Problems with saving PDF documents. I save the PDF document, but when I try to open it, some program gives an error

    • Kornelia

What error and how do you open the document?

      • Артем Виноградов

        Can not open this file.
There was a problem with the file format.
Download through Opera, and open the regular program Windows 8.1.
If I download the same file with the browser Vivaldi or Google Chrome, then the regular program opens this file without problems.

        • Kornelia

This is a site specific problem. Other files on this site (even Help) cannot be opened. Try opening pdf files from other sources and it’s probably ok. If not – let me know.

New term: “weekly Stable update”. lol
Since when Stable need a weekly update? This thing getting ridiculous…

    • Deo et Patriae

Can you elaborate? What exactly is ridiculous? The update process is so seamless, you don’t even notice. Why is so bad to get crash fixes as fast as possible?

      • senja1

Releasing “Stable” update that need so many fixes, on weekly basis updates is ridiculous. When I need to explain this, ask yourself…

Alert box blurry on Hi-DPI monitor(Windows) still not fixed

  • Jack Spider

The update deleted my speed dial settings. Thankfully, the bookmarks were left untouched. Also, no more VPN in the address bar, as no more option to turn the VPN on the Security section of the Settings. No way to select the coding in which to display a particular page. No way to import/export bookmarks and speed dial setting to a file, thus no way to back them up. I have resisted switching to another browser for a long time – I guess, since the Notes were removed -, but my patience has reached its end. Starting looking for another browser. Opera sure knows how to alienate its users.

And no way to whitelist sites for the ad blocker.

    Kanał aktualizacji: Stable
    System: Windows 10 64-bit (WoW64)

Dlaczego pokazuje mi wersję 46.0.2597.26314 a nie 46.0.2597.57?

    • Kornelia

Unfortunately autoupdate will not work in your case. We decided users affected by this was too small to introduce big version bump to have them updated immediately. You can manually install new version over your existing installation to work around this instead of waiting for O47 to go Stable.

  • Why is the bookmark menu popup still not fixed?
Ever since the first 46 stable release it is not working correctly.

    46.0.2597.26314 Where is the update?

  • Alexander Chernig0v

In the version of Opera 46.0.2597.57 Stable (there are no such problems until only version 44 inclusive), the problem when opening the browser for a fraction of seconds is displayed by the theme of Windows (who has a light then just a transparent screen for a fraction of a second), lags on flash games and YouTube, when scrolling there is no smoothness. When VPN enabled, the size of a target file on a server is not known, Opera displays only “?”. This sometimes results in incomplete downloads, incorrectly marked by Opera as “Completed”.
If you disable VPN and download the file again, the size is known.
Tested with the Opera installer files on Opera ftp server (https://ftp.opera.com/).

Promlem with “always loading” and freezes on some sites still exists. E.g. rbc.ru, problem with some ads in top of screen (change it by F5). Problem on this video https://youtu.be/Tp5qs2nCHtA
Opera always restart one of its process.

Addition: if click “show source code” (ctrl+shift+c) on this page with problem ad, you’ll see constantly increasing counter “XXX items hidden by filters”

  • Looks great. But im using 47beta already.

Switching VPN button Off still randomly crashes (freezes) Opera.

  • Gator5000e

Anytime I try to access a site that has Google Maps embedded or used somehow, the browser window basically becomes non-responsive and unusable. An example is when I click on a listing in Zillow.com. Or today, I tried to schedule an appointment for a repair at a local Apple store. The site gives you a list of places where you can take the phone. It loads Google maps in the background showing where each location is on the map. The entire window become unresponsive and I was unable to pick the store I wanted to schedule the appointment. I had to change to Edge and recreate the whole process. I was able to schedule the appointment using Edge.

This never happened in version 45. Please fix this as I really enjoy Opera. But this will be a game changer is it’s not corrected soon and I will have to go to a different browser.

  • Jack Spider

Kornelia, can you please tell what’s wrong with the VPN in the latest Opera version?
It has disappeared in the latest update in my browser.
In the address bar, there is no icon to turn the VPN on/off, but only a lock icon with “Page information” label when hovering the cursor over it.

Also, there is no option to turn the VPN on/on in the Privacy and security section of the Settings. There is only check box “Block ads and surf the web up to three times faster” and button “Clear browsing data” in this section.

It is OK in Win7/32, same Opera version. Try to reinstall.

      • Jack Spider

Is 32 the Windows version or Opera’s? Reinstall what, Windows (I have Win7/64 installed) or install 32-bit Opera instead of 64-bit (which is currently installed)?

        • redfox

32 Win+Opera. Try to reboot, and if the problem persists, uninstall Opera and install it again.
You can also restore an older profile files from a backup, if you have some.

          • Jack Spider

What does “32 Win+Opera” mean? 32-bit Windows? I should tear down my 64-bit Windows setup and install the 32-bit one just to get Opera VPN working?! But never mind, it’s irrelevant. I’m asking Opera support team what’s the matter with my current setup, and not asking anyone’s advice on how to get me VPN by any means. I have 44th Opera running on a Linux machine and it does have VPN. So, should I install Linux on this one too? It would seem so, judging from your logic. I mean, I don’t feel like fooling around with all types of setups, but want an answer from the Opera Support what’s wrong with my current setup.

          • Hans Hansen

You obviously don’t want to get helped by anyone. Everyone will give you the same advice (like I already did). Just try to reinstall Opera with a clean profile. I already told you to do so. If you don’t know how to do it, ask! If you don’t bother to try it, no one can help you. It is not rocket science to reinstall software!

          • Jack Spider

Alright, helper. What is 32 Win + Opera?

          • Hans Hansen

He just said that HE(!) uses a 32-bit operating system (in his case Windows 7 32-bit) and consequently the 32-bit Opera. It was just a piece of information to tell you that Opera works flawlessly on his system (he just specified his system).
There are 32 and 64-bit operating systems. One difference is, that you only can use 3.25 GB RAM with a 32-bit operating system, so if you have more (4 GB e.g.) you have to use a 64-Bit operating system (e.g. Windows 7 64-bit – like you have). For more information have a look at this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s1WnjQpuexU
BUT: IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH YOUR PROBLEM. Your 64-bit system is fine.
He just said, that you have to uninstall Opera on your computer, and then install it again. You don’t need to reinstall Windows, just Opera. If you don’t know how to uninstall a programme on Windows 7, have a look at this video up to minute 01:20: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bxdq00Vr444
After finishing this proccess of uninstalling Opera, install Opera again by downloading and executing the setup.exe here: https://www.opera.com/en/computer/thanks?ni=stable&os=windows
When you install it, it will automatically(!) choose the 64-bit version of Opera.
If you have further questions, feel free to ask!

          • Jack Spider

            ————-
Great!!! And I said that Opera works flawlessly on my Linux machine. What use is this info for me? My setup is 64-bit Win7 and 64-bit Opera. Should I tear down my 64-bit Win7 and install 32-bit one? He just muddles up the matter with his boilerplate (at the best) unintelligible (at the worst) advices. Like try to reboot. It’s not that my comp is running around the clock. So one with the minimum logical ability should be able to gather that it has been rebooted at some point or another.
            ==============================

            ———————
Jeeeesus…. What do I need these common facts for? Obviously, if I have 64-bit Windows, I must have over 3.25 GB RAM.
            =====================
You know, if you cannot give a pertinent advise, you should not confuse the matter with all irrelevant crap.

Finally, I have solved (partially) the problem, thanks to the Opera support team. I simply installed Opera as a stand alone (USB) installation.
I say partially, because I still want to tear down all my Opera installations, including this one in the custom folder, and install it into where it’s supposed to be. I’ll see what will come out of this.

    i cant find the setting for sounds ;e;

  • Found a detect that affects Opera & all other Chromium based browsers. Hardware Acceleration when enabled to be used, is being used on GPUs that are not working do to bugs in Hardware Acceleration as Hardware Acceleration cripples the GUI of the browsers & cripples the OS. Even if the GPU has over 1GB of video ram Hardware Acceleration is still buggy

Seen on Windows & macOS in both Chrome & Opera. If I turn off Hardware Acceleration the browser GUI has no lag and the fans are not blaring.

    • Hardware Acceleration off and the GUI response is instant not a long delay or hang (lock up) of the GUI

  • TheYukster

I’m fully up to date as of 15 Sept 2017. Having trouble with the Opera button refusing to work from time to time.

That was bad enough. Now I get a total freeze of opera, completely unresponsive to anything, with a list of about 5 opera.exe in task manager. You have to kill the processes to do *anything* with the browser.

Windows 7 ultimate 32-bit, max addressable memory

    Currently, the browser is unusable.
