggestions do work.

    • L33t4opera

Hi, please try to launch the Opera, as it is described here, and if this helps, then go to opera:flags#mse-h264-support, and select “Disabled” from the drop-down, and then click “Relaunch Now” button, and check if it still works.

      • Sorin Manole

Thanks for the tip! It worked. However I did this another way, I installed Opera 29, then I disabled the flag. Now, after the upgrade to Opera 30, everything worked.

        • L33t4opera

Ok, no problem, I’m glad that it works for you, now 😉

  • ktxgio

Like users “Hadley Zedras” and “plovec”says in previous release comments, bookmarks are no longer accessible from the drop down menu because Opera 30 has bug on the bookmarks menu that is empty.
User “L33t4opera” says that developers are working on…

I have same problem… if is useful, i’m on windows 7 x64 with all upgrades… and using (at the moment) a portable installation

    • Wando Schneider

      Yes, they are working on.

  • PaulH

Come on guys, this update is the sort of quality I expect from Adobe or Firefox, not Opera. Bookmarks – gone. Youtube – broken. Really? Tested??

  • Videos on Facebook doesnt work all of a sudden after the update, no picture just sound. When you maximize a youtube video Opera freezez minimized when you try to mimimize the window again. you havet to force kill opera. I use Windows 8,1 64bit

  • Sidney Moraes

PDF Viewer is not working on Opera stable, beta and developer streams! My OS is Windows 8.1. The PDF viewer works on Ubuntu I don’t know why.

    • Wando Schneider

      It is a known problem.

    • BK

Yes, known and unfixed since O29, sorry for that, DNA-35815.

      • Sidney Moraes

Please, don’t forget the bug is present in beta and developer versions.

        • Leonardo Gomes

Bugs are fixed in developer channel first.

          • Sidney Moraes

I hope they will fix that one.

          • BK

            they will

  • AdminPrint

Windows 7 Ultimate N x64 Updating Opera from 29.0.1795.60 to 30.0.1835.59 has problem I cannot open Opera after the automatic or manual update process. It stuck on loading page, cannot go to anything (opera://setting, opera://flags, www.***.com) If I uninstall 30.0.1835.59 and reinstall 29.0.1795.60 it work again but when update by autoupdate it cannot How I can fix this Thank in advance

    • L33t4opera

Hi, please have a look here 😉

      • AdminPrint

        Thank you very much ^^

  • Vam-J

please come back navigation between tabs as the previous versions.

  • #Bug Report# A lot of users has experienced such a bug in v30 (which is upgraded from 29) that only a empty folder shows in Opera -> Bookmarks menu. Bookmarks are still there but can’t be displayed in that menu. pls check&fix it. thx!

    • Leonardo Gomes

      Known issue.

  • QWERTY qwerty

where is the recent tabs gone?????

  • Pavel Aleksandrov

Please make the sidebar remember if it was left open or closed (and on which extension) when you exited Opera, regardless if it was on speed dial and regardless if the ‘continue where I left off’ option is on.

    • Matheus Bombonato

      This! Please!

  • Thael32

You are outraging me. Half-polish company yet we get wrong translations for more than a month! Now You delete the very basic ctrl+tab shortcut and I have to go and set up it by myself. What are You doing!? Also, no 64-bit for windows 🙁

  • Cidel Fastro

I don’t know how you can consider this stable when you knowingly release something with such massive bugs; PDF viewer, Bookmarks, excessively high CPU usage when hovering SD, no Youtube which is only one of the most popular sites in the world.

Your standards have taken a real nose dive.

    • icetom

who needs bugfixing when we can have new social features? maybe we get some new unremovable bar or new social sharing features for opera 32.

    • Lacedaemon

If you follow the changelogs, you will notice that in the developer stream of 31 after the closure of the Oslo team (20th April) they have fixed 79 bugs in a total of 3 weeks vs. the 100 bugs in 1 week that they used to squash for the first 2 weeks together with the Oslo team (200 bugs in 2 weeks), and that only 1 dev build has been out (the one with the 79 bug fixes, 3 weeks ago) after the initial dev 31 version build of 7 May, while previously there used to be one build a week. The browser is slowed down immensely and it shows, in quality, in features, and in pace.

      • Cidel Fastro

Thank you for pointing that out. I too have noticed quite a drop in the releases of late when compared to the introduction of the new Opera.

I’ve also been extremely disappointed by their mobile apps. Opera was never invasive. I have lost faith in this company

      • BK

Nice math. But do you know about single company increasing the output exactly in the time of restructurization?

        • Lacedaemon

Don’t ask me, ask the usual fanboys of this blog who truly believe that.

          • BK

            right.. 🙂

        • Cidel Fastro

Hmm, so you choose not to address a post that questions your reasoning for releasing a product while knowing it has some rather large issues and instead question someone else in an attempt to defend poor decisions?

          I’ve heard enough.

  • devirto

Soundcloud still doesn’t want to play sounds at all .Help me to fix this.

    • Leonardo Gomes

      It works here.
      Which OS are you using?

      • devirto

        Win7 32-bit

        • Leonardo Gomes

          Windows N or regular one?
          Do you have flash installed?

          • devirto

Win 7 Ultimate , Flash 18 (latest) installed

          • Leonardo Gomes

Do you have Turbo enabled by chance? Or maybe “click to play” enabled on setytings?

          • devirto

No, all settings are in recommended mode. Look …As I said in previous post ( opera://flags >>> Proprietary media types (Enables the use of system decoders to decode proprietary media formats.) >>> Change from Enabled to Disabled >>> Restart browser and VOILA … SoundCloud is working again) …BUT… that was in version 29 stable … NOW in version 30 stable it’s not possible because in ‘opera: flags ‘ there is no option to disable system decoders ) if Opera Team bring back this option I can fix it in this way … now I’m looking for help here (maybe some of the Team will read this and do something ) I really NEED HELP in this .

          • Leonardo Gomes

Does disabling MSE & H.264 support makes any difference?

What about enabling Disable Encrypted Media Extensions?

          • devirto

Tried all these already but no luck … I plan to re-install the OS btw and will be back with news later today so stay tuned 😉

          • BK

Should be easier to try O31 developer version first. It might be Opera final stream problem.

          • devirto

Tried all existing versions at the moment (incl. O31 dev) but all the same NOT WORKING , + now OS is fresh and clean but nothing change at all ……………….
I’m going crazy now – Boom … shut myself down…

          • Leonardo Gomes

If you install this extension and simulate that you are using Opera 29, does it works?

          • devirto

This extension allowing to mask Opera like other browser not as other version of the same browser… tried and the answer is NO … NOT WORKING . If the team doesn’t fix this soon the only solution is to bring back “Proprietary media types (Enables the use of system decoders to decode proprietary media formats.)” in ‘ opera: flags’ , as a temporary solution of course till they fix it totally.

            Mr. Kaźmierczak please help us.

          • Leonardo Gomes

You can edit an user agent or create a new one using the info of Opera 29.

          • devirto

This will not bring back O29 ‘flags’ content .Thanks for the suggestion … uff

          • Leonardo Gomes

It wasn’t supposed to. it was meant to check a possible browser sniffing as soundcloud should be sending you the flash version, i guess.

          • devirto

OK just tried … no luck again

          • BK

Did you set your crashlog variable so that we can check the crash you are having?

          • BK

Thanks for letting us know. Before you proceed with shooting, have some better proposition 😀

if you set in your env variables (http://www.computerhope.com/issues/ch000549.htm)
OPERA_CRASH_EMAIL=’user_email_address’ with some value and let me know, we will be able to identify and fix this crash.

          • devirto

OOPS … I never been so deep into my PC settings so believe me I don’t know what I have to do … can you guide me step by step what exactly have to do … sorry .

Should I create new line OPERA_CRASH_EMAIL=’user_email_address’ or what … confused

          • BK

            https://kb.wisc.edu/cae/page.php?id=24500

you should change ‘user_email_address’ part to some fake or real email address and let me know 🙂

          • devirto

ok I did it … now what !?

          • BK

now let me know what did you filled in in the ‘user_email_address’ 😉

          • devirto

            my real e-mail address

          • BK

no, just any, might be abcd@mail.com, just let me know what you have in there.

          • devirto
          • BK

Thanks. I will look in the DB on Monday and let you know!

          • devirto

            Thanks … will wait 😉

          • tdudziec

we were looking for crashes for you account and so far we found that they are connected with Out Of Memory problems.

Please check if drastically reducing amount of tabs opened is not helping you .

How much Memory do you have on your OS ?

          • Vux777

also, if page file is disabled in Windows, chromiums will report out of memory very fast (Opera and chrome, each with ~10 tabs), and eventually crash

          • devirto

I have 3GB Ram and never use more than 4-5 tabs open (but not often)… 50-60 % Ram (Max) used when Opera is open … everything works fine accept ‘no audio’ on some pages like Soundcloud and Beatport etc. here’s the SC report http://i18.servimg.com/u/f18/12/30/01/57/no_sou10.jpg

          • devirto

Hey, what is going on … is this the end … nothing going to happen now!? … you are not going to do nothing to fix this … so reckless of you … don’t make me sorry that I loved this browser 10 years now … so pity

          • BK

We would like to fix your issue, but apparently all the crashes we get from you is “out of memory” type. We are working on memory efficiency of our browser, but that’s not easy thing. We will investigate further.

          • devirto

Forget about “OUT OF MEMORY” fix the audio on SC …
did you check this picture …
            http://i18.servimg.com/u/f18/12/30/01/57/no_sou10.jpg

          • BK

How is SC behaving for you in dev or beta? Works here on Win 8 O30.

          • devirto

Same in all 3 versions of Opera (stable, beta and dev) not working. All other browsers I tried (Chrome, Firefox or even Vivaldi) works perfect.

          • BK

and crash the movie, ofc 🙂

          • tdudziec

We found some of your crashes in our crash system.
we found root problems for many of them . The fix is on master and should be released in next public developer.

          • devirto

            We’ll see

    • that’s something wrong with the automatic web coding detection. Try manually switch to anthoer one such as utf-8 in Opera menu

      • devirto

LOL Thanks this works. Thank you very very much … and now if you can help me with Soundcloud problem would be awesome

        • works pretty well here. sorry i have no idea about ur problem

  • cashmon90

Perhaps this is just me but no pages load with this update, I’ve been pulling my hair out all day trying to fix it, but it turns out it’s down to your silly update. Back on Opera 28 for now that’s fixed it. C’mon opera get your sh!t together.

    • I have this problem too. Fu**ing Auto Update !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

      • Hi, please try to launch the Opera, as it is described here, and if this helps, then go to opera:flags#mse-h264-support, and select “Disabled” from the drop-down, and then click “Relaunch Now” button, and check if it still works.

  • Sidney Moraes

I have to disable Flahs Player to use HTML5 player, why?

    • Leonardo Gomes

      On YouTube?

      • Sidney Moraes

Yeah. YouTube is using flash player instead of HTML5 which is automatically activated according to YouTube.com/html5

        • Leonardo Gomes

Are you using Windows 32 bits? If so, then it’s because of the fix for the problem with youtube videos not playing.

          • Sidney Moraes

But the videos are playing with both.

          • Leonardo Gomes

Because your Windows doesn’t seem to be affect by trhe issue with the html5 player.

or maybe you haven’t reached a video that could trigger trhe issue yet.

  • kesha2000

    Some issues after O30 update:
    1. Bookmarks deleted from “Speed Dial” are not going to “Trash”.
Bookmarks deleted from “Speed Dial” within “Bookmarks” page are going to “Trash”.
    Is this normal?
    2. “Continue where I left off” checked, closing browser with some opened tabs and “Speed Dial” as active tab, on restart “Speed Dial” tab is gone. Could you fix this? Used to start from “Speed Dial” even if i had something in background.

    Opera 30.0.1835.59 Stable, Windows 8.1 x86.
    Thanks.

    • Leonardo Gomes

What do you mean by “bookmarks from Speed Dial” ?

      • Confirmed issue 1.

        1. Add a website to Speed Dial via the “big +”.
        2. Take note that it is listed under Bookmarks -> Speed Dial
        3. Go back to Speed Dial and delete the newly added website.
        4. Take a look at Bookmarks -> Trash and you will see that the deleted Speed Dial is not listed there.

This is weird considering the fact that if you replace step 3 with
“Delete the newly added website under Bookmarks -> Speed Dial” you will end up with that one listed under Bookmarks -> Trash.

Further if you undo the delete it will not be restored to Bookmarks -> Speed Dial, but to the unsorted bookmarks.

I guess this feature is simply not finished in all aspects.

        • bwat47

          this is bug DNA-34874

the second issue is expected behavior afaik

  • Rinne Tensei

Why the Youtube menu (after login) looks different than Chrome ?? Is it because of V8 or what?? Technically it should look same !! Just curious..

    • Leonardo Gomes

Which menu? It looks the same here both in Opera and Chrome.

      • Rinne Tensei

which is on the Left side.. on chrome its like a dropdown menu.. on opera its different..

        • Vux777

I also have the same dropdown menu in Opera and Chrome, before and after login (different data tho)
          …..
          I’m on win7x64

          • Rinne Tensei

on chrome it goes away on clicking out side the menu, on opera it doesn’t go away.. Win7 x64.. I have chrome 64bit

          • Vux777

works the same on my side on Chrome and Opera.
Click outside menu (on page) removes dropdown menu

          • Rinne Tensei

hmm.. nevermind.. might be browser sniffing in my country

          • bwat47

google likes to selectively roll out experimental changes to their sites, its usually based on a cookie afaik, could be something like that.

          • Leonardo Gomes

Here it goes away if i click in the icon to enable/disable the menu.

        • Leonardo Gomes

Strange, i don’t see any dropdown menu neither in Opera nor in Chrome.

It looks like this on both.

  • Razvan Dragos

Opera Stable 30 get stuck on start`up, even when i want to enter Settings, About Opera or visiting any websites (websites are not even loading).

    • I have seen something similar, but in my case Opera is not stuck, but it just takes a few seconds sometimes. Further this is not new to Opera 30. I see this since several versions.

I am not sure if this is somewhat related.

  • Harry Bosch

Could you add button to quickly add page to Speed Dial? I mean directly and only to Speed Dial.

Right now you can add page to speed dial using that heart shaped icon on the top-left.. but that will add the page to bookmarks and then you can you can hit that small icon to add the page to speed dial. As the result – you have page in bookmarks and speed dial and that creates mess.

And I know you can add page to speed dial when you are at the speed dial, but that’s just not that comfortable.

I doesn’t necessarily needs to be a button. Just another option in right click context menu – there already is option to create a new folder in the speed dial with all open pages. So just like this but add only single page.

    • L33t4opera

Hi, you can right click on the page, and select “Add to Speed Dial” from the context menu, or simply press “Ctrl+B” – you can even add a custom keyboard shortcut for this function in the Settings > Shortcuts > Configure Shortcuts > Add to Speed Dial.

      • Harry Bosch

        Thanks 🙂
Now I feel bad for not knowing that already..

        • L33t4opera

You’re welcome, please don’t be, have a nice surfing 😉

        • Rafael Luik

The bad thing is the entry is added without thumbnail, just URL. It’s by no means the best experience.
          cc/ @L33t4opera:disqus

          • Harry Bosch

I tried it and thumbnail is there – just like everytime.

  • Squirrel

What happened to just-closed in the menu bar ;removing it from where it was in opera 12 already annoys me …..that’s one of the function which I love the most in opera….now I have to go to history to get the tab which was closed by accident back…………..What are you doing !?

    • L33t4opera

Hi, you can find them in the Tab menu by default – please take a look here.

      • Squirrel

Thanks, although not to the way I like, it finally goes back to where it was. The only problem now is that it shows currently opened page by default, requiring a click to open the recently-closed menu…. No matter how, its a great news, thank you for telling me this.

        • L33t4opera

If you mean in the Tab menu, then you can bring back the “Recent Tabs” in the Opera’s menu: go to the opera:flags#tab-menu-with-recent-tabs, select “Disabled” from the drop-down, and click the “Relaunch Now” button.

          • Herr Pietrus

            Ok, but how long?
Don’t forget, that each of these useful flags finally disappears!.

And yes, personally I didn’t like the previous way of opening recently closed tabs list, as for me they don’t need to add it again to the O Menu (an I’m sure they won’t) – but current way is even worse (two clicks instead of one! OK – only for the first time, and in more convenient place, but still…

          • Arjan van Leeuwen

As you say, it should be two clicks only the first time, after that you should have quick and easy access to your recently closed tabs (with less navigating then before in the O-menu). There’s also a helpful shortcut for opening the tab menu 🙂

        • Arjan van Leeuwen

Hi Squirrel, once you click to expand the recently-closed menu it should stay open after that whenever you open the tab menu, even after you restart Opera. If it doesn’t let us know 🙂

    • Squirrel

Thanks, although not to the way I like, it finally goes back to where it was. The only problem now is that it shows currently opened page by default, requiring a click to open the recently-closed menu. No matter how, its a great news, thank you for telling me this.

  • MMD

what dafaq did you do to the Ctrl+tab function? it doesn’t switch between tabs like human … what did you do to opera don’t manipulate it I REPEAT dont manipulate it you’re ruining the experience … FUCK

  • Сергей Трофимов

    1. Why was removed from the opera function show recently closed tabs? !! Return please.
    2. When was the Ukrainian version of Opera will add a section of the game Recommendation / News

    3. Why do not extensions updated, and to press obnovt?
    4. Add a setup function to turn off – turn on Automatic Updates Opera.

    • bwat47

Recently closed tabs was not removed, it was moved to the tab menu on the upper right corner.

      • Helder

But it was downgraded, now you can only see the last 10 closed tabs.

        • escruting

Yeah man, now i just prefer to open the history page because i know that way the tab i’m looking for is gonna be there no matter what. Way to go opera, functionality should not be overlooked in spite of good looking and/or simpler design…

  • Jakub Duda

Just updated my old Opera 12 installation to 30 – deluded myself you finally got it working after all these years.
Notes export to html did not export all notes.
    Bookmarks did not get imported.
Tried to listen music on deezer.com – Bang! Flash not detected.
Going back to Chrome & Vivaldi.
Update: dragging files from downloaded list not possible. Another reason against.

  • Anon

    Dear Opera… what the fuck?

I’ve been using this browser for so many years now (since 6x i think), and it’s the first time ever, that any program made me angry. First my bookmarks are gone from menu, second mouse gestures doesn’t work, and third the keyboard doesn’t work! Can’t type anything in the damn window, textareas, search fields, even ctrl+v doesn’t work. Only the browser’s url bar is responding to keyboard. To post this comment i had to write in notepad and paste with mouse. Who the hell approved this update to be released.

    • BK

Hi, any details on OS version please?

      • Anon

        windows 7 ultimate x64 sp1

        • BK

hm. I only have this proposition:
          1. if you reset the flags to default configuration
          2. go to settings->keyboard shortcuts->reset all

          • Anon

That didn’t help. I uninstalled Opera, removed all files, and downloaded new copy. Installed it again and that fixed the gestures and keyboard.

          • BK

Sorry for trouble. Thanks for checking 🙂

  • Shan

    Maybe someone can help me,
since the latest update, nothing is working for the browser. I can open it, but nothing else. If I want to open the settings, nothings happening. It’s not opening the page. Same thing for websites. It doesn’t even open the favorites page or anything. IE is working fine. Even Opera 12.Something is working fine. Tried a lot from Firewall to uninstall/reinstall, nothings helping?! Any ideas? Please I don’t want to go back to IE or FF or Chrome 🙁

    • Shan

Actually, Version 28.Something works…but after the Update to 30. it doesn’t work. Same with 29. Could really use some help

      • x a

Each new revision of Opera is installed into a new subfolder of Opera’s main Folder in %ProgramFiles% (assuming you use Windows).

You happen to use a firewall, that creates allow-rules and identifies processes depending on their path? Then check your firewall and re-allow Opera to access the internet.

Hi after every update and the last to 30.0.1835.59 opera starts completely new and clean ..all add ons gone everything is gone .. wtf ..? Win XP 3

    • Leonardo Gomes

This is very strange, an update shoudn’t erase your data.

Download the installer again and do a new clean install. Then check if the next update will also erase your data.

      • Lazarus

Hi Leonardo sorry for being late with my reply, was abroad, thanks for your advice will try this later ..cheers

…. ok done .. now we will wait what happenz

      • Lazarus

Ahja … Yeah all add ones gone .. all personal settings just the Sync is a great help .. strange . And it was a brand new installation 30.0.1835.59 and now again as it updated to 30.0.1835.88…

crap isn’t ? I left FF back to Opera cause FF becomes slow as hell .

        • Leonardo Gomes

Check the path to the profile folder in OMenu > About Opera and, in the next update, check if it remains the same.

  • Lazarus

how can I switch off auto update ..?

    • Leonardo Gomes

      Try this

      Another tip.

  • Clicktoplay plug in is failing to work on http://mashable.com/2015/06/16/sweden-pop-music-symposium-stockholm

  • where is the “Recent Closed Tab”? With v. 30 stable was removed!

    • Vux777
      • wow! ok thank!
But I can’t remove some tabs (or all tabs) from recycle byn as in opera v 12, istn’t it?

        • Vux777

no, I don’t think there is a way to remove recently closed tabs, individual or all
(in general, chromiums don’t clear it even when users delete that history item https://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=458078)

edit: actually, if you wipe your whole history, it will clear recently closed… but i guess that’s not what you are asking

  • Венедикт Штилле

Recently, every time I am trying to establish incognito window, but Opera 30 began to crash… I didn’t have any crashes like this with Opera 29 (sidebar was turned on) and even with Opera 30 after I had to recreate profile and reinstalled extensions. It was all right, until the crashes came some days ago. Does anyone have the same experience? My sidebar’s extensions – Bookmarks By The Side, Site Settings, SimpleExtManager and Browse++. However, I suppose, sidebar doesn’t matter. BTW, I turned “errors gathering” on in settings of most extensions. Maybe, one of extensions suddenly brokes in private mode, but I have couple of them at toolbar and all are necessary. So, I don’t know what to do now, how to solve my trouble. Furthermore it seems I don’t change anything in options or flags since Opera 29.

  • t0r0X

    This version, 30.0.1835.59, is just… catastrophic on Mac OS X 10.10.3 64-bit
    ==========
    Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_10_3) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/43.0.2357.81 Safari/537.36 OPR/30.0.1835.59
    ==========

I have lots of tabs open, in 5 windows, but with “delay loading of tabs in background” enabled. So after starting Opera, there are 5 foreground tabs, and the rest is not yet loaded. This worked very fine until this version.

    Now:
    1. At Opera start, some of the foreground tabs are not loaded anymore, with a kind of “out of memory” message (german: “Speichermangel”, try to reload page, etc). Reloading the tab loads the content immediately.
    2. Opera does not exit at Cmd-Q (resp. Cmd-Q+Cmd-Q) anymore. (When option “press Cmd-Q twice or keep it pressed to end Opera” is activated, the Opera windows close, but the browser still runs, the “window” menu shows the closed windows, and nothing happens). [UPDATE: I’ve waited few times some 5+ minutes, but I saw only once Opera end]. I have to use the “end immediately” OSX facility to quit Opera.
    3. The “History > Reopen last closed window” entry is always grey.
    4. Pressing Ctrl-Tab or Ctrl-Shift-Tab always shows the tab list and a tab preview, despite of deactivating the options “show tab preview” and “page through tabs in usage order” (“In der Reihenfolge der zuletzt verwendeten durch Tabs blättern”).

I will try to install a previous version op Opera, don’t care if YouTube Flash works or not. For that I can switch to HTML5.

    • Ania Milaszewska

“Reopen last closed window” can be greyed out when last closed window was only with Speed dial tab or when you restarted Opera, maybe that was the case for you?
Tab list and tab preview is our new feature with shortcuts: Ctrl + Tab or Ctrl + Shift + Tab, for switching right/left through tabs you have other shortcuts: e.g. Alt + cmd + Left or Alt + cmd + Right. You can change your shortcuts under Preferences -> Configure Shortcuts

      • t0r0X

I’ve solved the Opera shutdown/quit issue by setting this flag to “false”:
        opera://flags/#new-shutdown-procedure
After restart, opera now responds immediately to Quit/Exit. I have the vague impression that Opera now behaves a bit better/responsive, but it might be a completely subjective impression.

On “Reopen last closed window”: I do not think that was the case, but my memory might trick me. In any case, at the moment I have Opera 30.0.1835.88, and I can’t reproduce that issue. Will observe the behaviour, though.

Keyboard… changing the default/previous behaviour to the new one was a bad idea, in my opinion. I have modified the keyboard shortcuts a you described, btw. THANKS for the hint! But it is very tedious, because I have to do that on at least 4 different Opera’s. Not fun at all 🙁

  • t0r0X

Help!!!! Where can I get the previous stable version from?

    • Vux777
      • t0r0X

Thanks. I tried reverting to the previous version, and the version before, but that was a bad idea: all my 100s of tabs have dissapeared. I was quite desperate, but.. thanks to Time Machine (OS X) I’ve restored ~/Library/Application Support/com.operasoftware.Opera and here I am back again… (and my issues with this Opera release too…)

https is not displayed the symbol padlock secure page.

Maybe because the page is not fully secure?

  • TheGreatestManWhoEverLived

Had no problem with this version of Opera (version 30) until I upgraded to the newest version of Adobe Flash Player. Just upgraded today and can no longer watch YouTube videos in Fullscreen on Opera, as the player crashes. I even uninstalled Adobe Flash Player, redownloaded the installer and installed it again with the hopes that it would work, but I still get the same result. The problem has to be with Opera (more than likely a compatibility issue) than it is to do with Adobe Flash, because I can still watch videos in fullscreen on both Firefox and Google Chrome

  • does this opera work on windows 10?
i upgraded because 8 kept freezing and now i cant get opera to work
