today we are updating the beta stream. Here’s what you can expect with this update:

DNA-49372 – Opera stops responding/freezes on various sites on Windows 10

We finally managed to deal with this nasty Windows 10 bug, so we wanted to updated you guys as soon as possible. We hope you won’t be bothered anymore by freezes on Twitter, Facebook etc sites.

DNA-43687 – [Linux] Mosaic of tab bar artifacts instead of Web UIs when hardware accelerated

It took a while but we’ve finally made it. Let us know if you still have any troubles while using hardware acceleration.

News on Start page disabled by default

We have the idea on how to make this feature even better, and we are working on it. So for now on we’re switching off News on Start page. You’ll still be able to turn it on by the ‘Customise your start page’ panel.

Brand new Opera bug report wizard

We thought that our bug wizard needed some fresh air so we updated it to make reporting bugs faster and more intuitive for you.

      I let you win. 🙂

Another Beta. I hope this one will be a little better, before the new Developer comes.

  • Spideymang

Thank you Kornelia and Opera staff for the updates, hope these beta change to stable very soon.
    Greetings from Mexico City

    • iPristy

Yes Stable of 36 would be great, sooner the better.

  • Ralf Brinkmann

The download symbol does not appear in all cases. Just downloaded a *.rar file and I didn’t see it.

    • Aneta Reluga

Uh… I just tried with a totally clean installation of beta and here’s what I get:

Note it’s clean, so I don’t have any extensions or custom download settings. Also, it’s Win7. Any help what might be causing it? Does the file appear at all in your downloads (maybe it has been blocked by an AV or an extension?)

      • Ralf Brinkmann

I saw this mistake the first time with the last build. The file is downloaded, but I can only see it if I open the download manager page manually and by the green progress bar in the tasklist of my W10x64. I have just downloaded some Opera installation files (*.exe) from http://get.opera.com/ftp/pub/, some with all extensions enabled and some disabled. Sometimes I saw the mistake and sometimes not. I didn’t find out a rule.

        • Aneta Reluga

Ok, thanks for the info. Unfortunately not much to look into at this stage, hopefully there will be more reliable steps (either by you or someone else).

          • Ralf Brinkmann

Thank you for your answer. Today I had again a problem I saw the first time starting with the last version: I wanted to download my daily newspapaer (*.pdf) and Opera offered me my last upload folder as the one to save the file in. I would like to save all downloaded files always in the download folder that I have specified in the settings. And I think that was the usual behaviour in earlier versions.

          • Aneta Reluga

I have confirmed that’s expected. If you have the checkbox “Ask every time…” for downloads ticked, the Downloads folder location is not relevant – Opera would rather use whatever Windows server as “last used folder”. To make sure, the checkbox needs to be unchecked.

          • Ralf Brinkmann

Since you can adjust the settings if you can store everything in a specific directory or download each would be asked, it seems to me more likely to be a bug (Google Tranlation, I hope, you understand it).

I had always checked the specific folder and Opera did always what it should, but now the behaviour changed. To many click necessary! I want to find all my downloads always in the same place and not sometimes here and sometimes there.

            on the subject…
I noticed that sometimes when i download something,
symbol changes to downloaded (with the green dot)….
but after that,if I start downloading something else (bigger file), symbol is still in downloaded state (green dot), while (big) file is still downloading
I think every new download should restart button state

  • Marko Koivuniemi

I was hoping that DNA-49372 would affect OS X too but thank you Opera, but Bug is in another castle. (Because I noticed similar behaviour in my OS X machine than my Win 10 machine. )

    • Aneta Reluga

Uh… that’s bad news. Do you have a good URL to reproduce please , or is it enough to just use one of these reported already in a multitude of earlier comments, e.g. https://twitter.com/pianoimproman ?

      • Marko Koivuniemi

Sorry nothing exact. Could be part of my quite old session configuration which have 4 windows and many tabs. I haven’t had time to figure out what causes it. I occasionally remove all my extensions (uBlock Origin etc.) but that doesn’t help. (One of problem is that sometimes Opera doesn’t exit at all so that I must force it to close. (I could send my session file to someone.)

        • Aneta Reluga

Actually, it is possible to attach files when you report issues through our revamped bug wizard: https://bugs.opera.com/wizarddesktop/

I’d be most grateful if you could report an issue and attach it there. This is the safest way. Of course, I know I don’t have to remind about that, but I’ll do it anyway: please double-check that you have removed all possibly sensitive data from the session. Thanks!

  • Eugene Tareyev

    DNA-49372 Yay! Finally!

DNA-49372 Opera stops responding/freezes on various sites on Windows 10 fixed in dev version?

edit: look like it was only fixed in beta, still crashing in stable and dev version

    • Kornelia

Give us a change to update all streams so the fix can get there 😉

  • Heinz Witt

I’d like to use Opera on Windows.
But where are the 64bit builds?
Chrome or Chromium there are in 64bit.

    • Nachiketa Ramesh

AFAIK Opera downloads the architecture of your system. Check the about section.
