Meet Opera’s Desktop team
Did you know that Opera’s Desktop team is now bigger than ever? Or, that Opera for Mac is being developed in the French Riviera? Meet the engineers behind Opera for computers and learn a few interesting facts about them.
Opera Desktop team by the numbers
There are almost 90 people (and counting) working on Opera for Windows, Mac and Linux.
Half of the team is located in our Poland office, 26 members work in Norway, while others work in Russia India, and France.
Opera is not an ordinary company, where all job is done within the four corners of one of our official offices. Part of of our Linux team works remotely from Nice in the French Riviera. What better place is there to be inspired and get things done?
A multicultural team
The Opera browser is used by millions of people around the world, and the Desktop team reflects this diversity. Engineers from 17 countries develop Opera for computers, making it just about the most diverse team at Opera.
The secret of the Desktop team is that it has no boss. There are different sections responsible for engineering, design and strategy; cooperation across this triangle makes the development flawless and more efficient. And, it gives more room for great ideas to be introduced and developed.
The engineering section is led by Adam Minchinton, working at Opera’s HQ in Oslo.
Tami Weiss, also working from Oslo, manages the design team, which works on visual bookmarks, Speed Dial and the other features that add to the overall look of Opera for computers.
Zhenis Beisekov, located in Poland, defines the strategy and requirements for the product.
Other smart people, like Błażej Kaźmierczak, make sure we monitor Opera’s usage trends and reflect them in our browser.
If you want to find the entire list of people involved in the development of Opera computers, you can actually find it in… your browser. Let’s see if you can discover where.
