Hi Guys,

we’ve got a brand new Opera developer for you to check. There is a fix of a very annoying issue with opening links from external pages. We’ve also implemented cancel button in download popup. You can also test autoupdate notification (visible in Opera menu on Windows and as a notification dialog on Mac). We’ve improved stability and fixed a lot of bugs.
Chromium is upgraded to version 46.0.2486.0.

Known Issue: Flash plugin is not detectable on Mac and Linux – we will fix this in the next developer release.

fresh install doesn’t fetch favicons for sidebar extensions

    • Vux777

same for all (notes, bookmarks, stash…) that I’ve tested

      • Kornelia Mielczarczyk

        Thanks, we’ll investigate this.

      • I’ve just tested and your Stash extension still shows the favicons, even for new stashed sites (I’ve just stashed a couple), on my computer (Windows 7, 32 bits).

        • Vux777

this happens only if you do :
          -fresh install (no cached favicons)
          -import stash (or notes, bookmarks…)

usually Opera pulls non-existing favicons from net
for bookmarks and any sidebar extension if needed
but in this build this doesn’t happens
Only favicons for Bookmarks bar are downloaded
not even for all other bookmarks (if you open internal bookmarks manager)

    • Seems to be some problem with chrome://favicon/ not fetching icons properly. I’ve reported DNA-43480 for this and will try to get some follow up on this.

      • Vux777

        just for the record
I was referring to non-cached favicons that Opera pulls from outside source (O servers?!)
For bookmarks bar, Opera pulled all favicons
but not for imported links into SB extension (as I wrote before)

  • L33t4opera

Hi Kornelia, thanks for the update and fixes 😉

  • SQL

Not to be that guy complaining (which I in this case am), but that doesn’t look like a lengthy list of additions considering it’s been 2 weeks since the last build.

    • Joe438

I could be wrong, but it looks pretty lengthy to me.

      • Lacedaemon

It looks pretty normal for the after-layoffs era. Previously, (before April 20th) they’ ve been squashing 100 bugs in a week.

      • SQL

That’s 82 changelog entries for two weeks of development. That’s around 8 commits per workday. This is a company with several hundred employees. It really isn’t that much. And these were mostly bugfixes, there wasn’t a single big feature once again. (Unless you count in the Win10 UI rework)

        • master94ga

I don’t think hundred people work on opera developer… I think they are around ten.

          • Kev87

Maybe one of the devs can tell us…

  • Cryio

” (visible in Opera menu on Windows and as a notification dialog on Mac)”

So no Notifications on Windows 8 and Windows 10?

    • Wando Schneider

I think you misunderstand. It’s not tied to a version, works on windows in general.

      • SuperTommy

He means notification dialog is only mentioned for Mac.

        • Wando Schneider

          You’re right. I musinderstand 😛

  • Martin

Is it possible to re-enable the “advanced mouse gestures” flag, or move it to (advanced) settings?
Opening a tabs has become very annoying on some sites, seemingly consisting of only links 🙁

  • Joe438

Thanks for the new developer build. I’m looking forward to browsing through this week’s lengthy changelog.

  • Nekomajin43

I don’t get this update stuff in the O-menu. Why don’t you use notifications on Win too?

  • hafasd

It would be nice to have some real cookies manager. To select many cookies (with ctrl or Shift key) and then delete all of them selected at once.

    • Lacedaemon

In some alternative universe, yes. Where are native per-site preferences for example? Now you must select the domain adress without the “http://” from the address bar, then copy it, then go to settings, then click to privacy, then scroll down, then press the exceptions button, then type [*.], then paste the address, then press allow, then close settings… bah…

  • serendipity1002
  • Hylian Ticipated

Does anyone know of a place where I can get earlier builds of Opera Developer? They’ve failed to fix this User Interface for over a month now and I want to revert to about 5 builds back. Forced Sync and Tab Menu icons are trash to me.

  • s fauske

    where is progress line? http://rghost.ru/76V8LkhZS/image.png

  • PaulW

The Spell checka still doesnt workk as it didn’t pick up the tis linne .

Also something i reported last build

“I use an app called KeyTweek which allows you to remap any key on the Windows keyboard. I remaped the left Windows key to “WWW Back” so that i don’t have to go to the top every time I want to go back a page. I have found in this version that this no longer works correctly and jumps back two pages. Just checked on my laptop that had the previouse version on and it was fine but when I upgraded to this version it jumped back two pages as well..”

It works fine with every other web browser and app and beta 32 and Dev 33 up until the last version. so I’ll be staying with beta 32..

    • Wando Schneider

Use Backspace to “WWW Back”. There’s no need to remap a key.

      • PaulW

Thanx for that info.. Though I do prefer the key remap as it works on everything else..

  • Thomas Sawyer

    SlideShare fullscreen issue fixed.

  • escruting

Please, fix the productivity of the bookmarks popup.

1 – make it to always default to “unsorted bookmarks”
2 – make it remember the folders you had dropdown the last time, to have everything closed every time is tiring.

Also, the “drag and drop files from the download list” feature is not working correctly if you move the cursor to the taskbar to open another window and drop there the file. Its only working if you have the window unmaximized and drop the file directly to the other window without going through the taskbar. I dont know if i explained it well enough, its easy to try if you want to add subtitles to a video on VLC.

  • Olli

Opera just changed the language on one of my Macs without me doing anything. It’s a language I can’t even read, I think, it’s not even a language, it’s just random characters. The contents of the menu bar and some menus still are in the right language, but not speed dial, settings etc.

    • Radek Rzepecki

I don’t think this is possible for any app to change the language, but please go to system preferences and check the language and region set on your mac.

To change the language of Opera browser, open terminal and run the following command:

      defaults write com.operasoftware.OperaNext AppleLanguages ‘(“en-GB”)’

The example is showing how to change Opera Beta to English.
You if you want to change it on developer stream, put OperaDeveloper instead of OperaNext, and for stable version just Opera.

      • Olli

As I told you, the menu bar still shows the right language which is proof that this has nothing to do with system language. It’s a bug in the newest Developer build, I downgraded to the previous build and everything’s fine now. Might be a problem with Opera and system fonts on El Capitan.

        • Radek Rzepecki

OK, I guess it’s rather font problem then, I can’t reproduce it myself. Can you please attach a screenshot and provide version of your El captain OS?

          • Olli

Since I downgraded I also can’t reproduce it anymore. The problem occured on the GM candidate 15A282a.

          • Ramdidam

            I can confirm Olli´s finding.

I have also the El Capitan GM candidate installed recently.

    • Arjan van Leeuwen

This is a known issue with El Capitan and Chromium. It has already been fixed, so you’ll just have to wait 🙂

  • raphah

why have I always turn spell checker on?

  • Петър Петров

Like others have said, the spell checker is bugged. You have to choose a dictionary each time you start opera or it doesn’t work.

  • Vux777

is there any chance that sidebar state will be remembered in next builds?
at least buttons list to stay opened on session start

    • Arjan van Leeuwen

What’s your setting for session restoration on startup? We have a bug on not restoring sidebar state when it’s not set to ‘Continue where I left off’, is that what you’re seeing?

      • Vux777

yes, I set it to “open the start page”

        • Arjan van Leeuwen

OK. So what happens is the sidebar state is stored with its window, since you can have several windows open with the sidebar in various states, and this is restored when the session is restored. Unfortunately when you use “open the start page” there is no restored session, so there’s no sidebar state. The bug number is DNA-41253.

          • Vux777

maybe you should maintain sidebar state independently from parent window
I know it’s a “extra” thing” but it’s worth it in this case.

  • Marko Koivuniemi

I like this build. Way smoothier than beta-version and those annoying crashes from previoud developere version are gone. Good job.

    • Marko Koivuniemi

Can anyone confirm problems (misaligned items etc) in WordPress admin console. But I think I saw this also with beta-version.
EDIT: Forgot this. It’s Blink-related because I got it also with Chrome.

      • Muhammad Ubaid Raza

Disable Sliming paint list to solve this.

        • Marko Koivuniemi

Both slimming paint -options are disabled in Opera.

          • Muhammad Ubaid Raza

            Thats strange then.

Sliming paint v2 also breaks video playback.

  • Kev87

Mouse is not going away in this build when entering fullscreen in HTML5 youtube player.

    • SuperTommy

In this developer version? I can’t reproduce. Which OS? Only an issue on stable as far as I know, and it’s since been fixed in beta/developer.

Ok, now it suddenly stays visible.

      • Kev87

Yes I have this issue on my windows 10 desktop with this dev. release.
EDIT: I’ve just restarted my computer and now it works as it should. Strange… 🙂

  • Laga Mahesa

Posting to confirm that the icon is back in Win 10 x64 (a rare bug it seems) and that links work properly now. Thanks, guys!

  • This program seems unpinnable in Windows 7 (32 bits, if it matters). As sometimes happens with updates, the pinned icon in the taskbar ceased working after the update –but unlike other times, starting the program and pinning it again doesn’t seem to work. The pinned icon disappears when you exit the browser or it’s just wrong again, referring to a nonexistent location. Has this happened to anyone else or just to me?

    • Lacedaemon

Has happened to me in the past too, I think I was trying to update it by the patch method and didn’t know where to run the patch.exe, then the shortcut wouldn’t work and had to manually create it or something like that, don’t remember.

    • Virgil Kane

Opera won’t stayed pinned to the taskbar after updates on Windows 10. After updates it always disappears. This doesn’t happen to FF or Chrome.

  • Kev87

There is a small bug in the settings page. The following is not displayed as it should be: http://imgur.com/arD3hJI

    • SiMcarD

Why this link is not clickable?

      • Kev87

I fixed it. Now it should be clickable.

  • ayyyylmao

Can you please fix the snapping issue with Windows 10? When you snap a browser on either the left or right side, the browser becomes unresponsive. The only fix is to move the browser around so it can fix itself. This is a known problem with every Windows 10 user

    • Kev87

Same problem here and it is indeed very annoying. The bug is present in all the 3 opera versions (stable, next and dev).

      • SiMcarD

        I can’t confirm here.
Can you explain step by step how to reproduce?

    • SuperTommy

It’s a Chromium issue and it’s fixed a couple of days ago on their side, so we’ll just have to wait for the correct Chromium version.

      • Lacedaemon

I hope it is related to that also (both in beta & dev):

        1. Creating a new window (initial window is maximized) and dragging it with the mouse from the maximized state to another place does this: http://s16.postimg.org/ctebo3ftx/image.png

Creating a new private window (initial window is maximized) and dragging it with the mouse from the maximized state to another place does this: http://s23.postimg.org/xzb0vtq8r/npw.png
        W7 64-bit

        • SuperTommy

Yep, it’s bugged me too. Have you seen the issue in Chrome? I’ll check it tomorrow.

          • Lacedaemon

No, I don’t have Chrome installed.

    • Dmitrij D

Haven’t encountered that issue yet. Neither with Win+Left/Right nor with mouse.

      Opera Next/Beta here.

      • Lacedaemon

which is how relevant to Opera developer 33.0.1982.0 ?

        • Dmitrij D

          Ask that Kev87.

  • taneli

The old bugs keep re-appearing again : that tab isn’t logged in to youtube and doesn’t remember the preferrences)

And, opening a background tab still breaks extensions in the current tab, for example, opening a link from Facebook page to background, for some reason breaks Stylish and µblock on the click, the current tab suddenly just shows all the hidden elements. (that’s not just on facebook, in other places too).

  • taneli

Facebook is also completely broken, scrolling the page screws up the friends list, (also if you have chats open, it will scroll those too, for some reason, scrolling them to some odd point and you need to scroll them all back down to current time). Anyways, FB is rather useless with this build, again.

    • Khairul Skmt

same with me.. facebook useless before this update the fb can acces with turbo enabled, but right now it is can not access at all cost. very unacceptable. ok. please fixes it ASAP… and also have problems of certificate indetified….

  • Is the Windows 10 theme fix included?

    • Mikolaj Boc

      Yes, enable #submodule-native-theme-alt

  • covertaffairs

    PIXELATION still a problem!!

  • Marko Koivuniemi

Seems that this key captcha doesn’t work with at least latest developer. Works with latest release Chrome 45. http://www.pdfsam.org/bbforum/ucp.php?mode=register&sid=8c38923b871c957872ffbbc449ed4d04

  • Biohazard

help: import old speed dial to main speed dial?

    • Vux777

select them all and drag&drop them onto speed dial folder (on the left tree)

      • Biohazard

        Thanks 😀

  • elcue

Has stash been restored in the newer versions of Opera.
I am still using Opera 23 because I updated one time and Stash was no longer available. It was very difficult to undo the very disappointing upgrade of the newer
    downgraded version.

    • Wando Schneider

Nope. And probably it’ll never be. Install O33 and try it, i think you won’t regret 😉

  • fenietzsche

    Can’t install on Fedora 22.

    • Łukasz Jagielski

Hi, could you share a link for rpm you’re using?

  • Ghirahim

    Spell checker doesn’t work!

  • L33t4opera

The first Opera developer 34.0.1996.0 😉

    • Matheus Bombonato

Yeah… I notice the new update after see new items from Opera’s partners on my speeddial…

    • Dave-H

      Got it!
No changelog or blog as yet as far as I can see.

    • vicki Brewer

thank you for this ! i can install Opera now ! you are the best here ! i been trying to install opera for a while but would not download , , thanks to this comment , i have got the link that works ! you are #1 🙂

  • Xnx Xax Xmx

When does Opera stop supporting NPAPI like Adobe Reader?

  • Bob B.

Strange, but in El Capitan, I am still unable to adjust the size of thumbnails or icons in Speed Dial. Is this the age of dinosaurus? By pressing Alt/Ctrl and clicking on a thumbnail, I can edit the text. Why not add the field ‘Adjust the size’?
