Thanks for the update, Mateusz. “Extensions popup is fixed (Yay!)” – really good news, thanks Opera’s Developers ;-)

    • http://pavelkouril.cz/ Pavel Kouřil

The last number is USUALLY .0 (which is built as midnight); incrementation of that number means the midnight built failed or something and they had to recompile.

Or that’s how I remember it when somebody explained it in something.2 few builds ago. :)

      • L33t4opera

I think, that this is just mistake, please have a look here:
        http://blogs.opera.com/desktop/changelog20/#b1387.16
        ;-)

        • Mateusz Madej

It is not a mistake by Daniel, he is correct. This time, because of the christmas, we need to work a bit longer with 20, still tweaking and fixing stuff. Though this might be the last update of 20 Developer.

          • L33t4opera

Yes Mateusz, I know, that Daniel is not mistaken, I meant only, that the link to the change log for this build was wrong :-)

    • Mateusz Madej

Thanks for this info. It is not intended, it is purely the fult of me being a noob when it comes to writing posts.

      • L33t4opera

Don’t be so hard for yourself Mateusz, I mentioned about, in case, that you would like to correct it, thanks in advance ;-)

DNA-13446 [Win] Normal windows reopened from “Recently closed” becomes Private
Ah, that’s been “my” bug. ;) Nice to see it fixed.

That leads us to another bug: The context menu in this textarea claims Ctrl-Shift-V to be the shortcut key to ”insert as plain text“ – but that combo does a ”paste to address bar and go“ instead.

    • Vux777

      confirmed

if url address is copied to clipboard, ctrl+shif+v acts as past and go in active tab

      • http://twitter.com/rluik Rafael Luik

Anything in the clipboard will activate Paste and Go instead of Paste text without formatting… DNA-10527 @mateuszmadej:disqus

        • Mateusz Madej

Thanks guys, I will look into it. But it is fixed in latest dev

    • Mateusz Madej

Yeah, it was reproted by You and now it is fixed. Thanks a lot! Hope you enjoy using Opera :)

      • x a

I actually do for decades. ;)

  • Niyawa

I know I asked this once. Would any of you dev guys give thought to an option that would disable the white-gradient at the top of the speed dial? Some people use clean backgrounds and having that makes it unpleasant, at the very least makes custom design not so good in various situations.

    • alex_shpak

I will ask designers about that

      • Niyawa

Thank you very much. I’ll look forward to it.

  • IllusionMH

    Most awaited highlight :)

DNA-15376 Devtools window placement setting is missing – Finnaly :)

Also, any confirmation for http://blogs.opera.com/desktop/2014/01/updated-netinstaller-developer/#comment-1223719461 ?

    • Mateusz Madej

I will see into it. Thanks!

  • Sierra

    Thank you, extensions work now.
This empty space in bookmarks bar looks very ugly, I really need one more icon in bookmarks bar. :)

    • Mateusz Madej

This might use some tweaking, I will look into this personally. Thanks for this report!

    • al_ghul

as I see, bookmarks bar elements can be displayed as icons without name – how can I do this (which setting/flag)? thx in advance!

      • Piotr Karol Żółtowski

Click RMB (right mouse button) on the bookmarks name, then select “Edit”, delete the name of your bookmark and save changes.

That’s it! You now have the bookmark icon without the name :)

        • al_ghul

well, that’s less elegant way for me. i rather thought about global option without deleting description/name of each bookmark. but thanks anyway:)

          • Piotr Karol Żółtowski

            You’re welcome :)

      • Guest

Right click on icon -> Edit -> clear name.

  • http://christoph142.wordpress.com/ Christoph142

What’s the reason for keeping 20 in Dev channel if I may ask?

    • Mateusz Madej

The reason is exactly as always – we need to make sure, that everything is in good shape before we move any further.

      • Guest

        have a look Mateusz

        • Mateusz Madej

I’ve no idea who might’ve deleted that comment. Maybe it was some network or disqus issue? I will check that

    • https://www.aeyoun.com/ Daniel Aleksandersen

The known issues have been the reason. ;-)

      • http://christoph142.wordpress.com/ Christoph142

        But there aren’t any anymore. That’s why I’m asking… ;)

        • https://www.aeyoun.com/ Daniel Aleksandersen

How are we to know without getting some feedback from you guys first? ;-)

          • Vux777

I’m with Christoph on this one. This build (after popup fix) is very good. Only ctrl+shift+V bug so far… very fast and responsive

            btw. Typerdick ?!? ๏̯͡๏
            …seriously?
            rofl ツ

          • https://www.aeyoun.com/ Daniel Aleksandersen

There are some remaining keyboard issues, as you have noticed. Most of them are under control, but … yeah.

Aside: Typerdick is an excellent game for learning touch-tying. ;-)

          • Vux777

            yea…but the name :D

          • http://christoph142.wordpress.com/ Christoph142

            isn’t that somewhat contradicting a KNOWN issue… :D

          • Sync Originals

been offering feedback on the audio issue ( i.e not playing on our site, sync originals, since god knows when, still not fix of a simple request. plus today for my utterly surprise 3 posts on the subject got delete while other had inumerous “votes” here. What is deal>?

        • Marcin Mitek

We could just release it as a stable and then:
          – What about extensions?!
          – Oh, I see, they are fixed. Sorry for not reading ;)

          Just kidding…

Confirmation from you, our users, is important. We thought that this particular fix iself (broken extensions) deserves another build.

The new dev release is supposed to be focused on novelties, not bugfixes. Also, there is no point in calling something stable which has some serious issues, as Daniel already said.

          • http://christoph142.wordpress.com/ Christoph142

We’re not talking about releasing a stable but propagating it to Next channel… Anyway, I got your point.

Since you’re talking about novelties already: What does “Enhanced autofill”-flag do?

  • http://about.me/muhasturk Mustafa Hastürk

My birthday is 28th March. So please prepare Linux version of Opera as a birthday gift for me.

    • Mateusz Madej

      Happy birthday!

      • Philip

        Maybe a bit early ;-)

        • L33t4opera

Never too early for happy birthday, and good party :-)

        • Mateusz Madej

Just in case i miss this later

    • Onaj Tamo

Happy birthday.I certainly hope we het at least a developer version until then.

      • blackcoder

As one of the developers said “Don’t expect anything before march” I guess there is a chance to see a developer build for Linux on his birthday. :)

        • Leonardo Gomes

Yep, but we can’t forget the “at least “.

        • Onaj Tamo

          yeah I know.

  • ahoj1234

OK guys… It was a looong time so let me point out some things:
    – net installer SHOULD remember where (and how) it install/update last time. (I can not update by “update” so I just use the netinstaller for it and every single time I have to change the destination even it’s still the same as for the very first time…)

    – “last closed tabs” = it’s still a “hidden” option in Omenu… I’m waiting for put it out there… Anyway, it’s has started a few dev builds ago (2-3?) where if I have closed a bunch of tabs (+- 50) it scrolls itself – it’s tracking my mouse cursor and it’s hard to (re)open the tab I want.

thanks for your attention and now let me rest again… School and business are eating a lot of my time nowadays… I’ll be active here once again in a few months (at least I hope).

    • Mateusz Madej

About last closed tabs: It is know and we’re already working on solution.
About net installer i’ll try to get eedback on this if that is the case, it will be fixed

      • ahoj1234

Thanks. As I mentioned I’m not (that) active nowadays so It’s good that you already know about it :)

About the netinstaller: I use it for updating the portable version (located on my PC – not USB stick or elsewhere) but still I think that it could/should remember…

        • Mateusz Madej

The problem (rather a good feature) with USB install is that it is ‘clean’, meaning that it leaves no traces whatsoever in the system. This is why we’re not remembering it.

          • ahoj1234

well, I get it (that’s why I use USB install). anyway, you don’t have to track anything in system… I do not want track installed opera’s version… but “last folder where the installer install”. – that could be provided in netinstaller (save the info there). Anyway, thanks :)

          • Mateusz Madej

I will talk about this with people responsible for installer. It’s always worth discussing.

          • Emanuele

I don’t agree at all… a Portable install should be exactly as it is, with no trace of it on the system…. if you add that string you’re leaving traces and this is wrong

And however this is senseless too, because if you install it (as it’s intended) on a USB pen drive that will be used everywhere in the world and not only on that system, why it should store that useless information? … the next time you could update that installation from another PC, or the drive letter could be another one, and so on…

To me it’s an absolute no :)

  • Ralf Brinkmann

    Extensions popup is fixed (Yay!)
    Yay here too! Thanks!

    • Ice007

Ja — wieso auch nicht? Wenns generell gefixt, dann auch bei Dir.
      Nothing important to report!

    • Mateusz Madej

Deleted the reply. Please act according to rules of this blog. English language only.

  • vinczej

Extension window is OK, so I can use the newest build again!

  • phi2x

    Opera, that’s truely embarrassing:
    http://cpcbox.com/bench.htm
    http://cpcbox.com/blink-bug.htm

    • http://christoph142.wordpress.com/ Christoph142

Well, might be bugs, but I can’t spot anything embarrassing.
If you want them to get fixed report them at https://code.google.com/p/chromium/
But I guess you did that already…

    • http://www.cpcwiki.eu/ Gryzor

Ah, you’re here :) Yeah, still to bad…

  • Your Name

Thanks, but please wake me up at at version 300…

    • https://www.aeyoun.com/ Daniel Aleksandersen

If we keep the current release cycle, you can set your alarm clock for about 34 years.

I may not remember to wake you.

      • Your Name

Oh, well… It’s not like something really noticeable would happen to your browser until then, now is it?

        • Ice007

Then how about this: You lie down until version 300 and then you continue to write clever comments?

      • senna_4ever

        ahahahah nice one

      • L33t4opera
  • Wibby

    YESYESYES HUZZAH!

  • Matt Humphrey

when can I add a default search engine, and why do you guys keep ignoring me?

    • https://www.aeyoun.com/ Daniel Aleksandersen

This have been answered multiple times before. Setting a custom search engine as default have been temporarily disabled. Third-party applications found a way to hijack the user-setting to redirect searches to malicious sites. The feature will return when we can secure that the user’s setting is not overwritten by other programs.

By the by, this was your first comment on the Disqus network. How can you say we are ignoring you?

  • http://www.cpcwiki.eu/ Gryzor

    Ooof!!!! :)

  • http://www.lalaurette.com.ar/ Sebastián Lalaurette

    “Extensions popup is fixed (Yay!)”

    THANK GOD.

And thank you all, guys, for the continuous improvement of this free product. Opera is slowly getting to its former glory… with great site and extension compatibility thrown into the mix…

  • naranj

hi, where i can find the cloud of opera link in win xp?

    • http://lemcgregor3.wordpress.com/ Léon McGregor

You need to go to: opera://flags/#sync, and enable it if it’s not already enabled. Then restart opera, then if you go to your settings there should be an option to log in to syncronise.

      • naranj

I try to log in and the test server not responding but many thanks leon :)

        • Leonardo Gomes

Disable the use of test servers on opera:flags.

          • Guest

I had activated from beginning but anyway not responding

          • naranj

            that worked! gracias leonardo

  • RX-3200

please turn off auto scrolling in the right-button context menu search
it makes it difficult to use the top of them, if you have more search engines than fit in the screen

  • kapsi

Can I change the Polish wikipedia search to English one?

    • Dmitry Kirin

You can’t re-define the default keyword “w” for Wikipedia. But you can add another search engine. For example, I added “we” for English Wiki. Actually, I almost never use the default one, so I’ve already got used to typing “we …”.

However, just adding a custom search engine does not enable the fast search capability, a live drop-down list of suggestions while you type a search text in address bar. There is a field in the database to hold that query, but it’s not accessible from GUI. I modified the field directly and the feature is working for me, but it’s not a way for normal users. :)

Opera, I might have already asked this, could you please consider adding that field to search engine edit dialog? (low priority)

      • kapsi

        >There is a field in the database to hold that query, but it’s not accessible from GUI. I modified the field directly and the feature is working for me, but it’s not a way for normal users. :)
I edited the JSON file but it made all the searches except Google disappear.

        • Dmitry Kirin

The file default_partner_content.json is protected, you shouldn’t edit it. To work with custom search engines, use GUI or, if you take the risk, the database Web Data.

          • kapsi

Ok thanks, I used “Sqlite Browser”.

    • gekitsu

      this! super annoying.

if we cant redefine the badly implemented defaults (which is bad enough…), i suggest letting us configure them with a few preset options.

      – for services that can target localised versions of a provider, let us choose which one, with auto-choose as default.
      – for services we do not want for whatever reason, let us disable them completely. it bears repeating: a browser that comes with google search presets and does not let me remove them, is not a browser fit for use. this is non-negotiable.

  • Vux777

can we use same cache folder for different Opera versions and channels, so that they mutually benefit from it, or those cached files are somehow “locked” to specific version that saved them?

    • https://www.aeyoun.com/ Daniel Aleksandersen

You would need a local proxy cache (aka. “web accelerator”) if you want multiple browsers to benefit from the same local cache.

      • Vux777

        thanx
I’ll try it if it’s not to much of the hassle

  • Vux777

I’m getting sometimes “UNKNOWN_TYPE” for input fields, on Google translate or this page

this is how it looks like

  • senna_4ever

thank you for fixing this annoying bug :)

  • Bjarne Bertelsen

Sync for bookmarks would be nice, I really miss it. And import/export of bookmarks.
In Safari you can export a page as PDF. That would also be really nice.

    • https://myspace.com/bluezzbastardzz Hans-Jürgen Bardenhagen

Importing old v12.x bookmarks is possible with “More Tools”. For bookmarks from other browsers you can link to the exported HTML file and add it to the bookmarks bar.

  • SLR

I can’t middle click scroll if the mouse cursor is hovering above disqus comments.

    • Vux777

      it affects all chromiums
but in old O-Presto it is possible to MM-scroll on Disqus area

  • Martin

Opening a new tab, window or private window from the taskbar does not work for me. Gives me an unspecified error

    • Leonardo Gomes

      Works fine here.

      Win 8.1 if it matters.

    • blackcoder

      No problem here.

      Windows 8.1

    • Martin

Icons are not working as well. This is on windows 7

      • Carson Coyote

I have these same problems, but with Opera 19 stable.

        Windows 7 SP1 x64

  • syncopera

Please, can Opera switch speed dials thumbnails in only text? Alphabetically ordered? And the possibility to create subdrawers? Please, please, please!

    • https://myspace.com/bluezzbastardzz Hans-Jürgen Bardenhagen

Sounds like you are asking for the bookmarks bar which is available since v19.

      • andluc melive

mmmh I have dozen bookmarks and the bookmarks bar is… small, very small, too small

        • https://myspace.com/bluezzbastardzz Hans-Jürgen Bardenhagen

But you could create new folders there and sort the single bookmarks to them, so you would have a bookmarks bar with several dropdown folders that open when you hover them. It’s not perfect, but better than nothing in my opinion. Affords to get used to the look, but on an old 4:3 screen it does not take away too much vertical space.

          • andluc melive

Opera 12 had a button, placeable in the address bar for example.
The bookmarks appears in a menu when I click it…
            Small…
But the address bar it’s ok too. I hope in the near future is possible to syncronize them like the old bookmarks.
            Thank you

          • Vux777

Opera 12 had a button, placeable in the address bar for example.
The bookmarks appears in a menu when I click it…
            Small…

There is a many extensions for that kinda behavior.
Neatar Bookmarks is one of them. I know extensions sucks, but if you need it….
I started to use bookmarks bar, and for now I’m satisfied with it. (quick access bar was crap)

  • Farhan Rashid

memory usage is very high when I use flash player plugin. any solution or fixes?

    • Leonardo Gomes

Any examples of pages where it happens.

On Youtube videos the memory usage seems adequate for me.

      • Farhan Rashid

it happens when I stay on a tab for long time
for eg http://www.facebook.com... memory usage went upto 500MB with flash
without flash its stays under 200MB

        • Leonardo Gomes

Do you have plugins set to “click to play”? I think it may help reducing memory usage.

FB is using ~125MB here but i don’t have many flash on my timeline.

  • Vux777

about this awful commenting system called Disqus

    – THIS simple page (article about newest dev) with a little text, one or two images and Disqus comments is using 3-4 times more memory than front pages of sites like TechCrunch, ExtremeTech, Gizmag or Jutarnji.hr (~1.8X) that are full of media. …Disqus is culprid ofc.

-When following link from email notifications or dashboard, only comments to that point of time are visible in particular thread, and ppl (including me) repeating stuff already someone said, simple because we don’t see all of the comments.

-pasting something into Disqus comment box is making unnecessary empty lines for every paragraph (or sentence)…annoying like hell

-quote tags don’t work…(silly for commenting system)…I’m usually using Italic text

-it tries to be intelligent with drag-drop, and in fact, it just makes things worst

-Font cannot be customized from users with CSS, because smart ppl from Disqus decided that it should be rendered on their servers, and it is very small

…there is many other annoying things with it…so pls can you reconsider using Disqus on your blogs

    • Dmitry Kirin

True. Empty lines inserted every time I paste text are annoying, as well as notification links which never point correctly. :)

As for the overall commenting capabilities, Disqus seems to me enough for this purpose: to enable fast exchange. All that we write here is not intended to be useful forever. After a couple of weeks, it becomes obsolete. If they delete all pictures attached, contexts will be broken, but that won’t hurt much. It’s not a knowledge base, it’s just chat. It’s the same reason why it’s pointless to request math formula input capability in Facebook comments. If it’s a question of Opera developers’ work, they’d better work on the browser than a richer commenting system. :)

      • Vux777

there are useful tips&trick, eg. huge amount of users still don’t know how to import bookmarks into opera

        • Dmitry Kirin

Yes, there is quite useful information, but looking at how often the same questions are asked, I doubt that many people do search in here. Knowledge base is a different format, I hope that Opera help online will someday cover those topics.

BTW, the search feature shows topics, not fragments of text matching the search criteria. This makes searching difficult. I don’t know if it’s a Disqus thing or not, though.

    • Leonardo Gomes

      Some “issues” that bothers me:

      – The link on the comments feed/rss doesn’t lead you to the comment;

      – It’s note easy to find out new comments (including replies) since last visit;

      – No ignore/block/mute/whatever option;

      – Deleted comments appears as “Guest” comments;

      – The option to report a comment is too simple and you don’t even have a way to tell the reason for why you think it’s inappropriate.

    • http://twitter.com/rluik Rafael Luik

      • Vux777

        thx

  • pureocean

İs added to show full URL adress and
copy URL protocol prefix together to clipboard after pressed CTRL X?

    • Leonardo Gomes

Option to show full url is coming but there is no ETA yet.

  • dflyra

at last! all extensions work again – i went back from next to developer!

  • http://www.cpcwiki.eu/ Gryzor

Anyone has an issue with syncing? I’m using Opera on my PC and laptop, and Speed Dial sites are not synced between them… strange and frustrating. I’m not using test servers…

    • Leonardo Gomes

I’ve just done a little test here and everything seems ok.

      • http://www.cpcwiki.eu/ Gryzor

Definitely not working for me. Really weird… Is there any way to debug this?

        • Dmitry Kirin

There can be something weird with the implementation of two-way sync. For example, deleting favorites.db and its journal from Dev profile removes all SD. Right after that, Sync does not bring them back. But Sync in another Opera (Next) uploads them to the cloud or marks them as newly synchronised, and after that, Sync in Dev restores them.

          • http://www.cpcwiki.eu/ Gryzor

Thanks for the instructions, will keep it in mind if I run into issues again!

        • Leonardo Gomes

          Hmm, don’t know.

I’ve tested on the same computer using two different versions of Opera (Developer and Stable), not sure if it would matters.

I added a SD item on Developer 20 and then opened Stable 19 and, after a few moments, the SD item was there. Then i deleted the item on Stable and it disappeared from Developer 20.

          • http://www.cpcwiki.eu/ Gryzor

Appeared to be a glitch; today I opened my desktop browser and it was immediately populated with the changes. So all’s ok :)

  • Inquisitor

This website is not rendered correctly in Opera 20:

    http://www.michiel-hanot.be/nl/Welkom

    • http://lemcgregor3.wordpress.com/ Léon McGregor

It looks fine to me. Do you have a screenshot?

      • Inquisitor

I added a screenshot with my first post; don’t know if you can see it (I can); Disqus is being awkward again… :(

        • http://lemcgregor3.wordpress.com/ Léon McGregor

I’m not seeing anything like that on the fonts in my browser. I’m not sure what might be causing it.

        • blackcoder

          Looks fine here, too.

        • Ralf Brinkmann

Also here it looks ok and the same as in Google Chrome. But in your screenshot it looks as if you simply changed the font size: opera://settings/fonts. And you blocked social media icons.

          • Inquisitor

Thanks, the font issue is solved by changing the font size, but I don’t know why the Facebook icon doesn’t show. It shows on other websites without fail.

        • Vux777

          looks ok to me

Confirmed: there is something slightly wrong with rendering. Look at how the Google+ section is rendered on this page (see the picture). The last letter of “Opera” is not rendered. It’s probably done with a script, but then it means the same script works under different conditions on the same page, or receives different boundary measurements when determining how to cut the title text.
I’ve got 125% Windows font scaling and 125% default zoom in the browsers (120% in O12). The way the page is rendered persists upon zoom-in and zoom-out. The way O15+ shows “Oper…” has been around for quite a long time now, I think I’ve already written about it.
Edit: Font sizes in settings are default, only the overall default zoom is 125%.

      • Inquisitor

I had to fiddle a lot with fonts and sizes to get it finally the way O20 looks correct for me.

        • Dmitry Kirin

Those separate font settings for Serif, Sans Serif, and fixed-width fonts are a mess. Changing them turns pages to something their authors might not have ever wanted, and there’s no back-to-default button. That’s why I prefer to only set zoom level. It’s great that it scales pages entirely, even though with the slight discrepancy between browsers. What’s surprising is that Chrome shows that G+ webpart a bit different from the Chromium Opera…

  • netmain

thanks for the new build, I was finally able to upgrade to the last dev build
I have a very annoying bug though, I didn’t see it reported here, maybe it’s a “chromium bug”!
when Opera starts loading a page, and at the very begining, it shows instead of a blank page or even the speed dial, it shows the last plugin loaded, if your last plugin was a pdf document, it will show you the document everytime you load a new page, just for few seconds and then the page load correctly, same thing goes to flash videos, or flash and java games.

the only solution is to empty the cache every few minutes !

  • Inquisitor

Is it possible to change the way links are represented in O20? At the moment, they’re a different color ànd underlined, while in O12, I have them set to just a different color, which makes a page look less ‘busy’ and easier to read:

    example:

    • Vux777

not from Opera settings, but you can make global CSS rules with the extensions like Stylebot

      • Inquisitor

Awesome. Works like a charm! Thanks!

  • Sync Originals

PITY !!! Still many many updates and SIMPLE CORE Audio still not playing. Ex: http://syncoriginals.com

  • Sync Originals

Pity pity! Still a simple simple audio bugs still lives in all the updates. Ex. Music not playing at http://syncoriginals.com. Ah BTW, try not deleting my post, I am a loyal customer for years now. Just fix it.

    • Ralf Brinkmann

      Confirmed again! W7x64.

    • Leonardo Gomes

Ok, problem confirmed (again, i think) but please try to avoid posting three times in a row about your pet bug.

Also, keep commenting many times about it will not make it be solved faster. When they have a fix for it, they will release it.

Btw, did you report the bug on the BTS?

      • Sync Originals

Appreciate your input, I believe you are working for Opera in Brazil right? If that is the case, would you to us a favor,. ask them to find a “less spammy” system than Discus. On your other note; No I do not have time to report anything over elsewhere. What I have done is report here the same bug over and over again in all versions launched. Good enough for Opera ( my help ) or shall I try harder.

        • Leonardo Gomes

Nope, i don’t work for Opera. I’m a regular user just you and all others.

    • Mateusz Madej

What codec is used to decode music on this page? Also, please stop spamming

      • Sync Originals

not sure we are the company running, we did not build the software, 1 thing is for sure Chrome/Canary/Maxthron/Yandex… all work. BTW was not spanning just another victim of Mr. Discus ( your choice ) :). Thanks for FINALLY look into it.

  • Sync Originals

Pity you guys are deleting my post pointing out an OLD bug with Audio not playing at out site Sync Originals . com. Never thought one would be that rude seen we posted that other times and even have quite a few “votes” on the issue. Making a screenshoot of this one.

    • http://www.lalaurette.com.ar/ Sebastián Lalaurette

I see three posts by you complaining about the same thing. Either they are not deleting your comments, or they should delete a couple more and leave just one. ;)

      • Sync Originals

        HI Sebastian,
I am sorry to point out that you are wrong. Our site works on Chrome/Chorme Canary/Maxthron/Yandex and jsut about any other browser under the sun, As for my comments been replicated, I guess you should also look around the posts on different versions released here to noticed that the DISCUS system was rather a bad choice for Opera, i.e not alone on thinking that. Good day

        • http://www.lalaurette.com.ar/ Sebastián Lalaurette

I never said Disqus was good. I only pointed out that maybe nobody’s deleting your comments. As to the main point, when I played the music on your site in Chrome, at first it was silent; then I tried again and there was sound. Maybe there is something that happens when you select a particular artist, which is what I did at first.

  • al_ghul

I would like to have visible bookmarks addresses on the lower-left, when navigate through bookmarks bar menu – when pointing them with mouse. I’d like to know to which address they take me (same as when pointing with cursor at links/addresses in text on page).

I’d like also to have a possibility of making folders in bookmarks subfolders through bookmarks bar menu.

  • fliker

And what with DNA-8944? When you introduce the full URL? I think that it is not so hard to code.

    • Leonardo Gomes

      Hmm, when it’s ready?

      • fliker

        Thank you Captain Obvious.

  • guest6768

Installed just for ***** sake. Boy what a mess (still).

Things that need to be fixed for the interface etc..:

    1. Speed Dial Folder -> right click, menu -> unload all items
    2. Speed Dial Folder -> double click on it should open all items (I know already of Ctrl & click, don’t tell me)
    3. Speed Dial Folder -> change grey color, it is ugly.
    4. Discover -> right click, menu -> disable/enable
    6. Discover -> More European countries.
    7. Huge Google Banner -> right click, menu -> customize search engine
    8. Right click on empty speed dial -> customize
    9. Stash -> customize items
    10. Ghostery doesn’t work on speed dial contrary to Opera 12. (help the author fix it)

    • Nekomajin42

Discover is totally useless in this form. It looks nice, but ehat is the point of preselected content? However, it would be a great RSS reader. Even with preinstalled (but removable) feeds.

      6. You can hide in the settings. Type konami code on the settings page. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Konami_code

      10. +/-/* works if you enable advanced shotcuts in the settings.

      The others: +1

“9. Arrow for reopening closed tabs like in Opera 12. Three moves like as it is now is bad design.”

      Says who?

You can’t possibly put EVERYTHING at one click of distance, especially in a program as complex as a Web browser. You want your tab trashcan in the buttonbar? Well, I want my site preferences, offline mode toggle, bookmark bar toggle, loading/unloading of images, print button, general preferences button, search field, etc. in the bar as well. Not doing it is bad design!

      Please.

      • guest6768

It is bad design when you need 3 moves for something that they ‘ve already solved in O12 with 2. Remember they speak about simplicity, linearity, ergonomy. You ‘re welcome.

      • Nekomajin42

I have 15 button on the address bar in O12. Do you know why? Because it is possible to add/remove buttons to customize the GUI.

        • http://www.lalaurette.com.ar/ Sebastián Lalaurette

Yeah, why not 30? Let’s put a button by default for EVERYTHING. I want a browser where I can get anywhere with just one click, because opening a menu is so hard. In fact, let’s put a button for every site on the Web. Then nobody will even complain again about the bookmark bar.

          • guest6768

I can only laugh with your trolling. You are such an ignorant fanboi that even if they would bring out a gold coated turd you would believe it is a gold bar.

          • http://www.lalaurette.com.ar/ Sebastián Lalaurette

Yeah, let’s implement a “gold coating” button as well. One click! Just one click!!!!!!!111111111111one

          • Nekomajin42

It’s your bad, if you didn’t use the power of the old Opera, but debating someone who did is not a wise idea.

          • http://www.lalaurette.com.ar/ Sebastián Lalaurette

Oh no! I used the power of Opera 12 indeed. I had a combined mail button, a session button, and a system in place to backup and restore different sets of bookmarks and sessions. I miss all those things (partly, because I still have two Opera 12 installations for different purposes). But here people are not really asking for all that power to come back… they want to force everyone to have a particular button that replicates something Opera 19 already has and that is accessible with just one click and a squiggle of the mouse.

But I don’t know why I always end up answering your comments. You ALWAYS miss the point.

          • Nekomajin42

You are right about that everyone wants his/her favourite function back, but the devs can end this with allowing more GUI customisation. Instead they keep repeating to use extensions, or already existing, but really uncomfortable solutions.
The point is lots of us were patient in the past half year, but this patience is not endless. We have a neat browser, and it’s time to give something to the power-users too. Personally, I don’t want to leave Opera, because this new versions have a nice feel, but in this state of developement, it is useless.
But the solution is not magic. Start implementing comfortable features, make them optional, and everyone will be happy. And we won’t have to debate who misses the point. Instead, we will be able to use a good browser.

          • Emanuele

and never forget…. QT are so limited :P

            lol

          • http://www.lalaurette.com.ar/ Sebastián Lalaurette

And always forget… to ignore your comments. Which is what I do, as with Neko above.

        • http://lemcgregor3.wordpress.com/ Léon McGregor

See, that’s the neat thing about old opera. You can do whatever you want. Contrary to what you did, I just removed basically every button from the main tab bar/address bar and placed them onto the panels bar instead.

          I miss panels.

    • Vux777

      1. what is “unload all items”? If you want to delete them, just right click on folder and delete it
      2. and how would you open folder with single click? Should browser wait for your double click about half of second to see if you gonna do it or not?

      9. right click tabs and choose “reopen last closed…” something like that, I have different language. I’ts one click for fast recovery (you can repeat that process for “I don’t know how much” closed tabs).
If you need more back in history, then there is a list on O-menu or browser history.

      • guest6768

        1. Unload as unput. You put some items in the folder and you can bring them back to the speed dial, not delete them. Doing it one by one is unproductive, extremely slow and nerve-braking.
        2. That is not a problem, it can be programmed. How do shortcuts in windows OS work with double click? They can do it also with middle mouse click.
        9. “If you need more back in history, then there is a list on O-menu or browser history.” That is what I’m describing, you need 3 moves to do it. In O12 you can just select it from the arrow (2 moves)

        • Vux777

-and how many times per session or per day you gonna “unload” your speed dials from folder?
When you do it once, they gonna stay that way for longer… unless you have OCD

-shortcuts in Windows work (usually) in the way that one click selects them, double click opens them. That is very different from functionality you want, that double click opens all items in folder.
What would be the main/left click?
Everything can be programmed, but not everything is needed…
there is a right click >> open all or ctrl+click

-restoring accidentally closed tabs is not something that most users need every 5 min while surfing. There is a fast recovery on right click, and for larger list there is a menu…again, not something that is necessary to have on UI

          • http://www.lalaurette.com.ar/ Sebastián Lalaurette

Indeed! This guy has spent more time writing his complaint than what he’ll spend in clicking menu/”Recently closed” for the rest of his life.

          • guest6768

Congratulations, you ‘ve won today’s king of trolls award.

          • http://www.lalaurette.com.ar/ Sebastián Lalaurette

Yeah, of course I’m the troll, not the one who comes here with the passive aggressive attitude and the long list of features the devs have to implement to satisfy all his petty needs.

          • guest6768

Indeed you are when to constructive criticism you respond with the way you only know to. Please continue to embarrass yourself like in a few posts below…

          • ayespy

Hm. Disagree. An inbuilt UI feature that provided one-click access to closed tabs would be good. Three moves is not the end of the world, but I personally hate ANYTHING that requires three moves. One or two. That’s the ticket.

          • http://www.lalaurette.com.ar/ Sebastián Lalaurette

But we have both. Opera->Recently closed->your tab only requires one click (two, if you count the click on the tab itself, which would also be required if it was a button in the toolbar). So, the only difference is the need to make a slight motion of the mouse. Negligible, and not worth all that’s been written about it.

          • Vux777

don’t forget that there is a “reopen last …. ” if you right click on tabs for fast accidental recovery…
Like Sebastian said, compare presto and blink last closed

instead of list on first level, in Opera blink it’s on second (menu under menu)
it’s really not worth to have it exclusively on UI

          • guest6768

I know how shortcuts work in Windows dude, it was a rhetorical question… As for the other things you are writing… there is no point repeating myself if you don’t understand the need of them. Like the small arrow near the Close button that for you is not necessary…. ooook.

          • Vux777

well, you obviously don’t, dude… otherwise you wouldn’t compare them to your idea that double click on speed dial folder should open all items

  • Dark Magician

Have Opera open, Open Private window.
Now close Opera, then close Private window.
Start Opera again, all tabs are lost. Starts with an empty page.

Nothing happening here with this build.

I was really afraid of this bug, because I also lost all my open tabs once. But with this build (20.0.1387.16) this problem is gone under W7x64.

Since I was one of the ones requesting it ( http://blogs.opera.com/desktop/2013/12/another-opera-18-stable-update/#comment-1171233834 ), I just want to say THANK YOU to all the developers for including (beginning with changelog20) the release date and the hyperlink to the blog post for each new release next to the version number in the changelog ( http://blogs.opera.com/desktop/changelog20/ )

I encountered a bug that I havent yet found a way to fix: like you’re scrolling through your facebook news feed and click on a photo then you click anywhere in the black area/the close button to quit the photo/video viewing mode then the facebook feed automatically jump to its top. Really annoying.
Usually some days before this only happened when I tweaked something in opera://flags (Haven’t figured out which one), in that case i would just reset all flags to its default state and problems solved but now while everything was working normally this bug popped out of nowhere again and resetting no longer works.

  • Edoc

after a format I decided to give it another try to developer build, but still, with a more than clean install (clean SO installation), the address field still doesn’t wanna copy the damn protocol.. every time I paste an URL, I have to add “http://” so people can click it..

Can you PLEASE make it so we can turn OFF auto update???? It keeps popping up to update and has caused me to loose things that I was working on. If this continues I will have no choice but to find another.

The extensions for Opera have to undergo very strict security policy tests. This is why the process is taking some time. We’re not about to let anyone install harmful scripts on your PC through Opera.
