We bring you another update of our beta channel. In this build we have fixed some annoying keyboard shortcut issues on Mac, and improved the touch support for some UI elements.
We’re getting close to the end of the Opera 29 beta life-cycle, so this is hopefully our last beta build update for Opera 29.

We haveย another update to Chromium bringing it up to version 42.0.2311.82. Make sure to also check the full list of our latests fixes in changelog.

See you soon in Opera 29 Stable!

Thanks for the update, and fixes ๐Ÿ˜‰

Probable last Opera 29 beta update !
Looking forward to it being final soon

  • Lacedaemon

Youโ€™re getting close to the end of the Opera 29 beta life-cycle, but you haven’t fixed this issue yet. https://blogs.opera.com/desktop/2015/04/opera-beta-update-29-0-1795-35/#comment-1955284575

Happening in 2 different machines with 7×64 & Vistax32 & Ubuntu 14.10. NOT happening on the same systems with 28 Stable, Firefox, Opera Presto, Chrome.

    • Marcin Mitek

I responded to you in a different comment. Really, no need to repeat yourself so many times. Just that we don’t respond to every single comment doesn’t mean that we didn’t acknowledged it.

PS. It is happening on Chrome.

      • Nekomajin43

An “OK” or an upvote or something would help…

        • Marcin Mitek

Whatever works, I’ll keep that in mind.

        • Hecc-MA

They can’t upvote or answer to every comment. And not every comment pursues that goal.

          • Nekomajin43

I’m not talking about every comment, just the bug reports.

      • Lacedaemon

Thanks Marcin, I keep mentioning it in beta lately because I don’t know who is working on which stream (plus there are some new names here lately) so I wanted to make sure that the right people are seeing it, because there was no response at all, and because in my opinion reporting it for the beta is much more crucial since if this comes to Stable then it totally ruins it, when it shouldn’t. Aren’t people using Stable for that afterall?
About Chrome I haven’t tested it with the latest Chrome, only at the time of my first report and it was working fine, don’t know if they broke it with their mini-updates also, but I believe you if you say so. Hope you guys iron this out (together with Google if needed) because it really ruins the browsing experience.

It’s most likely every developer working on every branch – it’s just that whenever a separate fix is required for a branch like beta they have to merge it from the actual development repo.

          • Arjan van Leeuwen

            10 points SQL ๐Ÿ™‚

Well I was reporting that issue here in the past every 2 months or so, and the only way to get rid of it was to –disable-impl-side-painting. Fortunately I do use that command in my O-Stable shortcut so everything works fine for the moment. (At least until Google decides to remove it as an option as they ‘ve done it when they removed it from the flags…)

In general chromium seems to have huge issues with the renderer, for example my other post about themes with different resolutions than the monitor’s, https://blogs.opera.com/desktop/2015/02/check-updated-history-layout-opera-developer-29-0-1773-0/#comment-1856693924, I’m surprised how they can’t allocate all their resources just one time for fixing those issues once and for good, like in Firefox where it never happens/brakes no matter what they do in any beta/alpha/pre-alpha stream

4 builds in one week, you’re in a roll.
So ETA is like what? one week?

    • Since they are hoping that this is the last build, the release should be anytime next week.

  • sgrandin

After doing a Find In Opera 12 and closing the search box line, if I come back to it for another the previous search term is still there. That’s not the case with Opera 29. Intentional? I like the search term to still be there, since the process of searching often involves finding a result, opening a link or just stopping to read, then going back and searching some more.

  • Jim

Why does Opera hide my taskbar? It’s driving me crazy, and I’m forced to switch my browser until you fix this.

    • Vux777

do you read this, mean Opera developers?
this good man is forced to switch to another browser
because you just can’t keep your side bar in browser
on the serious side…it is annoying…and lacking of vertical button…

      • Leonardo Gomes

Side bar? I thought the issue was about task bar. ๐Ÿ™‚

        • Vux777

obviously, I need to visit the oculist ๐Ÿ™‚

I have Opera Turbo turned on in the menu, how do I know its working and how do I know how much data it is saving? The windows version doesnt have the same graph as the Android version or at least I wasnt able to find it.

  • Vladimir

    !!! DNA-36931 and DNA-36927 !!!

    • Leonardo Gomes

      What those bugs are about?

  • sgrandin

Opera seems to have problem with hostels.com (or vice-versa), that is, in looking up a specific country and city. The top section of the results webpage doesn’t complete loading with either 29b or 12.17. But while it’s trying to load with 12.17, if I use my address bar icon for Opera Next (“inOP”), the page loads properly.

  • Footman

cmd + 0 for original page size does not work on mac again….

    • For me some reason pages are loading with mobile phone screen size emulation on, I have to turn it on and then turn it off to get a non basic phone screen size (only happens in beta not stable or dev build)

  • 1. closing and opening new tabs is very slow and session.db balloons to 94MB. I hope this is fixed in the latest Opera version.

    2. About, help and printer page is blank, even in this Opera Beta 29.0.1795.41

    3. I have to point Logitech Gaming Software to the new Opera location every time I install a new version of Opera. I have assigned the top button on my G400 mouse to new tab. I guess this is by design but hopefully you can change it.

    • Anonimo

Yup… I can say Opera dev 30 is a lot faster, but it has too many bugs to use it now. So few more months with this slow release until 30 comes out…. ๐Ÿ™

  • Hecc-MA

Do you think this week could be it?

    • L33t4opera

It has been uploaded today ๐Ÿ˜‰

  • Jeff

I’ve had three complete crashes over the past few days.

Also, the fonts would be easier to read if the letters were just a little thicker.

  • Alexander

U cant reload speed dials (previews)? Good luck!
U still have to save torrents first, than open them? Good luck!

  • PopovP

Is it possible to use custom proxy, different from Windows Proxy settings that Opera now uses? Chrome has this parameter : –proxy-server=”proxy-server-IP:port-number”. Is there such parameter for Opera? I can’t get this one to work.

  • L33t4opera

The Opera 30 has been promoted to the beta channel: 30.0.1835.18 ๐Ÿ˜‰

  • Fleder

Fix the annoying auto update without asking the user first.
    Also: a proper bookmark editor.

  • Daniele Francesco Santamaria

The pdf bug is still present and it is very annoing, please patch it.
