Opera Air greeted with love from users and media alike

We wanted to share some of the great feedback we got after launching Opera Air, the first mindful browser.

The world can be stressful out there, but according to PCWorld’s Mark Hachmann, “Opera may have the right product at the right time: Opera Air, a free web browser that was actively designed to help de-stress and calm you as you navigate the web.”

Showcasing minimalist design and the built-in mindfulness features Boosts and Take a Break, Opera Air integrates calming, research-backed tools into your daily browsing habits.

It’s been just over a month, but ever since we launched Opera Air we’ve been seeing comments like Mark’s from both the journalists and new users alike. We’re delighted with such positive feedback, and wanted to share some of the buzz as our new browser bucks the trend of speed and productivity, and invites you to – literally – take a deep breath and focus on your emotional and mental wellness.

A pinch of positivity across the media

We’re thrilled to see that the launch of Opera Air has sparked a conversation about mental well-being and mindfulness around our digital lives – that’s precisely what we’re aiming for! In a time where the internet can feel so chaotic and overwhelming, we can tell that we’re addressing a real need when we read quotes like the following:

  • “I enjoy having the option to take mindful breaks when needed and to listen to binaural beats for motivation. I haven’t switched back to the browser I used before Opera Air, and I don’t intend to.” – Renée Onque, CNBC
  • “The Air-ification of web browsing just put it one step ahead of using Google Chrome for me.” – Jason England, Tom’s Guide.
  • “Maybe it’s just that Opera Air offers something different in a world of ultra-productivity-focused browsers and workspaces, but I was actually focused while using Opera’s new browser. I enjoyed the variety of Boosts available, and while your mileage will vary, they definitely have a positive effect on me.” – Gavin Phillips, MakeUseOf.
  • “After maybe 10 minutes, I’d seen enough to know that Opera Air is definitely staying installed on my PC and that I’ll be ditching Chrome as my personal browser.” – Stephen Warwick, Techradar
  • “I like to meditate and I like to surf the web. But I never thought about combining the two – until now. That’s because Opera has released a new browser called Opera Air, which tries to help you become more mindful as you use the web.” – Lance Whitney, ZDnet

That’s just some of the great feedback we got from members of the media, whose overwhelming praise helped make this launch such a success. But what’s everyone else saying?

Spreading mindfulness through social media

It’s been a wholesome experience to see how you, our new converts to Opera Air, have taken your positive feedback and shared it with us via social media. Let’s look at some examples:

Fortunately, as Tom recognizes, it doesn’t have to be all productivity!. We believe that it’s important to take a break and be mindful of your well-being at all times – even while browsing.

Some of you, like Seth, have been enjoying the different features that Opera Air introduces into the browsing space. We’re happy to provide a platform that we all use every day – a super app, the web browser – that lets you hop right into meditation sessions or soothing tracks featuring binaural beats right from the sidebar. We believe this democratizes mindfulness practices and makes them more readily available than ever.

Others out there have enjoyed the simplicity and freshness that comes with Opera Air’s design – like Snocu, who remarked upon how Norwegian-like the browser’s interface is. We’ll take this as a compliment, Snocu!

We’ve also gotten a ton of useful feedback from your side on how to improve Opera Air, and we’re already using it to design new updates and features. For example, we’ve already rolled out an update that features new voice guide and subtitle options for the Take a Break exercises, plus a progress indicator. So thank you so much for taking the time to share your thoughts – we genuinely take them on board as we try to make Opera Air more mindful than ever.
